Copying CD to CD
I am often loaned CDs some of which I'd like to retain .
Being ancient I still have a library of CDs.
I am not interested in a digital collection.
Seeking suggestion for a simple easy to use 80s type CD burner before I place a WTBuy ad.
brand model
if you have 1 unused in s cupboard PM me

Do you have a computer that was made in the last 10 years? If so, you probably already have a burner.

No cd slots on any household computer here

Then you need an external CD burner as @buddyev has mentioned

And thaf software I mentioned ( I use it all the time )

@djb haven't seen a blu-ray writer that can write blu-spec, not even Sony's.

Not sure this is a loss. All blu-spec and blu-spec 2 discs are remasters (no real A/B of any advantage then) and Redbook includes error correction anyway - blu-spec might help with playback but insofar as making copies goes where error checking is pretty severe, it offers no extra value. Not sure Sony is offering this as a 'here's something you can do at home' thing, more a 'buy our CD's now remastered and cut with a blue laser'.

A quick trip down to your local MSY or similar for any external writer will be fine. If you're worried about jitter, burn slowly. Some people use audiophile-specific media and specific burners that allegedly burn deeper pits and the like... some even burn only when mains electricity is most unloaded.

But IMHO you'll be fine with a regular burner, regular error checking, proper validation and if you're super concerned, external validation (something like Exact Audio Copy will do this for you).

Take note of this post.  There isn't really anything to gain on blu spec CD.  It's still 16/44 red book but in a blu disc cut by a blu ray laser.  It's just marketing by Sony.  Blu spec CD can be played with any CD player.  So if that's the case it can be read by any standard CD burner.

even though I have Apple at home I rarely use an Apple product to burn or copy CD.   So I have no experience in the Apple environment copying CDs.  The reason for that is that my kids uses the Apple gear and I have to resort to company issued devices.   I use a work issued Lenovo x240 laptop that runs Win 7. I also have Nero loaded that is a burning software and use a USB CD/DVD burner.    I also don't use any fancy discs and will only use what a Government Department uses and one Government Department who are a major client that I've been dealing with since 1994 only uses standard  Verbatim discs.   I rarely copy CDs these days as I ripped everything to a USB 3.0 HDD portable drive that's plugged into the OPPO105.  It's amazing how many CDs you can ripped on a 2TB drive.
