  1. Evening gents. I just purchased a SVS Sb-2000 subwoofer to go with my Rotel RA-1592 and B&W603 S2 (non-anniversary edition) which I use exclusively for music. My question is around managing the crossover frequency cutover point. The Rotel doesn't have crossover management on the amp. I currently have the Rotel sub-out connected to the LFE plug on the SVS (using a single RCA cable), with the sub set to 80hz. I feel like I've got 2 sub-optimal choices: Set the sub crossover lower, to say 40hz so there's minimal overlap between the sub and speakers Or keep it at 80hz and ignore the overlap Is this something to be concerned about, and if so, is there an easy/cheap fix? If not a concern, is there a preference either way? It seems the Rotel is mainly suited as a 2.0 and not a 2.1, but keen to hear views/potential fixes because I otherwise love this amp. Also worth noting this is being used in an 8x6m glass heavy open plan living area. Many thanks,
  2. Further Information: I was very happy with this sub, but it was for a second system that just didn't get used enough. The proceeds of this sale willing be going towards an upgrade of the main system. The app control is very convenient for adjusting the sub from the listening position. Also comes with original packaging.
  3. Hi all, Seeking some advice on the state of the subwoofer market in Australia. I've been reading various threads on overseas forums such as AVS Forum and the options in the USA seem plentiful compared to Australia. I don't see a whole lot of commentary in this forum for best sub options available locally so keen to hear from members. I've currently got an SVS PB 2000 sub and thinking about upgrading. My dedicated theatre/media room is 35-40m2 and I use my subs for maybe 70% movies and 30% music. I'm currently running a single sub but am investigating moving to dual subs and adding some room treatment to further optimise my setup. Further details on my room are in my Build Thread in my signature block. I'm looking for tight, musical bass with big "mid-bass" chest slam and the ability to rumble into the teens (sub-20Hz). I like ported subs for movies but I know there are some very highly regarded sealed options that can still pressurise a room well. I tend to listen to movies around -20dB at present (given my neighbours and family) so definately won't be pushing the setup anywhere near reference levels. I have a fair amount of space in my room so I'm not afraid of heavy, larger ported enclosures (within reason). Here are some options I've been looking at in the market. I note prices range from $2k - 5k depending on the model. I'm not opposed to one very good sub if performance for the $ stacks up, but cheaper dual subs may be a better option. I could always start with one and then save for another down the track. Rythmik: 3 year warranty on electronics, 5 years on drivers AU distributor Audio Salon; Red Spade Audio also do custom subs with Rythmik servo kits FVX15 - 15" ported, 400WRMS, 12 - 200 Hz (-2 dB @ 17 Hz, -6db@12hz) with LFE input, roughly $2,500) FV15HP - 15" ported, 600WRMS, 12 - 200 Hz (-2 dB @ 17 Hz, -6db@12hz) with LFE input, roughly $2,800) F18 - 18" sealed, 900WRMS, 10 - 250Hz (+/-3db) with LFE inputs, roughly $3,080) SVS: The safe option, excellent local support and warranty, newest gen have app-controlled adjustments 5 year warranty PB 2000 Pro - 12" ported, 550WRMS, 16Hz to 290Hz +/-3dB (standard mode), roughly $1,980 - A pair of these is a very compelling economical option PB 3000 - 13" ported, 800WRMS, 16-260 Hz +/- 3 dB (standard mode), roughly $2,970 - One of these and a PB 2000 Pro is another option Power Sound Audio (PSA): Deep Hertz Audio are no longer stocking these so it seems PSA is no longer an option for Australia. I have read some very good things about some of their recent offerings though which is a shame. Very well priced and 5 year warranty too. TV1512 - 15" ported, 960WRMS, tuned to 12Hz (can't find exact specs), US$1,525 V1812 - 18" ported, 960WRMS, US$1,725 JTR Speakers: Captivator 1400 - 18" ported, 1400WRMS, 16-200Hz +/-1dB, Now an obsolete model but may have fit the bill well for my room and not as big as the current models Captivator 2400 - 18" ported, 2400WRMS, 12-165hz +/-3dB, (in room response below 10hz), US$3,000 - Too big and expensive with extensive multi-month delays reported. Shipping also very high. Seaton Sound: F18+ (primary woofer with the option of a slave enclosure) - 18" sealed, 4000WRMS, anechoic response: +/-3dB from 12Hz to 200Hz outdoor response (LF Adjust @ full clockwise), typical in-room extension to 7-12Hz, US$2,700 - Expensive with extensive multi-month delays reported, shipping also very high SubMersive HP+ (primary woofer with the option of a slave enclosure) - 15" sealed dual opposing woofers, 4000WRMS, anechoic response: +/-3dB from 12Hz to 200Hz outdoor response (LF Adjust @ full clockwise), typical in-room extension to 7-12Hz, US$2,700 - Expensive with extensive multi-month delays reported, shipping also very high Krix: Specs wise these don't seem like much of an upgrade from my current SVS? Hard to tell with limited data and reviews out there to my knowledge. Volcanix - 12" ported, 450WRMS, 15Hz-200Hz in room response, 5 year warranty, roughly $2,200 Cyclonix Active Series SX - 18" ported, 450WRMS, 20Hz - 250Hz (-10dB), 5 year warranty, $4,100 VAF: Big $ and the specs don't seem to stand up to the USA offerings? Hard to tell with limited data and reviews out there to my knowledge. Gravitas - 13" ported dual woofers, 750WRMS, 19Hz – 250Hz - 3dB, roughly $5,000 Am I missing some other local options that would compare against some of the above? I am leaning towards the Rythmik subs at this point. The SVS subs by far offer the best bang for the buck but I think the Rythmik may offer better sound quality, output and low Hz tuning. Some key questions: - How important is to to go two identical subs if going duals? Will it be difficult to integrate one ported and one sealed model of different sizes, brands etc? E.g. one Rythmik F18 and one FVX15; or one Rythmik FV15HP and F12; or one SVS PB 3000 and a PB 2000 Pro. - What do you think there is a best time of year to order a sub? - Black Friday sales are coming up in November but I don’t think they’ll have an impact on some models e.g. Rythmik due to their distribution arrangement; SVS could have some good bargains though. I'm no doubt opening a can of worms but keen to hear opinions. Discuss.
  4. Does anybody have any information on the newly announced 3000 series?
  5. Hi All, I'm chasing some better chest thump/tactility when I watch movies. My current setup is somewhat okay but I believe I'm missing out on a lack of a subwoofer. Currently I'm running the following gear: Speakers: PSB Imagine X2T https://www.psbspeakers.com/product/imagine-x2t-tower-speaker/ AVR: Marantz SR-82 (vintage AVR currently connected via 3.5mm->2xRCA from TV headphone jack) In my research so far, I've found that SVS Subwoofers are well received amongst the online communities. I'm tossing up between going as big as possible for the subwoofer vs. getting a smaller one I can place closer to the primary listening position... Hence, I have short-listed the SVS PB-2000 Pro and SVS 3000 Micro. My room layout is like this: Walls are 2.1m high gyprock (drywall) and floors are floating hybrid on a concrete slab. There is a glass window from floor to ceiling on the left and bottom couches, with no curtains. Another option not shown above is that I can put the Micro behind the Primary listening position couch. With my goals of better chest-thump/tacility in mind, do you guys think I should go with the 3000 Micro or PB-2000 Pro in my proposed layouts? Thanks in advance for reading this far and your thoughts!
  6. Hi folks, I am moving to a new property, and looking at wireless options for my existing SVS PB10-NSD subwoofer. I am fairly happy with the sub, so dont intend to change anytime soon. However, as running a long cable to sub is not looking viable at this point in time, I am considering the many 2.4Ghz wireless kits available in the market. I guess what I wanted to know is, how is the quality of these kits ? Do they face any interference from the wifi or home appliances in 2.4 Ghz spectrum ? Please advise. Thanks.
  7. Hello there friends. This is my first post to the forum and I'm quite new to the game of Hifi. My system currently consists of a Peachtree Nova 65se powering a pair of KEF LS50's on my desktop, nearfield, in a small room that is 2.7m x 3.3m. I love the ls50's but I now have the nagging need to purchase a sub to accompany them. At the moment my two choices are the REL T5 and the SVS SB-1000. I need some advice and opinions on the following. 1.) I know the REL T5 can be connected to this system, but can the SVS? 2.) What would be the more suitable sub for this application, obviously the subs are quite different, 12" vs 8", with the SVS being quite a bit more powerful at 300w vs 125w for the T5. Even though it is such a small room would the more powerful option still be the go? 3.) the two subs are the same price as far as I can tell, at $999, so are we dealing with a difference in sound quality? Any input would be great, thanks guys.
  8. Hi All, I’m planning to buy a pair of surround speaker and a pair of Ceiling speaker. I have now Paradigm Premier 800F front and Paradigm Premier 500C centre. For surround I have now pair B&W M1 speaker and ceiling I have pair of Canton 445. Subwoofer I’m using SVS SB3000. Amplifier I’m using Marantz SR6013. I’ve upgraded fronts centre subwoofer amplifier between 6months to a year ago. Now I’m ready to upgrade surround and ceiling speakers. I’m not sure if I must use paradigm surround and ceiling to complement my front and centre or should I go other brand with better crossover and better value. my budget $1000-$1500 for both surrounds and ceiling speaker. Thanks in advance for all suggestions.
  9. G'day, I'm looking to pickup a subwoofer for my studio (where I work, so listen to music in the day) that is also my home theatre by night. The room is a separate dwelling that's 3.77m x 3.77m (22 feet) with vaulted ceilings, I think it's about 4500 cubic feet (maybe a bit more?). The room is bright, wood polished floor boards, wood vaulted ceiling, 35% Windows on walls. Current setup I have Goldenear Triton 2's (inbuilt powered subs) and their Super Center XXL up front with some older bookshelf speakers for surrounds being powered by a Marantz SR6010. I have no separate sub at the moment. So I'm on the lookout for a sub that will do a great job for movies and games (music is already pretty sweet with the Tritons up front, they do provide a surprising amount of LFE during movies too but looking for more and lower response). I'm thinking at once I have the sub I'll run An LFE cable to the sub and split the second sub out on the amp to the LFE ports on the Tritons (will see how that sounds) So I'm thinking a beast of a ported sub would be best. Looking for a great deal and I can spend up to about $2k....happy to organise shipping from anywhere to Byron Bay... Have considered something like a pair of second hand SVS PB 2000s (or would 1 actually be enough for my room?) or 1 SVS Ultra PB13... Thoughts? Have a nice sub collecting dust?

  24. Item: SVS PB12-NSD Subwoofer (2014) Location: Brisbane QLD 4502 Price: $600 ONO Item Condition: Good 7/10. I haven't gone over it thoroughly so am being conservative Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash Extra Info: Up for sale is my 2014 SVS PB12NSD , which is the previous model to the current PB-2000. Main difference is the PB-2000 has the 500w Sledge amp and the PB12 has the 400w Sledge amp. Both have a very similar driver based on the excellent Peerless XXLS 12" . The PB-2000 is also tuned slightly lower. According to Ed Mullen from SVS, the PB-2000 has about 2dB more output between 30Hz-80Hz (at max output), this is due to the extra 100w in the 500w Sledge amp, and the PB2000 is tuned @ 17Hz whereas the PB12 is tuned to 19Hz. I've had the PB1000, PB12-NSD and the PB-2000 all in my house at the same time and the PB12 is very close to the PB-2000, and both were a huge step-up from the PB-1000 in both output and sound quality (it takes roughly 2 x PB-1000s to match 1 PB12-NSD in the low bass region). This sub is extremely linear and has very low distortion, even when pushed to it's limits as seen here http://www.audioholics.com/subwoofer-reviews/pb12-nsd http://www.soundandvision.com/content/review-svs-pb12-nsd-subwoofer#Wq68Dk6jx2gVO9rQ.97 The negatives 1. As I was running this with my PB-2000 I requested to buy a matching badge with the new logo on it for my PB12 (which SVS sent 2 of, for free, from the US, fantastic CS!) So my PB12 has the newer black SVS logo badge (which I think looks much better anyway) If needed I'm sure it could be removed as the original blue one is behind it 2. One of the tiny "cups" that the grill pins are placed in is loose, a drop of super glue will fix it. I've never noticed it before because I never take the grill off. 3. Since running it with my PB-2000 (via an RCA splitter from LFE jack on my AVR) there have been a couple of times the "Auto on" didn't work and I've had to flick it to "ON" and then back to Auto. SVS advised that it is most likely because of the LFE signal being split and Audyssey setting my sub trim fairly low at -10dB. They advised lowering the gain on the subs and re-running Audyssey or leaving them on all the time as the Sledge amps draw very little power in Standby mode, but as it's only happened a handful of times in the last year I haven't bothered I'm at Petrie (4502) on the North Side of Brisbane and am looking for around $600 Please let me know if your interested cheers Jamie Pictures:
