Grizzly Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 I came across a fairly new and beefy PSU at the dump- it's currently attached to a cb radio but has an enormous toroidal transformer in it. Looks as big as the one in my Cambridge AVR! Also has an ally heatsink attached to the back with what appear to be two V-Fet style whatsits on it. Output (according to the sticker) is 13.8v and it's made by our American friends. The question is, with this output, will it be suitable for some DIY or external power source mods to existing equipment? Apologies for the clueless nature of old Beaker here:o

Here's a few, off the top of my head (assuming it works, of course): * Build a battery charger. * Use it as a power supply for a car stereo (for the garage, workshop, bedroom, whatever). * Sell it to someone who operates a CB radio at home.
Grizzly Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 Was kinda hoping it might be suitable as an external psu for a CDP or perhaps a DIY turntable (that thought's been on me mind lately:))
