Monkster Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Hi, I just picked up a vintage Marantz PM-200 integrated amp but unfortunately, it does not come with a power cable. The AC power socket is 2 pronged and is rectangular shaped with dimension of 21mmx13mm. The standard AU power cable (like the ones for PC's) do not fit. Can anyone help as to where I can get one? I tried ebay with no luck.
Snapper() Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Yes .. marantz did this several times. Almost impossible to find them, or even the plug to make one. I've even seen gumtree ads of people looking for them. I have one and its unused but belongs to a gold series amp pm300 i think. .. replace the socket is better ideaSent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Monkster Posted May 17, 2017 Author Posted May 17, 2017 Thanks for the info Snapper, does the one for the PM 300 fit the PM200 or are there several different versions? Guess I'll have to return it to the seller if it's impossible to find one as replacing the socket will probably cost more than the cost of the amp.
Snapper() Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 they are all the same - did it randomly from 70's to 80's
Weka Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Replacing the socket to an IEC320 C14 shouldn't cost much. Jaycar Electronics have them for $3.95 each. Failing that, just hardwire in the mains cord via a cable gland/bush.
Monkster Posted May 17, 2017 Author Posted May 17, 2017 Thanks for all the help! I believe the connector on the amp is a IEC C9 is that correct? Found some on ebay, one with US plug and another with UK plug, both are usable (with adapter to AU plug)?
Zaphod Beeblebrox Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Just have it replaced with a standard IEC 3 pin connector. Easy and relatively reasonably priced. Those 2 pin cables can be found on Marantz, ReVox and some other equipment. Cables can be very expensive.
TGJ001 Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 I bought an old PM300 which has the same plug. I *nearly* bought one without because it was a fair bit cheaper thinking it was a standard kettle cord. Good luck with the hunt.
