JimmyiovinE Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Does anyone have any thoughts on these speakers? I'm looking for some desktop speakers for use with my PC for music listening and gaming on, all rounders. I will be hooking them up to my Hugo 2 as the pre amp. Just wondering if anyone can vouch for these or maybe recommend something similar. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
maxspl Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Never heard the focals but have heard these. https://www.turramusic.com.au/pages/CatalogueItem.aspx?CIID=5990 The Neumann KH120 are regarded as being one of the best at that price point.
oldrose Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 I have the CMS 40s which are simply fantastic. The 50s will go lower and easily fill a large room. They are not exactly pretty if you need domestic approval however.

I can grab a pair right now, brand new for 1500 includes express shipping and warranty. I know their more "studio monitors" though, does that make a difference? should I grab them?
oldrose Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 I'd grab them for that price but.. If you listen to primarily bass heavy music a 5" speaker probably won't go low enough for you - a simple physics limitation - and you need a bigger woofer.

I mean at the end of the day their going to be my desktop speakers so I'm not expecting to be blown away in the bass department, just as long as it's there for movies and games to some degree. i was going to get audio engine hd6 I think their called and their 1100$.

I don't thing the AE's are in the same league sonically as the CMS's and sitting at a desk you will certainly feel the sound pressure.
