FS: Acoustat Z22 Electrostatic Speakers.

Recommended Posts

Item: Acoustat Z22 Electrostatic Speakers.

Location: Mornington, Vic.
Price: $750 ono.
Item Condition: VG.
Reason for selling: Selling cheap for quick sale as need $ for expensive purchase I've just made.
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only
Extra Info:

Very rare speakers especially in Australia.  Acoustat is a very famous brand similar to Magnepan know famously for their high quality electrostatic quality.  These were originally 2500 Euro ten years ago.  You will hardly find any of these here in Australia.  They are nearly 50kg each.  They go very loud and best with at least 100-150 wpc amplifier.  The woofers have very nice deep bass and good kick.  The mids and highs are extremely clear (as electrostatics are).  They make string instruments and vocals sound amazing.  Great for classical, jazz and rock even electronic.  Selling cheap as just bought a very expensive dac and need to pay for it.  Prefer to sell within Victoria as shipping with the panels etc can be a little delicate.  They are beautifully finished in black piano gloss and almost in perfect condition.  One of the woofers has a slight chip in it about half the size of a 5c coin, besides that almost perfect (perhaps a small very unnoticeable mark here or there).  Pickup Mornington or could perhaps deliver for an agreed price.

Thought them Acoustats were American. Are they actually Chinese?

I had the same question too and they look quite a bit bigger than the ones on google image

Apparently a Chinese company took them over some 15 odd years ago and this is an example of the new direction they took.

Any info on their workmanship, quality etc?

Not the Chinese Rogers I hope.

How tall are these? Have been considering Maggie 1.7s which are 160cm, that would be my limit... or more correctly expressed, my wife's limit!

I thought you were taller than that last time we met! :D

Presume this is not sold. I'm wondering whether the panel can be easily removed from the woofer box? And the small chip you mentioned is it on the box or on the cone?

Hi.  Not sold as yet.  Can be quite easily removed and put back together (I did it with another person and took about 10 minutes).  The small chip is on the box; you can (hardly) see it on the second last photo.  Cheers.

You can use gloss black nail polish to touch it up. Not only will it closely match the piano black on the cab but it will look like new.

Thanks for that. I did that and it's virtually unnoticeable now :)

Thanks for the (late) response. I'm not too worried of the chip as long as not on the woofer cone. Seperation is just for transport. Will pm you shortly.

Not a prob (sorry, I only jump on here about once a week). Will speak then, cheers.

Also to add, Magnepan are not known for there electrostatic speakers, they make ribbon/planar magnetic speakers, though both technologies work in similar fashion. Once a upon a time in the late 80's to early 2000 Acoustat US was very well regarded for there electrostatic speakers.
