I am reliably informed that this is a true story. It happened in a Melbourne suburb last week. The PM I received said the following:

Embarrassment

I called at local church op shop after walk in park.

Was wearing cheap old track pants aged wind cheater red vest.....

I didn't buy anything.

As I left assistant quietly took me aside to the box of canned foods for the destitute and made me take some.

I won't reveal the name of the embarrassed member but @Luc would have a good guess and, no doubt, a quiet chuckle.

I can't believe this is a true story. Surely none of our esteemed members would stoop quite so low as to steal food from the needy.

None that is except  ...

No, not even him.

@evil c? No. He has some deep character flaws, but stealing food from the destitute isn't his style.

evil c , surely not again?

Hmmm - old trackies check
Wincheater check , could have been me !
But only when walking dog in park up the road.
Might look semi disheveled but not on same level as ahem a certain member of 3 letters![emoji51]

One of my flaws seems to be in misjudgment of good character ! [emoji53]
Or questionable in this case.

@wolster  Wal I'm starting to realise where the ingredients for his paella came from now. As a guest, I could only politely eat and then question after leaving. I thought the cans in the kitchen were for the cat...

Can't possibly be the nonogenerian!

As I hear it he's on a train bound for Canberra to woe industry and send pollies to some impossibly lost cause (something about housing the underprivileged in rusting hulks on the water, convict style).

I remember that only last week he was grovelling here looking for a bed. He received no response from Canberrians (his reputation for unending GTGs obviously preceded him).
