Roger1503559812 Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 I'd appreciate any feedback on how good the Samsung HD937 DVD Player is, as it appears to be the only HD DVD player on the market at a sub $1,000 price (going for about $699) - all the other HD DVD palyers I've seen are over $2,000. Is it worth getting this unit now or simply getting are far cheaper progressive scan DVD player. I appreciate that a DVI output does not necessary make for a great picture if the rest of the unit is rubbish. I intend to use it on a HD Hitachi plasma panel. Thanks in advance Roger
ritesh Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Should look at the Home Theatre forums, there is a lot of info. there... to briefly answer your question, Samsung has had a number of issues, there are threads around... If you want something now, in that price range, there is the Momitsu, see the "HD Capable DVD Player" thread in the Widescreen forum. If you can wait a little longer, there are the new Denons on the horizon, for similar price, Denon 1910 would be a much better buy. cheers, Ritesh
Big Guns Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 I have the HD937. I got it by redemption. I have had problems with using it via the DVI (it will not do 720p or 1080i properly) but Samsung say that it a problem with my TV which they will fix. Still waiting atm. It does have a problem with black crush though. I am hoping that switching to dvi and a higher resolution might fix that to some extent but I am not holding my breath. I am yet to be convinced it is worth spending $600+ on. The Momitsu seems to be the best atm.
