andrewhollo Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 A friend has inherited my old 80s Luxman turntable and she needs a phono preamp. Someone recommend to her a Rega Fono Mini A2D for $200. Is this a good option? Any others that was WAY better than this, and easily available in AUS? Thanks in advance, Andrew

myskylab Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 What do you want from it MM or MM/MC if its MM you want you cannot go past The Mimic battery powered MM stage an extremely good performer. 1
eman Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 I have actually run the Rega Mini Fono against the Mimic (Hand made by our MWHouston) . Go the Mimic. Far superior. Prob the best at the price. Even better if you can catch one being sold on. It's battery powered so take into account the need to replace batteries now and then . REchargables work fine. Try to remember to turn it off when you walk away for a little while just for conservation reasons. 2
catman Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 G'day all, yes the 'Mimic' is based on an amazing design and in fact I'm using one of my own versions at the moment! Regards, Felix. 1
