cheekyboy Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I know that there are many tennis fans here among StereoNET members, so it is with some real regret that I post this report in the Herald Sun today. Peter is 56 and I've known Peter from the very early days in his tennis career when he was taught by my old tennis coach in the Newcastle suburb of Adamstown and I was privileged to practise with him before he went on tour full time. Peter is also a very close friend of my younger brother, Will, and I know this news is going to devastate him. Peter will always be remembered for that career high win when he beat Boris Becker, the defending champion, in the second round of Wimbledon in 1987. Peter was a true journeyman on the tennis tour and reached a career high ranking in the low 40s in singles and was top 20 in doubles and if you ever watched him on a doubles court, you'd probably think that was conservative indeed. My thoughts are with Peter and I will try and catch up with him soon and I know that he will fight this hideous disease. Keith
Wimbo Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 A good mate of mine died of this disease. And Anna Meares coach, Gary West has it too. Thoughts are with Peter as well.
