Hey everyone! I've been casually searching for a good vintage automatic turntable. From what I've found, today's options are either just okay, too pricey, or both. Vinyl is more of a side hobby for me, so I'm not ready to spend a lot on a high-end setup. Why an automatic turntable? I just like the convenience and ease of use. I used to have a Pro-Ject Debut III. It sounded fine, but I got tired of the fully manual operation pretty quickly. Right now, I'm using an Audio Technica Sound Burger with an upgraded LP Gear elliptical stylus. I love it because it looks cool and fits well with my Sonos system. But it's a bit of a hassle since you have to be nearby to flip records or turn it off. Last night, I found a Sharp Optonica RP-5100 on Facebook Marketplace for $350. I don't know much about these turntables, but this seems fairly solid, and I like its aesthetic. I'm not a big fan of vintage wood veneer. What do you think? Should I go for it or pass?

Hey there! I’ve got a bit of a humming issue with my turntable setup, which isn’t too uncommon. Here’s what I’m working with: Turntable - Audio-Technica LP3XBT (connected with Hosa/Amazon right-angle RCA and ground wire cable) Stylus - ATVMN95E Phono Preamp - NAD PP 2i (second-hand, near new condition) Speaker - Sonos Era 100 (connected via Belkin RCA to 3.5mm + Sonos adapter, usually grouped with other Sonos speakers) Power - All devices plugged into the same surge-protected power strip My setup is pretty new and entry level. Initially, I wasn’t planning on using an external phono preamp, but I found a good deal on a second-hand NAD and thought it might be better than the internal one. Everything is set up in a metal/glass cabinet (not ideal, but I’m short on space). The turntable and preamp are on different shelves, and I’ve kept the cables neat and connected properly. The Sonos speaker is about a meter away on a separate stand. Before adding the external preamp and using the internal one (directly into the Sonos speaker), there was no noise. But now, with the external preamp, there's a mild hum from the Sonos speaker. I’ve tried moving things around, which helped a bit. Unplugging the grounding wire made it worse! Lowering the Sonos line-in level from 10 to 8 reduced the hum to almost inaudible, but it also lowered the volume. Overall, it’s not too bad and the music sounds decent to me. I’m not expecting an audiophile experience haha. I can always return the NAD preamp and just stick with the internal one for now. Any tips or advice would be awesome!

Further Information: Pro-Ject 1Xpression Carbon Classic Turntable - Ortofon 2M Silver Cartridge and upgraded Acry-It Platter Original owner 1Xpression Carbon Classic is the 6th generation of the hi-fi classic Pro-Ject 1, which was presented for the first time in 1991. No other entry-level turntable concept is more audiophile and the current version includes a totally new carbon tone-arm with spin-off „EVO“-technology. It`s new innovative gimbal design features a resonance damping counterweight, that allows best performance for any cartridge. The approved belt drive design offers low noise AC motor with effective motor decoupling, ultra precision frequency DC-driven AC generator (like Speed Box) for ultimate speed stability. The complex main platter construction cannot be found elsewhere in this price range and is similar to the Xtension models. Advanced thermo plastic elastomers (TPE) are used in a sandwich construction with aluminium alloy for optimised resonance behaviour. Platter bearing axle is made from low tolerance chrome plated stainless steel running on Teflon bottom in a bronze bearing housing. Turntable main plinth is from low resonance MDF, which effectively is decoupled from structure-born noise by special absorber feet, that use TPE technology. As a special feature, this package comes with the outstanding 2M Silver cartridge, which features silver spools for ultimate fidelity. Beside its class-leading sound quality, this turntable convinces with classic elegance and four first-class finish options. • Belt drive system with synchronous motor • Main platter bearing made from stainless steel runs in bronze bushing with Teflon bottom • Heavy aluminium sandwich platter with TPE technology for superior resonance damping & felt mat • 8,6” carbon tonearm with Evo Kardan rings • Resonance damping counterweight design • Gold-plated RCA interconnect cable • Special turntable feet for effective decoupling for massively reduced risk of acoustical feedback 2M Silver Cartridge The Ortofon 2M Silver phono cartridge is an OEM-model that takes most of the characteristics of the 2M Red cartridge. The 2M Silver's special feature is silver-plated copper coils, the same coil wire material as in the 2M Bronze and 2M Black models, with a reduced number of windings. The 2M Silver will be an upgrade compared to the 2M Red due to a special rubber suspension and silver-plated copper wire material. This is a valve phono stage. Hagerman has 3 versions . I am not quite sure if ours are version 1 or 2. I think the valves are: 2-12AX7, 1-12AU7 and 1-5Y3GT rectifier. "ours" well it's a long story. Three or four years back after I noticed an ad in our classifieds "make an offer for 2 nearly completed Cornet phono stages starting at $250". I bought them of these stages for $251. It is only very recently that I was told the kits were priced around $2k each. Well you won't be surprised to hear that in the first instance they weren't quite the bargain they appeared to be. Both builds were seriously botched. "ours" well I gave 1 to @andyr as a thank you for allowing me to maintain his second system at my place. Andy isn't a valve man so he didn't get his up and running and sent it to Duc @lovetube. Who after communication with Jim Hsggerman started pretty much from scratch and got it working. There it rested for a year or so while I prevaricated. Andy proposed to sell his but offered it to me as a template for a tech to rebuild mine first. The sting from his cattle prod got me to find a tech and deliver unto him the phonos. This week they returned both work perfectly. Andy's had a small hum issue which the tech has eliminated. So it's not going to be for sale . Great sound eminating from my system at the moment it's attached to a Magnapan arm with a Stanton WS 100 cart. A month or two back we played Andys against the Cornet 3 and the 3 out performed the 2. We need to repeat the process I'm thinking a blind test might reverse that outcome.

Hello vinyl enthusiasts Considering a move to a Rega P8 to add a little bit extra to the system (and a little less from the bank balance). I currently run a Rega P3 with a few modifications, namely the Tango Spinner Sub-Platter and the Rega Neo PSU. Would a Rega P8 be a sensible step up? Are there other TT at this price point I should consider? Any feedback / perspectives very much welcomed. Cheers Nick

Hello fellow members I am asking for some help as First of all I know I am very lucky to have this choice and very torn between 3 new turntables that I have my eye on that are all used but all about the same price for Deck and arm and I want as my last ever end deck. I have had Vpis , Lp12, Mober lp12's Rega Rp9, Rega Rp10. Gyrodek and others that I have enjoyed but I want to buy a deck that I will decide on as my final turntable purchase. A semi to fullreference deck so to speak . My choices are 1) EAT forte- huge high mass turntable with- twice the size of 2 regas with wand uni pivot arm 2) Kuzma Stabi Reference 11 with Stogi arm 3) Vertere MG with SG arm Any thoughts let me know. cheers Adam

Further Information: I bought this vintage turntable from overseas, which is a 110VAC version, it is in good working condition as seen in photos. Very good review from www.vinylengine.com https://www.vinylengine.com/turntable_reviews.php?make=Denon&model=DP-3000 There is an imperfection where the back of the lid is cracked when transported to Australia. I have glued it and works just fine. Other imperfection is rust in the hinges due to its age. Included the Phono cable as in the photo which is a separated cable connect to the tonearm DIN connector. No Phono Cartridge is included. You need a step-down transformer to use this turntable. (the turntable already setup to work in 50Hz for Australia) Due to health issue, I am no longer able to enjoy this turntable so it is time to pass it on to someone who can enjoy this. Pickup only as it is too heavy to post.

Item: Dynavector KARAT 17D2 MKII Moving Coil Cartridge Location: Len Wallis Audio HQ Price: $725 Item Condition: Excellent Secondhand Condition Payment Method: Credit Cards, Cash, Paypal, Bank Transfers, ZipPay Shipping: We can shipping to anywhere in the 16 known universes Extra Info: Take your vinyl payback to the next level with this excellent DV Karat 17D2 MKII. As with all cartridges we have inspected this one under the microscope (actual images included below) and it is in excellent condition. (taken direct from the Dynavector website) Description: 17D2MKll Karat Diamond is the first cartridge built using 'dispersion' theory. Its Micro-Ridge stylus and very short (1.7mm) solid diamond cantilever give a huge reduction in 'frequency dispersion', unmatched dynamics and a high frequency extension all the way up to 100kHz. The latest patented magnet circuit design increases the output to 0.26mV with crystal clear mid-range and treble even during the largest symphonic crescendos. Features and Improvements: Dynavector Karat is notable for its gemstone cantilever. This 1.7mm long and 0.25 mm in diameter solid diamond cantilever has its 0.06 square mm stylus mounting hole precision cut by a laser beam machining precess. The Micro Ridge of 0.06 square mm nude diamond stylus is carefully mounted in the cantilever. The armature of 0.9mm square and 0.4mm thick is much smaller than normal, upon which are wounded 70 turns per channel of 11 micron fine wire. Due to the short rigid construction of the cantilever the 17D2MKll showed a flat frequency response up to 50KHz. The New 17D2MKII now features Dynavector's unique magnetic flux damping and softened magnetism (patent) along with powerful Neodymium magnet that combine to eliminate any hardness or irritating edginess that commonly occurs in many moving coil cartridges. This has also enabled to increase the output of 0.26mV. Specifications: Type Low output moving coil cartridge with flux damper and softened magnetism Output Voltage 0.26mV (at 1KHz, 5cm/sec.) Channel Separation 25 dB (at 1KHz) Channel balance 1.0 dB (at 1KHz) Frequency response 20 - 20,000Hz (± 1dB), 20 - 100,000Hz Compliance 15 mm/N Tracking force 1.8 - 2.2 g Impedance 32 ohms Recommended load impedance > 100 ohms Cantilever 1.7mm length, 0.25dia solid diamond Stylus tip Micro-Ridge Weight 5.3 g

Brought about a year ago as used and it has been used occasionally as my main listing is digital. It is working with no issues and as a precaution a new belt bought from Audio Connection was installed when I got the TT. Previous owner had an Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge installed. While I do not know the age of the cart it appears to have plenty of life left as I can see. Potential / interested local buyers are welcome to audition the TT. Sale includes the acrylic dust cover shown in photos and the original power supply. I do not have the shipping box so local pick up only. Specifications (From the Manufacturer) CONSTRUCTION DETAILS - Resonance-optimised bodywork; body comprises medium-density wood fibre or pressure-formed solid wood; upper layer incorporates high-tech satined plastic compound. Further Information: EXPRESSION OF INTEREST Life change and needing funds for a new investment, sadly looking to part with the below (Crazy I know). I have loved upgrading from a simple $300 project to the below! If there is genuine interest I will update with significantly improved images of every angle possible, all of the below are in mint condition and original packaging etc. Looking to sell as a complete unit rather than individual items... Happy to audition if you are local to Melbourne, it will come with a clear cover for the TT ACOUSTIC SIGNATURE TORNADO NEO Modeled on the High End Invictus Turntable, the Tornado Neo offers the best of Acoustic Signature design at a modest price point. Complete with 4 silencers on the platter that dampen vibrations, capacity to have up to 3 different tonearms and diamond coated spindle on the bearing, this is a serious turntable from a company that's serious about turntables. You won't find any mention of colouration, bloom or muddiness in descriptions of this turntable. If you're after the fluffy uncontrolled vinyl sounds of the 70s, there are many other options out there. If you want to hear what modern turntable design of the 21st century can do when every detail of the Turntable is examined for its inertia and low resonance properties, you must look at an Acoustic Signature. The result of though-out engineering coupled with an exposed yet beautiful industrial design is a turntable that is sounds devastatingly clear and musical and shows off its engineering prowess with a raw beauty. ACOUSTIC SIGNATURE TA-2000 NEO TONEARM (12 INCH SILVER) This is where the Acoustic Signature Tonearms start to get really really good. We jump up to an anti-skating knob which is capable of much more precise adjustments in anti-skate. And don't underestimate the importance of anti-skate with any reasonable quality cartridge. It can clean up woolyness in the sound. This little feature gets the tonearm to a point where those differences are very noticeable. The TA-2000 NEO also has better bearings than the TA-500 NEO and the TA-1000 NEO. Acoustic Signature say they are 'almost friction less ball bearings' and they're not ones to over exaggerate. Van Den Hul Crimson XGW Stradivarius (LESS THAN 100 HOURS ON THE CART) Van Den Hul's Crimson Stradivarius is a favorite in the CAV Reference System. The Crimson is the entry model into the Stradivarius reference line of cartridges and the most popular. The popularity is due partly to the fact that it's the most affordable, but also because it's the easiest to mate with a wide range of gear...bear in mind that the extreme levels of channel separation produced by the Colibri and Colibri Signature require the other equipment in the system to be matched very precisely. With a body handmade of Hawaiian koa wood triple-coated with a special Stradivarius-type lacquer, the Crimson uses 24-karat gold coils and a cantilever that is solid boron with a VDH Type 1s (2×85-micron) stylus. Our reviewer Andre Jennings found the Crimson XGW Stradivarius to be impartial across most of the frequency spectrum (including the presence range), with large macro-dynamics from the power region on down.

Ekos Mober Linn LP12 - EKOS Arm
dafloro6601 posted a topic in Stereo, Home Cinema, Headphones Components
Further Information: Selling my Mober Linn LP12 with Ekos tonearm and Ortofon Cadenza Black cartridge. This turntable, designed and made by Edmund Chan in Singapore, is very rare with reportedly less than 10 full Mober Linn LP12 units in the world today. The table comes with a new and genuine Linn LP12 lid and includes a Van Der Hul 501 Silver hybrid tonearm cable. The price of the cartridge and tonearm alone well exceed the asking price of this turntable. The table can easily compete with many high-end tables out there, and truly punches above its weight. The current cartridge was installed by Frank Prowse, and has less than a few hundred hours of use. I am selling as I own a DCS Bartok streamer, and I am simply playing less vinyl than before. I do not have the original box, as I bought the turntable from a Stereonet member here in Perth. The unit is flawless, and does not have any damage, markings, scratches or any defects of any kind. The table has been in dust free/smoke free room since purchased. As I don't have the packing boxes, I would prefer a local sale, but happy to ship at the expense and risk of the purchaser (who will also need to arrange shipping). The Mober parts include: Top Plate High grade Bearing Arm Plate and suspension system which is like Linns Keel KORE and Trampoline and upgraded Cirkus Bearing Platter in Aluminium DC motor and external power supply Inner platter made in different alloys External platter different metal to Linns Bearings and inner platters that run and run. This table was also featured in the Sound + Image hifi magazine (PDF files of the article attached including photos) For further information, please PM me, as I have plenty of photos showing the internal machined parts. Will also consider selling the table without the Cadenza Black cartridge at a modified price. This is a rare opportunity to access a turntable of this caliber. Further Information: I am looking to sell my Commonwealth Electronics (branded Philips Vision And Sound) 12D3 transcription turntable along with a PKE (Poul Kirk Electronics) ECMS-01 preamp. The turntable was manufactured in 1973 and the serial number is P1330. It is in the original box and shows very little sign of wear. It seems to run smoothly, but makes a slight, repetitive sound when running on 78. The original manual, old warranty card and desk cutout is included. The Preamp would have been used along with this amp at the ABC and has a small built in speaker that would've been used to cue up the record. I believe these units were custom built for the ABC. This project has been sitting on the shelf for too long, so I've decided to move them on to give them another chance to bring joy. Open to offers. Can post, but prefer pickup and sometimes travel to Melbourne.

Further Information: Hi I have finally decided to sell my Once Analog Turntable due to having not really used it in years. If you are un-familiar with the Once brand, it was made by a local Australian manufacturer Vince Hamilton and has for a number of years ceased operations. I originally delved into the higher end audio world around 2011/2012 and after having seen this model at the Sydney Audio Club around that time I contacted Vince and bought it directly from him either at the end of 2012 or early 2013. The Corian model I have, to my knowledge, was a one-off as I think Vince decided it was either harder to work with or a cost related issue in making more like this. But seeing as this was around 10 years ago, the details are a little fuzzy. I probably was/am a tad out of my depth in running and owning a turntable like this and the fact I have not seriously used it in a long time, I want to sell it to someone who will appreciate it more and actually use it. I am open to having inspections, but it is not setup correctly calibration wise and could probably do with a check over for optimal running/lubricant. For serious buyers that aren't hours and hours away, I would also be willing to personally deliver the table. I am about two hours or so outside of Sydney, so would consider that type of distance. Shipping would likely be expensive as it is quite heavy and I'd worry about sending it through the post. The price listed is probably on the higher end, I am unsure what kind of interest there will be for this and having not been researching or kept up with the community unsure on pricing. I am open to offers and negotiation. The table is in very good condition and is how I received it, but has been sitting idle for a long time. I noticed today that on the white tonearm cable, the plastic casing has fallen away a little. But that is all that appears to have changed. As per the photos, everything you see is included: - Once Corian Turntable - Rega Tonearm (Unsure what model) - Once speed box controller - Once record Clamp/weight - Perspex Cover - ME RIAA Pre-Amp (Which was provided/bought through Vince) - Garrett Brothers Cartridge (Although this is a pretty cheap cart that I had on a previous cheaper table, I had always intended to upgrade it, but never ended up getting to) - Stylus Pressure Gauge (Bought separately myself, I think it was between $100-$200 at the time, but cannot remember) - Oil (Came with the table when Vince delivered it) - Brush As a bonus, I have a small record collection I may offer a choice for a couple to be included with the table if the person likes any. Review/Writeup about Once (I am unsure if there are differences in the build to what's reviewed here, but I imagine it is the same pretty much.) https://www.stereonet.com/au/reviews/once-analog-record-player-mk-ii#:~:text=So%2C the Once Analog is,only some%2C are direct competitors. Thank you.
