Extra Info:

For sale are a pair of Silverline SR15 bookshelf/standmount speakers in piano black.

They sound just superb, with great tonal reproduction and clarity. They are very balanced and non-fatiguing to listen to - the kind of speaker where you listen to the music, and not the equipment. Alan Yun @ Silverline knows what he's doing, that's for certain! These speakers were $USD1,800 new.

Cosmetically they are very nice, but the piano black finish isn't perfect, with some light swirls and two nicks as shown in the photos. There's also a little pull on one of the grilles. I've marked the speakers as 7/10 due to this. However, they do present very well indeed, and I'm drawing attention to these minor flaws in the interests of transparency.

I also have the original double-boxes and foam, so shipping at the buyer's expense is possible. Otherwise, collection is from Gledswood Hills (south-western Sydney).

I miss my Silverlines, should never of sold them.

Rare beasts in Aus and these would leave many many 'popular' standmounts in their wake. Quads offerings for instance and LS50's come to mind as one speaker which these would easily match and better(imo) and look at the price.

Alan Yun is a bit of a ledge in US audio circles and his speakers are consistent winners at audio awards.

These are a bargain and if they were any colour but black I'd be tempted, black amps yes, black speakers no.

GLWTS with the sale Pete.

*** Only the second time I've seen these advertised in Aus and both have been here. The last pair of these went for 900+ from a ACT seller a year or so back.

How powerful an amp do these speakers need?

They are a very easy speaker to drive. A 20w AU-2900 Sansui does it on it's ear as does Earle's creations.

I preferred the tubes but I'm biased.  A refined Rega at 60w also drove them but less convincingly than an array of Sansui's and the tube amp.

Short answer: Not powerful at all.

They are quite easy to drive - a nice simple 8 ohm load and 90db sensitivity. Easier, for example, than the 86dB Usher S520s and Elite Aesthet 1s that I have.

The reviews for the SR15 mention that they are well suited for low-powered solid state or tube amps, and I certainly wouldn't say that for most other insensitive standmounts! :)

Lucky for me that I don't have your aversion to black speakers. Not my preferred colour but these things are small.

@Nap250 well hopefully you bought them then regardless of colour and yes they are indeed small.

Special bits of gear are things like these.

Why?

Coz someone somewhere has gone to the expense to import some gear from the American or European manufacturers or a none Australian site. Paid the bucks and...here they are.

Always worth a speccy stuff like this.

If your the new owner then congrats and welcome to the sound that Alan Yun has introduced to the American market but not here.

Should be the new owner over the weekend. It will be nice to have some efficient easy to drive speakers for a change.

Lucky man:)

Will be interested to read your thoughts on their bass response as they have a reputation (deservedly from my xp) for punching that proverbial poor bugger "Mr Above Their Weight"
