djb Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 (edited) So where in Melb. would I buy 2 X 4 or 5 meter long 30 amp power cables with Oz plugs? @@Saxon Hall always fields these questions well😎 Edited June 1, 2016 by djb
Equaliser Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 This a hard one. Most IEC outlets and the IEC and AC connectors are rated at 10, 15 or 20amp's. I've never seen 30amp rated ones.
Addicted to music Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 (edited) You can get a 20A extension lead with the associate 20A plugs terminating the ends. To go 30A you need to go 3 phase wiring and terminate the ends with 20A plugs however I could be wrong. Talk to a registered electrician me think. Edited June 1, 2016 by Addicted to music 1
Telecine Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 What do you want to use it for? 32 amp power cords are very thick and unsuitable for domestic Hi Fi.

Gee Emm Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 @@djb You should have asked me whilst I was still in Melbourne
Trent Mc Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 (edited) 30 amp cables would be useless unless the cabling to the socket your running it from is of the same size. If you want the best results run a dedicated 20A outlet with its own breaker " each 20a outlet must have it's own mcb anyway" to the equipment. In your case you may have to do 2 runs. (This is what I have done in my new house. ) If you want the 2nd-best result - in @@djb's case, you would run additional circuits from the switchboard to either side of the radiator in the picture, say, 8 in all (one for each component). The 3rd-best result would be to have a circuit going from the switchboard to each side of the radiator and have a quad ppt on each. As @@djb lives in a smart Victorian terrace in inner-city hipsterville, all the above would require major work ... and be very expensive. Hence the only practical thing is to take extension cords from the 2 sockets up the other end of the room, to either side of the radiator and have quad power boards on each. Andy 1
Guest Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 Buy some '4.0mm2 3-core ordinary duty flexible circular cable' from an electrical wholesaler like Rexel and some large entry plugs to suit the cable such as HPM 90/15 plugs and 7P15 sockets, and roll your own. Or buy some screened 'audiophile' cables with Furitech plug and socket, like these: http://audioprincipe.com.au/australian-power-cables/signature-shielded-power-cable/
