Festooned Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 (edited) Item: Dali 7A Three-Way LoudspeakersLocation: AdelaidePrice: 400Item Condition: Very goodReason for selling: Too many speakersPayment Method: Pickup - Cash, COD OnlyExtra Info: Very nice quality 3 ways with heavy cabinet, Danish Vifa Drivers, good dispersion and even frequency response. These have sounded great on several amplifiers I've tried them with. Nice scale with natural treble and lively mids. Acoustic guitar and vocals sound gorgeous and they don't do bad things with strings, harmonica and the like. Much nicer than the current Dali offerings in chain stores and easy to drive. Happy to demo in Eden Hills. The tweeters are perfect, there's a reflection in the pictures but they are not dented/deformed. These also have proper binding posts for banana plugs - not the spring clips as you see on the cheapies and some vintage models. Woofer surrounds are in excellent nic - not sticky etc and those ghostly light smudges are from my sad camera phone that makes them out of tiny dust bits in the air apparently. 8/ They look better in the flesh.Pictures: Edited May 15, 2017 by treuben 1
disco75 Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 They certainly look nice. But I cant find much info on the web. Can you point me to any reviews etc?
Festooned Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 (edited) These seem to have been sold more in Europe than Australia. I've also discovered that they're the updated 7A model (they changed the tweeter to a metal domed unit and the bass driver from in-house to Peerless long throw - they kept the d75 Vifa mid - I've added the specs from the 7A). The only things written about them I've see are in German forums and mostly concern the model before. If you're in Adelaide you're welcome to come and have a listen. I'm in Eden Hills. They sound wonderful to me and don't seem hard to drive. 8) Your friends at Dynaudio also used a couple of domed mids - I had a pair of D54 but I think there was a D52 also? I had them in a hulking great DIY effort I made years ago. Sadly it's gone now. I expect it would have been much easier for me to make it sound good with DSP and active amping than it was with my agricultural efforts at crossover design! (I never got it to sound right.) These have a gentle slope from bass to treble resulting in a warm balance without aggressive treble and they still retain nice articulation in the mids. It's not a common alignment these days certainly. Edited May 15, 2017 by treuben 1
disco75 Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 (edited) Must say I am intrigued. Let me think about it (would need to shift the dynaudios). I had some sweet vintage 3 ways (monitor audio MA3) which I miss a bit. Edited May 15, 2017 by disco75
goldencoults Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I used to sell these and they were probably the best balanced of the Dali range at the time. Very nice speaker. Sold for upwards of 1800 from memory. This is astounding buying if they are in good nick.. 1
