  1. Further Information: Furutech SpeakerFlux speaker cables The Effective Diameter of Your Music! The link between speakers and amplifiers is one of the most critical in a system. Speaker cables carry high current and require low resistive loss to avoid turning part of the signal energy into heat; high performance construction techniques call for large cable diameters or bundles of smaller conductors for an effective large diameter. Low resistance also keeps an amplifier’s damping factor high avoiding uncontrolled driver movements. Furutech specifies α (Alpha) OCC Pure Transmission conductors terminated with beautifully-engineered high-performance rhodium-plated nonmagnetic pure copper spade connectors for the amplifier end and rhodium-plated banana connectors at the other end. Other connector combinations are available on request. The substantially-built extremely nonresonant connector bodies are finished in layered carbon fiber and stainless steel. The dielectric/insulation is high-grade PE reducing capacitance and improving mechanical damping for greater resolution, clarity, powerful dynamics, plus an ultra-quiet soundstage in which music develops more fully without artificial upper-frequency “presence region” glare. The smooth, natural, utterly musical presentation is down to meticulous engineering and careful audition of various suitable materials. These results in the superb overall balance of qualities that Furutech has long been known for that allows you to feel, experience and communicate with music. Specifications: • α (Alpha) OCC Pure Transmission Conductors • Beautifully-engineered high-performance rhodium-plated nonmagnetic pure copper spades Type CF-201R • Nonmagnetic rhodium-plated banana connectors Type CF-202R • Dielectric/insulation: High grade PE reduces capacitance for improved vibration damping • Results in greater resolution, clarity, powerful dynamics, and an ultra-quiet soundstage in which music develops more fully without artificial upper-frequency “presence region” glare. Purchased them used (Demo pair) have changed one end to be Banana Plugs as easier to fit into the Amp The RRP$ is four times the amount I am selling these.

  5. Firstly, discussions on cables and amplifier differences tend to cause a lot of heat and it's not my intent to do so, I am just asking for opinions on this. I have noticed in looking up US forums versus those in UK, Australia and elsewhere, that there is a divide in the opinion of regarding whether there are differences in cable performance, be it power cables or speakers or interconnects, and some also think that if you equalise the levels of amps, there is no difference there either. The Americans tend to think it's total hogwash, this is a bit of a stereotype as some there do believe it, but in general, the opinion is that, there is no need to get another more than bell wire or a kettle cord. IMHO, I have heard some differences, but I tend to subscribe to the 10% rule and limit my expense on cables / HDMI etc to that amount. I have also heard difference in amp quality and I am happy to pay more for it. Higher grade amps will also sound better due to their better power supplies and the potential increase in dynamics. What do you think?
  6. Hi I'm looking for a few speaker cable recommendations please for all my speakers? I've just bought an Audiolab 8300A to pair my front Q Acoustics 3030i speakers. I also have my Yamaha RX-2065V receiver with four Q Acoustics 3020 speakers, Q Acoustics QB12 subwoofer and Q Acoustics 3090ci centre speaker. I was thinking QED Reference XT40i for the front 3030i's because I can get them at a relatively good price (5m pair for $240) or the AudioQuest Rocket 11 (5m pair for $270). QED XT25 for the 3020 speakers as the runs are going to be longer with these being used for surrounds for movies. QED Reference XT40i for the QB12 subwoofer. I'm quite open to recommendations though (but would be interested in your reasoning) and buying used items speaker cables. Thanks in advance.
  7. Hi StereoNET enthusiasts - I'm looking to sell some speaker cables I have shortly. However, I am having a bit of a hard time identifying what they are exactly. All I know is that they are kimber kable. I would appreciate if someone could help me identify the exact type and possible value? I have 3, each cable length is roughly 220cm Thank you Photos attached.
  8. Hi..im wanting to learn which of the speaker cables is better for home stero and home theatre sound. From my rreadings both of these cables in the 6mm version are great. But which is the better. The cable will be installed in ceiling space and up and down a wall from rack to speakers. The furthest distance is about 15-18m . Therfore keeping the three cables the same length. Cable is all within one room and the distance is simply to allow it to get from the rack in the entry of the room to the speakers. From what I've read these cables are a better quality than the Belden 5T00UP 10awg. What's everyone's thoughts? My original cable selection was going to be the Qed xtube400 4mm2 cables but everyone has said they are over priced and would sound to brought worth my focal 826v towers and matching 800v Centre speaker. Comments??? What's the difference with the audio grade and the Hi fi grade Linear Crystal OFC?
  9. Hi people. I am hoping that out there lurks someone who knows all the ins and outs of speaker cables? I have 7 year old Chord Carnival, running directly from a Naim Nait 5 to Epos M12.2. No plugs involved at all at this stage. The amp is brand new. It's been on since Thursday (4 days ago) and sounds harsh as hell, especially from CD (Arcam 73t). Now, when I think about it, the sound was pretty bright and painful with the previous amp, the Cyrus. Thought it would have gone away with the Naim sound, but not so. I tried soldering the Naim plugs onto the cable. What a horrible result. Thin and lacking in almost every detail. I have consulted the dealers - Sound Reference, who say that Naim plugs are horrible, not to use them and that Naim speaker cable is very out of date for modern amps, even their own. Sterephonic on the other hand, who were very over keen to sell me their amp said Naim cable would be the way to go, and to use their plugs too. Now I know there are Naim forums, but I prefer this more rounded and more varied approach so let me know if you think there is anything I should try? Keeping the budget sensible would make sense, given that the equipment is not high, high end. Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers, R
  10. Hi all. I have a weird room that doesn't lend itself to the usual "gear between 2 speakers" layout, but rather would be much better with my gear on a sideboard to the sided the room. Bigger is that this would take speaker cable across a door, however luckily I have made some allowances in the walls, so I should be able to run cable in conduit under the floor and bring it out through the wall. What I'm wondering is whether a different cable length for each speaker would matter? I have one side that would reach (a 2.5m pair is currently in use - Osborn Silverlink cables to Osborn Epitomes), but the other would need to be at least 5.5m! I scared about the potential price of a matched 6m pair of cables! Ouch! Also, are there cable types (copper vs silver for example) which lend themselves to longer lengths in terms of sound quality? Cheers, Mat
  11. Hoping someone here can shed some light for me. I am currently running some 10 year old monster cable as my speaker cables and was looking to try and make a set up as described on an English audio forum. I used four core x 14AUG professional speaker cable which is 12mm in diameter with a soft flexible coating. Made them up exactly as described and am totally disappointed. The mids and highs are brilliant but there is absolutely NO bass. What have I done wrong? If this is in the wrong forum please let me know. Cheers John.

  13. Item: Chord Epic Reference Speaker Cables 2 x 3M (one pair) Location: Perth W.A. (South of the River) Price: $1000 + shipping (Retails for A$2200) Item Condition: Excellent (9.5/10) -0.5 only because they're used. Reason for selling: Clearing stuff to fund more hifi purchase Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Current model and retailing everywhere for about $2200 https://www.aussiehifi.com.au/chord-epic-reference-speaker-cable-factory-terminated This pair is the best sounding and most good looking cables I have ever own. Also comes with handsome original Chord Circular Carry Bag. “That’s got more than a hint of Sarum characteristic to it. It seems to disappear, you can use this with almost any system and it doesn’t get in the way of some serious high end equipment. We’re impressed.” Chord Epic Reference speaker cable develops the shielded conductor design used on Epic by applying a separate high frequency effective shield to each conductor. The 12 AWG silver-plated conductors are insulated with PTFE, before a PVC jacket is applied to correctly space the dual layer foil and braid shield. In terms of performance, Epic makes a very good case for the use of shielded speaker cables. Epic Reference moves the performance (and the design) quite a bit closer to Chord’s original award winning shielded speaker cable, Chord Signature. Epic Reference carries dynamic information and detail in a very coherent manner. This makes for extremely realistic sounding music, acoustic and electric instruments sound really lifelike, and the complexity of tone that makes great instruments such a joy to listen to is easy to hear. More though, is the way that Epic Reference helps a system to sound coherent and musical, and that’s a compelling reason that makes Epic Reference a cable worth listening to in any decent system. Listen to the Epic with: Neil Young “Driftin’ Back” from the album “Psychedelic Pill”. Hear: There’s a lot more than just noise here, Crazy Horse can still manage a groove that’s both tight and loose better than most. Listen for: About three minutes in there is a guitar solo that shows just how complex and beautiful an overdriven guitar tone can be. Listen for the subtle and sublime touch of a Bigsby tremolo arm, from one of the greatest "feel" guitar players there is. IN DEPTH INFO: Conductors: 2 x 12 AWG19 strand silver-plated oxygen free copper, each conductor set is shielded. Conductor insulation: PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene ). We believe that to obtain the most neutral tonal characteristic from silver-plated conductors it is vital to use Polytetrafluoroethylene Internal conductor surround: A PVC spacer jacket is applied to correctly space the conductor in relation to the dual layer shielding. Shielding: Dual layer, high density braid and overlapped foil. External jacket: PVC. Configuration: Twisted pair configuration. All sets of Epic Reference are factory produced and terminated to order. The conductors are twisted together and held in place, a precision engineered clamp designed to hold the conductors in place without any performance affecting cable compression. aluminumConfiguration: Diameter: 2 x 7.3mm Colour: Translucent brown. connectors.Camcon BFATerminations: Chord 24 karat gold-plated banana plugs, direct gold-plated copper spade connectors and Use it withChord Epic Reference produces an extremely accurate performance over a wide bandwidth, making it ideal for use with wide bandwidth floor standing loudspeakers. One of the major benefits of shielded speaker cable is the definition and control they bring to bass, which really helps produce properly coherent rhythm and illustrate just how close the relationship is between the drummer and the bass player. 23. Further Information: I picked these cables up secondhand a few months back without hearing them. I used to own Wireworld Atlantis 5 (which were fantastic for the money) and Wireworld Gold Eclipse 3 (which were fantastic full-stop, but also insanely expensive). I still haven't heard these so I can't tell you what they are like, but given my past experiences with Wireworld I'd guess pretty good. My intention was to incorparate them into a system I was putting together, but then I went a little crazy and bought mono-blocks which I have sitting right next to the speakers so I don't need the 3m length of these cables. Also, my new amps only accept spades (and the cables are terminated with silver bananas), so I can't even test them. Looking online the RRP in NZ was $799 and $729 in AU. I'm asking half that, which I think is reasonable. I'm also open to offers - cash or gear. I'm after some nice short speaker cables (maybe 1.2-1.5m terminated with spades) of equivalent value, or a nice USB to SPDIF converter - something like a Matrix X-SPDIF2/3 or a Gustard U18. Let me know what you have. (donation to stereonet in case of trade.) Thanks for looking.
