Item: Lenco L78 (Dynatron badged) motor unit and arm and headshell.
Location: Perth
Price: $400 plus shipping (includes $20 donation to Stereonet), not negotiable
Item Condition: Used. Good working conditions.
Reason for selling: Change of plan
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only
Extra Info: This came from a Dynatron amp-TT combo. I had planned on keeping this and putting it in a CLD plinth to join my other Lencos. The amp section wasn’t worth restoring. The quality of the platter, bearing and motor are a step above the standard Lenco and I was tempted to keep them for one of my other CLD Lencos. The end of play auto lift works well. The tonearm has new V blocks and the cartridge plugs changed. Otherwise only the bearing and motor has been cleaned and lubed. The motor could do with a strip down but I never got down to it as it is pretty quiet as is. Included is the original Dynatron manual. Platter mat is the original Dynatron rubber mat - different to the usual Lenco rubber mat.

The plinth came from one of my other Lencos. It is pretty rough to look at and is not included in the sale unless you want to pickup. It really isn’t worth posting. If shipping please allow a week or 2 for me to gather good packaging materials. Hoping for a local sale after audition.

Plenty of friendly advice available on Lenco heaven.

Cartridge not included.

Hi there! Are you able to tell me if this is a heavy platter, e.g. the same weight platter as a L-75?

There were only minor differences between the L-75 and the L- 88. That platter pictured looks awfully similar to the L-75 platters I own.

Have you tried the Lenco Heaven website? A Lenco lovers pot of gold. :)

Here are some links that might help.

Yes, it is. This is made in Switzerland not Italy like the later ones. The later ones had a better Japanese arm though.

The quality control on these seems better. Dynatron were are posh English company claiming divine authority from HRH blah blah..

Lenco Heaven has a lot of info.

Thanks guys! I was merely asking. I have researched a bit and I know the L-78 is supposed to be a heavy platter Lenco. I first noticed this TT on eBay though and showed it to somebody who was a bit sceptical about the platter being a heavy one. But since you mention you had other Lenco TT's I'm sure you would be able to tell. What do you reckon shipping would be to Melbourne? Thanks!

I did a rough calculation and I reckon somewhere around $40.

I do have a box but might have to make it a bit shorter to cut down the volume. Weight is around 7kg max I guess.

Will try and give you a better estimate when I get home this evening.

Sorry, should have done some homework before advertising.
