Since moving home and setting up a minimalist system, I have been listening to Radio Paradise extensively over the last month, using my Bluesound Node 2. I was an early adopter of this great station but have been absent from it's eclectic playlist for some time. This explanation from their home page says it all:

"Our specialty is taking a diverse assortment of songs and making them flow together in a way that makes sense harmonically, rhythmically, and lyrically — an art that, to us, is the very essence of radio."

I am losing count of recent songs and artists added to my Tidal and Spotify playlists from RP. An internet radio station highly recommended - again :thumb:

Wow, I've largely ignored Radio Paradise on my Node 2, but perhaps I should begin paying attention! Thanks for the pointer @wolster

Yes great curation. Same here, lots of interesting artists. And they have a 320k link which is pretty good for internet radio

Thanks Wolster.

Will be good for some late night listening on the occasions when I'm looking for something to chill to, but RRR, PBS and JJJ are all playing metal, trance, etc.

Has been my No.1 internet station for a good few Years for me - d/load onto my android up to 12 hours of music and easy to just play outside for GTGs and parties. [emoji106]
Everyone loves it !

Evil C (retin) put me onto it a few years back and it's great. They have some bad days of course and if you listen as often as I do you'll here some rotation going on but I've discovered a lot of new artists there.

One thing you wont hear is new Australian artists but if you like old ones like the Oils, Ivor Davies  the Church and Crowded you know who, then you'll hear them quite often.

Not a lot of British stuff but for easy on the ear stuff it's hard to beat.

Oh, and for all the non Roon, non Foobar, non Poweramp ect people who perhaps rely on old faithfull VLC like me, well no need to do anything as it's just sitting there in the 'Icecast' Radio directory.

VLC has a list of literally thousands and I stop counting after a while and just did a search in the app and up pops Radio Paradise in more than one guise too.

Nothing matches RRR or PBS for variety of musics and knowledgable announcers!

Absolutely Right!

Most of my radio listening is on those two stations, followed by our local 3MDR.

Biggest dilemma is choosing which program to be aligned with at subscription time!

It's just that the variety of genres means that there are going to be occasions when none of them is playing stuff that I'm in the mood for at the time.  Internet radio or DAB+ fills the gaps for me.

I've just noticed that FLAC is now a streaming option in the ipad app. This service just keeps getting better!

I guess that many of you know about Radio Paradise.  They play a mix of many styles and genres of music, mostly for people age 30 +, No heavy metal or Rap . Anyway, they are now streaming in flac . Their android app is in Flac ( written lossless as the choice of bit rate ) so it's quite enjoyable. They also have what they call PSD , which is : Play Something Different.  All the internet radio should have a PSD button. I just want to tell you guys about it because every people that I've talk to about Radio Paradise appreciate it.  Their beta web player will also be in Flac very soon.  https://beta.radioparadise.com/

I didn't know they were streaming in FLAC, I wonder if it is supported in FLAC on Bluesound yet. Will have to check it out tonight...

I've been an RP listener for a decade + and it's my regular radio listen. Hearing new music there enables me to search whole albums that I like.

I even record hours of it when not listening and play it in the car.

My other radio receivers haven't been seriously been used in years!

I read somewhere that the Radio Paradise stream via Bluesound is FLAC now. Is there a way of checking this? There are no options for RP in the Bluesound app as far as I can see.

To answer my own question, I see that with the latest firmware and app, the music shows as CD quality whilst playing. There are also four mixes to choose from now i.e. Main, Mellow, Rock and Groovy.

My (and many members here) absolute go-to for lossless casual listening with no ads - and the features just keep improving.

This is the email I received today. I post it here because they deserve our support:

2020 has been filled with many changes, but one thing remains the same: Radio Paradise is still dedicated to providing you with a high quality hand-crafted musical soundtrack, without any advertising of any kind. Ever.

Currently, less than 10% of our listeners are regular supporters. If you can afford to join them, please take 60 seconds to do that right now:

https://support.radioparadise.com

As always, we understand that sending financial support may not be an option, particularly during these turbulent times. That's fine. We hope that you'll continue to make RP a part of your life. We won’t restrict your enjoyment in any way.

If you haven't listened recently, we'd love to have you join us at
https://radioparadise.com, or grab our app for iPhone, Android, AppleTV, Roku, or FireTV. Or tell your smart speaker to play us, either directly or via TuneIn.

If you appreciate high fidelity audio, we offer lossless streaming via our web player, phone & TV apps, Sonos, Bluesound, Naim, Roon, and JRiver. We also now have a lossless stream URL you can add to WiFi receivers, etc.

Our web player and most apps offer the ability to skip songs, alternate music mixes, our thematic slideshow, and much more.

Thanks for being a part of the RP family!

Your grateful hosts,
Bill & Rebecca

Good reminder thanks @wolster, I only listen to Radio Paradise via headphones while working and also often when pottering around the house.

Oh and outside system during GTGs is set to it, rarely a dud track!

Well worth supporting. ?

Been listening to this for an hour or two since I read Woolies post.  I've often listened to the radio and thought I'd love to start my own station and play all the good stuff from my life. (I do go back quite a way) I'd throw in prog, intelligent pop, blues, soul, rock, non-corny country (-oh yes there is) all the way from the sixties to present. Hey they're all there already on Radio Paradise great stuff. Only thing, they're not adventurous or diverse enough for me. No Electronic or dance that I heard in my sample, nothing real heavy or Mezzanine. Still, a good effort, more power to them, not sure I'm motivated enough to contribute yet though. We'll see.

Might pay to look at options on Radio Paradise before you dismiss.

4 separate mixes to choose from:

Main, Mellow, Rock and World etc.

Should be something there for most people .
