Great video, and a very time consuming manufacturing procedure. I remember working with old test equipment with nixie tubes.

@bob_m_54 yes, and I can imagine he may make a nice little business out of it.

Kill for one of those clocks, you can't even order one on his site being as he's too busy.

I have a little nixie clock. Four IN-14 tubes.  Fully assembled with a one piece solid Eucalyptus base.

Very cute.  PM me if you want to know the vendor - they have others.  No instructions come with the remote control, but she seems "intelligent" as I didn't have to touch anything to get the date and time exactly right.  Just plugged in.

At night she glows a soft blue, and light goes dim..  She knows things that I do not.  I did push a few buttons on the remote, not quite knowing what I was doing.  I trust that I am not alone with this special feature of being a bloke.

I might be receptive to another couple - about USD $160 - coz in the unlikely event of a tube going bust in the foreseeable future (they are tough little buggers), not sure if it can be easily unplugged and replaced.

Damn, she won't play my CDs.  Trust you guys get double entendres.

Edit - I just bought another one.  Same, but "natural" wood - OK, whatever.  Not stained.

I like clocks - I have a vintage tick-tock standing (not mantle piece) one I wind up and it chimes.  From my dear Gran.

USD$160.  From Ukraine.  There are quite a few on offer from the eBay dude.  Those with 6 tubes are $220, but varies a bit, depends..  Am I allowed to post an eBay link?

I have seen more flashy ones with bigger tubes (IN-18??)  that can be plugged and easily replaced for about $700 or more - I can't justify that at the moment.  And they are kits!  Requires soldering skills and so on, which quite honestly I can't do.

No two are the same.  The dude handbuilds them.  This is a nice example of a 6 tube, which really, I find pointless.

The Ukrainian dude tries harder to sell his quality (and much more aesthetic) kit at a fraction of the price, has better English abilities, and sells only nixie clocks - unlike this dude who seems to sell only bike accessories.

I know who I would trust.

People wonder why Oz fails to have a flourishing manufacturing industry.  This is cottage, but still, there ya go.

That is possibly the most awful looking wristwatch I have ever seen.  58?  OK..

Just me, perhaps.

Where can I get a nixie clock cheaper.

The Ukrainian dude has a website which is rather wanting.  In his store he offers a wide variety of models at much "cheaper" prices - $50 for a 4 IN-14 tube clock, same as mine....except -

they do not come with the wood base or remote (I query the value of the remote).  Very basic, which is OK I guess, but I like aesthetics a little bit.

I cannot and do not endorse anything from there, as I bought from him on eBay, where he receives high praise in feedback.

Do you have a link for his ebay?

At the very top of the page, next to "Luminous Time" you will see an Ebay logo, just click on that and it will take you to his Ebay page

Getting the basic and making your own case would be the go.

I reckon that you'd have to make the base before you connect everything.  Nixies are generally not plug n play.

Possibly...........but it's not that hard to brick veneer a fibro house!

I think that some talented people can weld underwater as well.

There are some things skilled people can do.  I am not one of them.

I just checked.  The circumference of the wood base holes is smaller than that of the nixie tubes, which are soldered on, not plugged in.

How to get around that small dilemma escapes me.  There would have to be a gap.

There is always a gap.

You'd just make the wood thicker to come up to the neck of the tube is all.

I guess that I am perfectionist (why are we audiophiles?)  No gaps tolerated.  Josia apparently does well in this respect.

Still learning, and in my opinion, good.

I can see a gap in your one in the pic!

(I had to put my glasses on though)

I have seen gaps.  I live near Halls Gap.  Binoculars are needed to find the gap.

Where is that confounding bridge?
