Brisbane hiding shops

Featured Replies

Hi guys, got a few hours to kill before flying back to Perth tonight. Any good hifi shops that are worth a visit? Not jb style but the "good stuff".

Cheers Dave

In the CBD? Not Fortitude Valley?

Rockinghorse Records, just off the Mall. When facing Southbank and the river end of the mall its in a street on the right. Open to 6pm and a short walk to that dreadfully clever sandgroper invention, a train from the city to the airport.

Hours

we got about 3 JB's in the CBD...

i'm not sure if there's anything beyond record outlets in cbd, no one doing descent audio kit that I know of. there's also Record Exchange just round the corner from Rocking Horse, across from the town hall and up a tight set of stairs to be above the police beat - its a bit of a mess up there.

fortitude valley has better options (records/CDs and kit), its just one train stop from the city towards the airport if that works

Thanks guys, was looking for "nice kit" is what I'm looking for!
Just come out to Shorncliff for one of the wifes shops, then it's my turn if there's anything around.... Plenty of jb stores back home, need some gear to drool over.

Cheers

Try Trimira Audio & Integration

Near the CBD. They have some B&W Nautilus snails. N

Caxton Audio have Conrad Johnson, Quad etc. Plus very good trade-ins.

Northside Hifi in Aspley has some decent gear if you're out Shorncliffe way. B&W, Electrocompaniet.

Trimira would be my suggestion for array of gear, then Caxton Audio.  Both close to the CBD (Trimira slightly closer to Shorncliffe and the airport) and have a good array of gear to check out.

Caxton done. I think it was a quiet day and talk was on the menu.

I've seen some pretty swish Yamaha and Sonus Faber stuff in Living Sound and Vision in Fortitude Valley at times.

Thanks guys for the recommendations. Just had my system on tonight while the Brisbane sound was fresh in my head.... During my listening to the Electrocompliant / B&W diamond system I thought my system imaged better and now I'm home I can yes it does, happy with that! But I'm not there with the bass, those B&W's go low and have some real attack....
In reality it wasn't a suprise that this system did rock and would kick mine.... but I did get an idea on what I need to work on.
Mines not too bad really and a hell of a lot cheaper than what I listened to.

The joys of our hobby.
