My System Today

Recommended Posts

My system currently. Don't have a dedicated room so have to share with the family, Speakers not in the optimal spot but still the best sound I've had so far.

My system has undergone some radical changes in the past year or two - all of which have massively improved it.  As I just vacuumed the layers of dust from under the rack and repainted the rack shelves I thought it was time to take a pic.  As you can see it sounds magnificent.

I replaced my old model Elektra HD and the Elektra Pnyx. I now have a Sanders Magtech (magnificent beast) and a Primaluna EVO 300 pre with  B&W 805d3 and 2 SVS sb1000 subs.

I also went all in with digital, selling my Rega P3-24 and even removed my dearly beloved Arcam Alpha 9 cdp to the cupboard.  I use Roon to play my own collection of PCM and DSD files and CD rips.

Je regrette rien, though I admit to looking at turntable porn now and then, and I have kept a small collection of vinyls (records that is to linguistic reactionaries).

At the moment I’m streaming via Sonore Ultrarendu into a Gieseler Gross. In the near future - when I finally get my rack built - i will dispense with the Rendu and go direct USB.

My system at the moment.  SGR CX4F mkII's, Musical Paradise Deluxe mk3, Musical Paradise Preamp MP-701 mk2, Dr Feickert Woodpecker 2 TT, Kuzma Stogi S tonearm, Lyra Delos cart, Puffin DSP phono, Sowther vintage 1:10 SUT, Ambeo Soundbar, dual REL HT1205 subs.

The MP dac has been upgraded to dual mono ES3098pro dacs, fed by an external battery operated femto Crystek 957 clock and running EH6H30Pi output & 274B rect tubes with Mundorf Silver in Gold capacitors.  Same tubes set and caps with the pre.  All cabled with Bills WE cables.

Mid bass punch in that system must be intense! Those Rhythmik model subs are intended for higher crossover than normal subs, aren’t they?

I like it a lot 🎶

Cheers. I use the Anthem STR pre for bass management and ARC room correction, I’ve found the best setup for my taste is to leave the ATC’s full range and have a 120 hz cross over on the  Rythmik’s. So sort of a 3.5 way? This Seems to give the best bass detail and weight.

Does anyone own a Decware Zen triode? They certainly get a big enough rap!

If you do what do you think of the sound and what speakers do you use with it?

I don't have one Mark but have been trying to see if there is a used one for sale here at SNA....I have spoken to Steve a few times on email, getting so close to order one but I didn't.... you will need speakers around 90db min. Otherwise it won't sound as good.

Once my speaker project is finished, I will definitely plan to get the Super Zen triode with balanced input.

I have had a ZP3 Zen Triode Phonostage on order since the start of Feb, bit of an impulse purchase and going by their tracking sheet it is still a bit off starting. If you are looking at purchasing I would say a realistic wait time would be 10-12 months.
