What do you want to spend ?

This!!

And what resolution files do you need to play? 16/44.1, 24/96, 24/192, DSD?

I have the older TEAC UD501 with a warmer sounding BurrBrown DAC in dual mono setup.

Not a bad performer and supports a plethora of inputs. Not sure if you are around Brisbane. You can have it for $450. Might be something worth considering if this is your first attempt at computer/digital audio. Has a headphone amp too.

I'm not sure sorry, I'm new to DACs.

Which resolution is the best?

At that price and with that equipment you definitely want a balanced output. The TEAC mentioned above has that. So does the ROTEL RDD-1580 DAC which I have heard and like.

Or the Audiolab MDAC is meant to have better USB input than the Rotel.

Not really a matter of what's best it's what you have, if you do not have any DSD material then no point getting it like wise with 192 hi res.

I have a black NAD M51 for sale and well under your budget.

You can try it out first in your own system before committing.

Thanks

That is an awesome offer. Highly respected DAC.

Regarding whether the Marantz might cut it, I have no experience with it and have heard no feedback. Someone else would have to chime in.
