Hi Guys,

I demo'ed this amp today I store but they had no speakers anything like my Spatial OB's. I was impressed but no home demo possible which I thought a bit harsh for a $6k+ Amp.

I can't remember who, but somebody on sna has one, just looking for a little feedback on the ownership experience once the honeymoon period is over.

I think that you need to talk with Cafad about this amp. Under a nom de plume he contributed a review of it to SNA. Search for it in the review section at the homepage.

Thanks I've read that a couple of times but I believe he only used cd input. I really wanted to ask questions about Ethernet/network connection

@blybo any conclusion? have you been able to demo it at home?

Not as yet but been working the last few weekends so makes things difficult.

However it appears stores have "rules" on home demo's depending on who you speak to, or perhaps how far from the store you live. I was told absolutely not, we NEVER do home demos regardless of $$$, yet I know another member from Ballarat has had home demos from the same inner SE store... I wont name them as they are a sponsor but pretty sure I'll never darken their door again. Weird service as I'm sure $6k+ purchases do not happen every day

EDIT, just saw your location! Ballarat is around a 90 minute drive from the store but "rural". I live nearly an hours drive away but still within Melbourne

yep weird, I can imagine asking for deposit for unexpected events but strictly saying no is unusual in this price range

maybe another store? 2200i was my second option but I bitten the bullet already so was just curious about your opinion

So what did you buy?

Lyngdorf TDAI-2170, same technology with missing streamer but extra room correction DSP (mic and cabling part of the package)

Hey guys, sorry I missed this for this long.  I only used a coax input it is true (and optical for TV watching) but that unit knocked my socks off, one of the best amps I've heard to date.  I'd be pretty surprised if the HDMI and other inputs were significantly different in quality.

The unit I was sent was the official demo unit, there was only one in the country and I had to wait until after the Melbourne HiFi show was done before they sent it my way.  If you are very lucky they might still have a demo unit that you may be able to sweet talk them into sending in your direction.

Best of luck!

digital inputs should be similar in quality, analog inputs do suffer due to extra AD processing

btw, I somehow overlooked that NAD has also new direct digital Master series amp M32, inside it doesn't look as sleek as in case of Classe or Lyngdorf but that's not so important, could be another potential candidate for audition

Not sure if the reference to a "Ballarat" member who was able to get in-home demos is me or not, however I have recently been able to secure in-home trials of a Peachtree Nova300 and PS Audio S300 amplifier, from two different stores, HOWEVER I had to pay for them upfront, with the agreement that I get a full refund if I decide to return them (in 100% condition). Both stores were slightly hesitant to loan out to me for a full week, usually they only loan out for a couple of days, however consideration was given due to living 'out in the sticks'.

Another store I visited when doing the rounds was not interested at all in providing such a trial agreement.

2/3 ain't bad, but only works if you can spare the $ for the initial outlay.

Free, or minimal deposit, home trials are still a mystery to me. You must need to live near the store and be well acquainted with the staff to secure such a thing.

Hello, how did the trials go with the Nova300? I am looking at pairing one with my Monitor Audio Gold 300's

Not well. I had zero luck getting it to reliably connect with my SBT, which is the source for the vast majority of my listening. As such, the Nova300 went back to the shop.

Thanks for letting me know. How was the sound while it was running?

Had it worked with the SBT (which is should have, it just didn't want to connect to mine for some reason), I would have happily bought it ahead of the Rotel and Musical Fidelity.
