ghost4man Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Item: PLINIUS 8200 MKIILocation: GOSFORDPrice: $1600Item Condition: Good Reason for selling: Upgrading to more gruntPayment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only plus Paypal fee plus shippingExtra Info: I purchased this Plinius 8200 MK II off Bill Mclean some 18 months ago if not earlier. Much is known about the Plinius range and this one is typical of just how good this amplifier goes. I would invite anyone to come over and listen to this driving my Magnepan IIIAs with ease and I would also invite anyone to speak to Bill Mclean to clarify his thoughts and time of purchase. I paid over $2k for this at the time and I believe I am setting a very fair price concomitant with its age, condition and capabilities. This amp easily drove my maggies. It has real grunt and the specs below are indicative of this if benchmarking is your thing. Like the Aksa's and Quasimodo I am selling this is very much a regrettable sale but given my foray into an active system where I will have TWO drivers representing permanent 2 ohm loads I am left with the very unwelcome position of having to acquire amplifiers which are unconditionally stable into 2 ohm loads. If this wasnt the case this sale would not be taking place. These amps very rarely come up as they are keepers. It is incredibly musical and really with its HT bypass and phono stage means that it can wear the audiophile, vinyl and home theatre hat. I should have mentioned in my previous ads but I do have boxes - non issue -for shipping. Here are plenty of reviews which show how much of a bargain thPer Manual: FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 20Hz to 20kHz ±0.2dB. -3dB at 5Hz and -3dB at 70kHz. ghost4man Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 Many thanks to @devgcl who bought it to my attention of the issue of a lack of remote. As stated when I purchased the Plinius there was no remote. That has never been an issue to me. However, for a potential buyer, it could be a deal breaker. I initially got in touch with Plinius and LifeStyle Audio in Sydney who indicated they could source me one. However, upon speaking to a colleague there is a better solution which I will do. I am going to supply with the Plinius a Logitech Universal Remote. I have already checked on their database and they support this model. The reason for this is simple. The original remote for this unit controlled volume and mute only. Thats it. As I see it you will get a lot more out of a universal remote unless someone especially wants me to source that. I will simply purchase the remote and leave it packaged so a potential buyer can then register and log in with their details. In doing all of this I wont raise the price and keep it as is which I think is extremely fair and competitive. On top of that its a ripper amp. Cheers Ozzie 1
