Peteoz Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 (edited) Item: Wavac MD-300B valve amplifier Location: Canberra Price: Price drop and can do instalments/payment plan if required was $3500 now $2800 (includes $100 donation to SNA) Item Condition: Excellent (apart from the marks shown) Reason for selling: Moving to active speakers Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD, Bank Deposit Extra Info: I am the third owner of this magnificent amp and have taken the following from the previous seller's post: The Wavac is in magnificent condition apart from the three marks shown on the timber face plate as shown in the photos. As there is no local importer for these products at the moment an imported Wavac MD-300b would cost over $10,000 NEW to import. The Wavac is a 110 volt unit that is a self-biasing single ended tube amp that has a volume control and a selector switch for three inputs. The passive preamp section of the Wavac (volume and selector switch) has been disengaged so that it only runs as a power amplifier. Bypassing the passive preamp section was done to take this amp to another level of performance that I felt was hindered by the volume and selector switch in the path. This is a very simple modification that was done by the valve expert Elson Silva in Sydney, this could easily be reversed if the new owner so desired. The Wavac is completely original apart from the small modification already mentioned and has never been repaired. The sale of this Wavac includes the three following sets of 300b tubes: Sophia Electric, T.J. Silver Mesh Plate and a wonderful set of EAT 300B's. The driver section uses JAN 6Y6-GT (replaced within last 6 months) and a pair of 12AT 7's (also replaced within last 6 months). It also includes the a Tortech Step Down transformer Model SD -110 -1500 and a Shunyata Research Venom US Power Cable and original box and packaging. This is an exceptional sounding amplifier that requires a high quality preamp to bring out its best and the correct set of speakers. I would prefer local pickup but would also consider shipping. Also may be able to deliver to Sydney as I'll be driving down in the next couple of weeks. Same amp in Europe is going for €3800 without all the valves: http://www.highend-broker.com/highend2/product1.php?product=2558 Pictures: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited May 8, 2017 by Peteoz fix format and add information 1

Volunteer sir sanders zingmore Posted May 8, 2017 Volunteer Posted May 8, 2017 Dumb question maybe but where does the preamp connect ?
Peteoz Posted May 8, 2017 Author Posted May 8, 2017 Dumb question maybe but where does the preamp connect ? Not dumb at all. The preamp connects into the L-R analogue input 1 (the inputs closest to the speaker outputs). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
woogie59 Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 The AUS distributor is David Le from Vintage Audio Exchange based in Victoria. Was in communication with David yesterday. Lovely chap. He mentioned he will be soon on his way to Japan to visit Wavac. David represents a number of Japanese brands including Shindo Lab, Ikeda, Tango and Wavac in Australia. Chris Daley Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Nice, probably cheap at that price but still out of reach. I am trying to persuade friend to part with an 811. Do you know the difference? Is the 300b significantly different or better ?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm sure if you scour the internet, there will be some comparisons/reviews of the two. The reason I went down the 300B route was due to my highly efficient speakers, which I have since sold due to upgrade. If you have efficient speakers, then 300Bs are certainly worth a listen.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
