This is a truly excellent phono stage however I've decided to get another valve phono stage.

Lloyd Walker purchased this design from a company called American Hybrid Technology when they closed down. Walker Audio currently sell a version of this circuit for $20,000 USD albeit with some different parts and point to point wired etc.

It is hand built, completely dual mono, and uses the highest quality parts, a lot of them military spec. All wiring is silver, including power supply, all resistors are Vishay Z foil. It has audio grade Musicaps in the power supply. PCB's are mounted on wood. You get the idea! Everything is done because it sounds better which is the Walker Audio way.

Cartridge load is adjustable to what ever suits by installing two of required value resistor. This requires no soldering, just a bit of careful handling.

Gain can be set from 40 to 66 again by changing two resistors, no soldering. Currently gain is set at 66 and cartridge load is 270ohm

It is US voltage so the step down transformer is included. The phono stage is dead quiet on my 100dB speakers.

Was the only Class A rated Stereophile product for three years running in the late 90's. This unit was sold new around 2002. I contacted Lloyd recently to see if there would be anything that may need attention and he said no. All parts are ultra long life and nothing really goes wrong.

I don't know what else to tell you but in my opinion you won't find a better phono stage at the asking price.

One thing I will mention is that you have to set the DC to zero by way of two times trim pots (one for each channel) and the required multi meter is included along with the manual. Not a big deal but a bit fiddly. Once set just check it once every 3 months but I found it never changed.

Hello Friend

I/m interested in the above phono stage!!

I'm using a Zu Audio cartridge, with a output of 0.25 MV, I think, I'm away from home, until tomorrow!!, I normally run the above at around 100ohms, but wish to experiment, the loading!!, I'm not sure, but has the Phono stage , has dip switches, to home in, or RCA, resistance plugs??

Can you get back to me ASAP

Many Thanks
