  3. Hi all, wondering if anyone has a user manual / guide for a Thor PS10. My primary query is around the power button's blue LED - occasionally mine flickers - not sure if this is informing of anything i should be aware of. My model is the one with silver sides, as per the attached picture Cheers Scott
  4. Hiya! I wanted to share my recent experience with my power setup as it surprised me and might be worth an experiment or two for you. Bit of a mega post but stick with it for teardowns and polarity adventures. I bought an Audio by Van Alstine humdinger to try and nail the very faint hum from my Innuos LPSU. Turns out it didn't. The hum is very faint but I have a million smart devices around and I thought it couldn't hurt to leave it. Recently I decided to sell the humdinger to 'tidy up a bit' after a speaker upgrade and as it didn't remove the hum. But I was listening to the Darren & Duncan Hifi podcast on critical listening and I realised I never checked to see if it sounded different. So I unpacked the humdinger found a US plug to IEC, oh did I mention the humdinger is wired for US plugs? Before anyone panics I checked with AVA and it is rated for 220v and 15amps. My jury rig across the floor (didn't want to get behind the shelves for the quick listen) was el cheapo power cable to humdinger and mediocre power cable to my amp. Blow me down - more bass (vs amp into Thor power filter). Also, better dynamics and overall clarity. Hmmmm...I have some nice power cables from Audio Principe which I had previously used into the humdinger with $6 korjo AUS to USA adaptors. Like many Hifi nerds I had previously ordered a war chest of bits and bobs including shielded power cable and USA plugs with a view to taking the adaptors out. Didn't assemble anything cos I was worried about polarity. The USA has the hot pin on the opposite side to AUS and I couldn't wrap my head around the 'right' way to correct it ( don't throw things!!). I was really curious (worried) the cheap adaptors were holding the US Polarity and in fact swapping it through my setup. I thought about buying a tester but ended up tearing the adaptor apart ($6 isn't much for peace of mind!). Turns out the adaptor was using a clever twist to swap the hot pin (correctly). But it was a pretty small plate and didn't connote a solid "HIFI" connection. Back to the war chest and I got a Volex (3 X 1.3mm shielded) cable which came with IEC already fitted. I added a qualtek grounded Nema 5-15 US plug. After thinking it through I realised the IEC on the amp end and into the humdinger will keep polarity. So I wired the cable as appropriate for USA. Using my audio Principe into the humdinger and Volex out I have decent cables and even more satisfying tunes out of my setup. I kept the Thor out of the amps circuit because I was so pleased with the sound. If you read this far good on you! Obv I don't know what changed the sound cos I changed four elements but all I can say is experiment (safely!).
  5. Hi Guys, Just chasing opinions (either positive or negative) on using one of these Power conditioners. I've read recently that you should plug your amp into the unfiltered outlet of the power board to avoid it hindering dynamics? Any other thoughts? Cheers
  6. Further information: Selling a Richter Thor 10.6 subwoofer, it's in as new condition, comes with the manuals, power cord, original packaging and the grille, this a great compact subwoofer that gives some nice big, powerful sound that is great for music and movies thanks to the versatility of port tuning and the 3 dsp modes. 7. Item: Bladelius Thor Mk2 Integrated Amplifier Location: Sunny Nanango Price: $1900 plus postage Item Condition: Excellent (see photos) Reason for selling: The Bladelius is the next amp that has to move on. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (buyer to pay paypal fees if choosing paypal) Extra Info: A nice amp but not one that worked well with my Lenehan S2 speakers. It came across a little better on a pair of ML2s and better again (in my opinion at least) on a pair of ML3s so I'm blaming synergy. It also worked very well with my LS50s, as odd as that probably sounds. This is the Thor Mk 2 Ladies and Gents, it does not contain a built in DAC, if a built in DAC is what you are after then you will need the Mk 3. Comes with remote but no manual and no original packaging. I do however have access to many boxes and a near limitless roll of bubble wrap so packaging will not be a problem. Pictures: I'm going to trial a sliding scale of pricing with the Bladelius. For a week after listing the price is $2300, for the next week it will be $2200, for the third week after listing the price will be $2100 and from then on the price will be $2000.

  9. Item: Thor PS 10 Smart Power Station with 8 outlet smart board outlet Location: Grafton NSWPrice: $600 plus paypal, postage etc.Item Condition: GoodReason for selling: Need funds and simplifying.Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD OnlyExtra Info: I bought this from another member here on SNA. It is the complete item, in other words it is the main unit, as well as the 8 outlet power board. It is in good condition with the original packing material box etc. I have used it a little bit and it is quite amazing how it keeps the voltage regular. At my house the voltage goes from 242 down to 230 , and fluctuates mostly between 233 and 238. The Thor just kept it at 240 as I set it up to do. Lots of info on the net. I am downsizing/simplifying and need funds, so unfortunately this (and other toys) have to go. Pictures: Please refer to below. Here is some comment about signs of age, none of which effect performance, but you need to know. First photo: The right hand side looks like there are some bumps or bubbles. It is uneven surface. It was always like that . Second picture: You cant see it in the first one but on the left hand side there is a scuff mark. Third picture: The lid has some scuff marks and some uneven paint surfaces.
