crtexcnndrm99 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 While holidaying over Christmas, we briefly ducked into SA and unexpectedly came across a record store with some nice pressings. Surprise finds are always the best ones. 5
stevoz Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 Just now via Discogs, Public Image Limited "Happy?" NM Oz 1st pressing. Mastered on copper at EMI, Homebush by Chris Dimolianis. Haven't heard of him but apparently he never mastered on lacquer.....only did DMM. Active in the 80's. 6
Almaz Posted January 6 Posted January 6 This arrived this afternoon. I have to admit Sophie Zelmani is one of my favourite female artists. Not only does she have a somewhat hypnotic voice, but all her albums are wonderfully engineered and produced by Lars Halapi. This one also lives up to my expectations. Well worth a look ( listen ) if you are a fan. Really hope she does an Australian tour at some stage. 4

stevoz Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 (edited) Popped into the local 'Vintage Bazaar' on my way home from work....it's been awhile, might be some new stock and there was. Some classic 80's stuff! Picked all these up for $10 each, all appear NM but we see how they come up after a glue clean. The Motels "Careful" Oz 1st pressing, a Studios 301 Maxicut! 'Til Tuesday "Voices Carry" Oz 1st pressing. Loved the title track/lead single when it came out (I swear Aimee Mann had NOTHING to do with that!). Kids In The Kitchen "Shine" Oz 1st pressing. Weren't my favourite synth-pop band back in those days so we'll see. Tears For Fears "Shout-Remix Version" L/E 12" 45rpm maxi single. Edited January 10 by stevoz 5
jfds Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Arrived today, both great albums, Dutch Tilders lp especially . 4
NoCoder Posted January 13 Posted January 13 A few albums that I have purchased over the last few weeks. Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues - Fleet Foxes - Crack Up The National - Rome Angie MacMahon - Light, Dark, Light Again 5 1
metal beat Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan – Ballad Of The Broken Seas - finally a reissue of this classic. Brand new Actress album - Actress – Даррен Дж. Каннінгем 2 1
stevoz Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 (edited) Today from the local 'Vintage Bazaar', Jerry Harrison "The Red And The Black" Oz 1st pressing.....being glue cleaned now but looks NM. Unsurprisingly a heavy Talking Heads vibe on this from what I've heard but surprisingly (to me anyway), Jerry's only solo album, I thought he had more. PS: I momentarily forgot about his 'Casual Gods' project which were essentially JH solo albums, two of them....there's the more I was thinking of. Edited January 16 by stevoz 1
stevoz Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 (edited) When I was buying yesterdays LP, I checked out many more. If an album looks interesting, I'll photograph it and check it out on Discogs then return the next day if anything is worth buying. There was only one and this is it. Money For Rope self titled debut, an Aussie band that I've never heard of, 2012 Oz pressing on Thornbury Records, 100 pressed on clear vinyl, mine is number 61. 400 pressed on black vinyl. A touch of Sunnyboys at times here. While there, spotted this in a crate I skipped yesterday for $5, looks mint. Dire Straits' John Illsley "Glass" Oz 1st pressing....never heard it, worth a punt at that price. Edited January 18 by stevoz 4
stevoz Posted January 18 Author Posted January 18 (edited) Just now via Discogs, Thomas Dolby "Forty (Live: Anniversary Album)" French pressing (MPO), lacquer cut by SST (Christa Brüggemann) in Germany. From Discogs notes: "Live recording from a show held for friends at his fortieth birthday in Half Moon Bay, Ca".....he gave them a present. Discogs samples suggest a wonderful recording. stevoz Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 (edited) Just before I went to bed last night.....via Discogs, Grinspoon "Easy" 2023 ?Oz pressing on orange marbled vinyl. Hopefully it sounds better than the 'Chemical Hearts' greatest hits LP that came out a few years ago. Luckily not many songs off this ended up on that one, not even their big hit 'Rock Show', which was truly weird. Update: Apparently this LP got sold in their 'physical store' before they updated their Discogs list so they refunded me. Got another copy online from The Vinyl Store in Melbourne, pretty much same price. Edited January 19 by stevoz 2 1

Her first album was beautifully recorded, full, intimate and dynamic. A real classic. This album has no bass, no atmosphere, it's as if they mastered it from a bad MP3 copy. Can't listen to it, so it's been returned. 2 1
April Snow Posted January 26 Posted January 26 (edited) Oops not sure how this happened - I think naughty Susan did this when I was sleeping? Another autogaphed Morrissey. Numbered 1/28 signed copies from 2009. Came with the record too but I did not get that framed of course, played that Edited January 26 by April Snow 4
stevoz Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 (edited) Just now, online from 'The Vinyl Store'. Tried to get this recently via Discogs.....no, going for crazy money but lo and behold, the 50th anniversary reissue just came out 12 days ago. Snap! Skyhooks "Living In The 70's" remastered reissue, Oz release, German (Optimal) pressing. *Post edit: Have since discovered that the remastering was done by David Griggs, former LRB guitarist who now runs a mastering and production studio called 'The Production Workshop' in North Melbourne. looking forward to hearing what he's done with this classic album. The Robert "Gilbert" Gilbert mentioned inside the gatefold under 'Roadwork & equipment', ie: roadie, was my footy coach in Warrandyte for a couple of years. Greg McCainsh and his brother Andrew (the other roadie) were also from Warrandyte, so we used to call Skyhooks 'a Warrandyte band' but of course they weren't! Empire Of The Sun "Ask That God", their newest album, 'worldwide' release on L/E clear vinyl.....no idea where it was pressed, Discogs release notes have nothing. Released in July last year, I missed this completely! Just been listening to samples of all of it, it might be their best album since the brilliant debut, which sounds insane on vinyl. Hope this sounds as good. I wasn't right into the two albums in between but I've taken a punt on this one. Edited January 30 by stevoz 6 1
stevoz Posted January 31 Author Posted January 31 Came home from work via the local 'Vintage Bazaar' and scored this for $15, looks NM, glue cleaning now. The Motels "Shock" Oz 1st pressing. I have their 2nd to 5th releases now but not the first with one of their biggest hits 'Total Control'......might work on that. Their albums always sound fantastic, really well recorded and produced. 5
