michaelw Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 (edited) the source material (a french comic book from the late '60s to 2010) was great and influenced many sci-fi films, including besson's fith element. the stories have been translated into english and are worth seeking out. the teaser that came out last year is famous for being the first film trailer to feature a beatles song http://www.hd-trailers.net/movie/valerian-and-the-city-of-a-thousand-planets/ Edited May 30, 2017 by michaelw
ThirdDrawerDown Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 ... and spawned that great French scene where graphic novels were for adults, and gave us Metal Hurlant, Druillet, Moebius, Giger and others
Tweaky Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 I've really been looking forward to this release. It's so refreshing to have something other than the usual dark and dystopian look of most SciFi movies, like the most recent Star Wars and Stark trek movies. I hope it's a massive hit, and causes a change in the look of movies that are in the planning stages now. 1
cafe67 Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Being a Luc Beeson movie , it will look sumptuous, fry your brain and make no sense whatsoever

jklow888 Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 Anyone know if the 4K UHD + BD dual release has the BD as region free ?
Tweaky Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 I'm pretty sure I saw a 4K version of this title available at JB HiFi.....if it's region free I don't know [EDIT] Yes I was correct. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on-sale/sci-fi/valerian-and-the-city-of-a-thousand-planets/343332/ I have the 3D version with standard 2D Bluray, but I had to import that, the 3D version hasn't been made available in Aus

Kezzbot Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 the only thing that let it down and it was in a major way was the the two main actors. They did not covey any sort of threat or urgency. By watching the film you would think they where at the park walking the dog. To cast two children as experienced warriors is so un-relatable as well. Not to mention watching two children flirting with each other all the time is really off putting. Bad casting IMO Great movie otherwise

The 'children' in question were 30 and 23 years old at the time of filming, so not really that disgusting, but yes, they do seem young to old eyes. In real war, our 'warriors' are usually younger than this. Cheers, Jason. 3
Kezzbot Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 (edited) really wow . audience perceived age that is more important and to me i would have guessed 18 and 16 . To me they acted and appeared young . and did not act like trained experienced marines or commandos. neither had any muscle on them. Edited May 13, 2019 by Kezzbot
