  1. Hoping someone can help me here. I just sold a set of Krix Phoenix MK1s to my old man (I'm moving). Came back today to help him hook them up and upon testing Billy Joel over them, it was obvious the sound was completely vacant of any high frequency sound (sounded terrible and muddy). Definitely no sound coming from the tweeters on both speakers. Confirmed nothing wrong with the receiver after testing it with another pair of small bookshelf speakers (tweeters worked). I took the tweeter out and tested it's resistance. They both tested 6 ohms as labelled on the side of tweeter. So I took the crossover out in the back of the speaker and this is where I'm out of my depth... Just wandering if anyone could suggested what to do from here or if new tweeters are needed, how I'd go about tracking them down. Cheers!
  2. Hi Everyone I need some advice in regards to a peculiar predicament I have. I have a pair of Yamaha JA-4281B Tweeters that I have been using for a three way horn system I am building. I've been using them with great success when I had a fully SS three way setup. Recently I bought a multimeter and measured the tweeters and didn't get a reading. The bass and mid-range (all Yamaha) show 13ish ohms (16 ohm speakers), so no problem there. I contacted a place in America who deals with these and they replied back saying that the tweeter uses a capacitor, and capacitors don't give a reading. I have confirmed that the diaphragm gives a reading and that the capacitor is the only thing that doesn't, so measuring at the posts does not give a reading. Now my dilemma is that I want to use a valve amp to run this speaker directly (three way active) and I have heard that valve amps need to have resistance otherwise I could blow an output transformer. Is this true and if so, do I have a way around this problem??? Thanks in advance Andrew

  4. Further information: Was initially skeptical when added to my system, but ended up being a great addition! Was always curious to try given the rave reviews from other members. Perfect addition to any system if you are chasing a wider soundstage, more air or unlocking that extra detail. Surprising but welcome impact to bass, firmer and tighter bass. Lots of information online and much better described than the above! Few links: http://www.townshendaudio.com/supertweeters/ https://www.the-ear.net/review-hardware/townshend-maximum-supertweeter-supertweeters http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue15/supertweeter.htm Would love to keep this in the system, however funds needed elsewhere. They come with the included 1.5m original Townshend cables with banana termination and original packaging. They are finished in chrome and in a great condition - please refer to the pictures.
