ajk_mkm Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 (edited) Hi guys, i have my my setup in the living room and would like to be able to stream from this set up to a speaker in the kitchen/outside. Are there better options other than the SONOS connect and SONOS speakers? most of what I could find involved streaming to my current system not from. any suggestions would be great. thanks, andrew Edited June 10, 2017 by ajk_mkm
powerav Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 There are countless these days, everything from bluesound, music cast, Heos to cheaper ones like google audiocast and even ones like soundmax from Aldi.
rockpig Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 I have several SONOS speakers and amps and had them for a very long time. Excellent quality, reliability and user friendly. I know there are cheaper options but I think SONOS is hard to beat. My wife wanted good sound at her home office desk via something small and neat, and she got the SONOS Play 1. Looks and sounds great. She is very pleased with this new addition to our system. When you say you want to stream FROM your living room setup, what is this exactly? SONOS does have the ability for analogue input via RCA or 3.5 Plug depending on which model you get.
ajk_mkm Posted June 11, 2017 Author Posted June 11, 2017 I want to be able to send music via Bluetooth or wifi from my amp, eg: cd/TT to a speaker in the kitchen/lounge room.

OK that requires something simpler than what a SONOS is capable of. So I get why you are asking for something that is not SONOS. I don't know much about the gear involved but seems to me you would need a bluetooth transmitter that plugs into an output on your amp and a wireless bluetooth speaker to transmit to. I did some Googling and there seems to be many options available for this configuration. Assuming you are not expecting ultra HiFi performance I would guess you could go to JB HiFi and talk to a sales person with knowledge about this stuff. At least if you buy both from the same place and they do not do what you asked for you can return it. Perhaps something like this to transmit... http://www.alltech.com.au/en/home/389-bluetooth-40-stereo-audio-adapter-dongle-transmitter-for-tv-speaker-hifi.html Plus one of these Choice magazine recently reviewed highly rated wireless speakers... B&W Zeppelin Wireless rated the highest $999RRP Polk Woodbourne $488RRP JBL Extreme $399RRP Edited June 12, 2017 by rockpig extra info
Dolphy Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I want to be able to send music via Bluetooth or wifi from my amp, eg: cd/TT to a speaker in the kitchen/lounge room. Sonos can do this, chromecast too. The cheapest option is the chromecast. It comes down to budget and flexibility. I have both, I prefer Sonos from a user interface perspective, it's dead easy Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
ajk_mkm Posted June 12, 2017 Author Posted June 12, 2017 Awesome. Might give the Chromecast a crack. Does it have an input?? Couldn't see one on their site?
Dolphy Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Wait a minute, I may have given you bad advice..... The chromecast does not have an input. You can only transmit to the chromecast from your phone or computer. I'm not sure if this is what you want to do. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
