  1. Hi Guys … I have just purchased a Samsung Soundbar (HW-H551 for $229 from the Good Guys) and need some advice on how best to connect Foxtel, SD TV, Apple TV, use the Blu-Ray player I have and replace the home theatre speakers with the Samsung Soundbar. My set up is (including links to manuals for others that have been looking for them): - Panasonic 42" TV TH-P42G10A. Link to manual Refer p44-45 for connections diagram - Foxtel IQ2. Link to manual Page 80 for diagram - Apple TV2. Link to manual - Samsung Blu-Ray DVD player (part of the Home Theatre set: HT-BD1252W). Link to manual: Page 15 for diagram - Samsung Soundbar HW-H551. Link to manual. Page 14 for diagram. - Logitec Harmony One remote control. Link to manual I'm hoping to have all sound go through the Soundbar … grateful for any tips! Thanks in advance! Cheers, deers and happy-new-years from hurmeez and two bob
  2. Hi, I've been searching for a couple of days but and have found quite a bit of information, but nothing that quite answers my question: We are about to start building a new house, and I need help deciding whether or not to install built-in speakers. It's a rather open-plan design and has a bulkhead all around the room with the TV. The red line indicates the wall where the TV will be mounted. The wall behind the TV is no longer a cavity slider, we've changed it to a normal wall with a hinged door. We aren't super into TV or movies, buy would like a reasonably nice system so that when we do have the time to watch something it's a good experience. We cannot have a separate sub or anything that sits on the floor We can't have inbuilt wall-mounted speakers, but we can mount them into the bulkhead The TV and soundbar will be wall-mounted From what I've read, these are the options available: 5.1 active soundbar with built-in sub Pros:Everything is balanced and managed by the system Cons: I'm not sure how effective it will be with the wide open space towards the kitchen and the glass stacker door to the other side Surround effect is not as good as with individual speakers. All built-in speakers around the bulkhead (all the same kind of normal built-in speakers). Not pointing down, but on the sides of the bulkhead facing towards the centre of the room Pros: Even more discreet than a soundbar Separate speaker for each channel - true surround Cons: Separate amp required (amp will live in another room and be cabled accordingly) Once the speakers are in, it's not easy to get rid of them. If the positioning is not perfect, then it's always going to be off. If we want to move the furniture a bit, will that cause problems? Is it ok if all the speakers are so high (I've read that L, R & Centre channel should be about head height)? 3.1 active channel Soundbar with built in sub + 2 rear speakers in the bulkhead driven by the soundbar Pros: Correct height for Left, Right and Centre channels Good combination of properly balanced Left, Right and Centre channels, and rear for surround Maybe doesn't suffer so much for lack of solid side walls? Cons: Is it easy to find a soundbar with a built-in sub that that will drive external rear speakers? (I had trouble finding one online) 3.0 active channel Soundbar + 2 rear speakers in bulkhead + sub in bulkhead (all driven by the soundbar) Pros: Same Pros as previous Maybe better bass quality? Maybe easier to find an LCR soundbar that can drive 2 rears and a sub? Cons: Same cons as above Is a sub effective above you? What would you recommend to be the best option? Would you have recommendations on specific soundbars that would what I need? Thanks so much!
  3. Hiya, I've been getting back into doing 'projects around the house' and am thinking the next one will be a soundbar for my pc monitor to sit on (given the desk isn't really big enough for a pair of speakers) used mostly for gaming and occasionally music. I'm thinking the easiest approach for this would be a couple of 3.5-4" full range drivers angled up, driven by one of the Dayton KAB boards (like this one, but maybe a more powerful one if needed). My current thinking is between... Dayton PS95-8 : might need more space between driver and listener? Thoughts? Dayron ND90 : warmer sound with a bit more bass. Given I'm not listening at super loud volumes, this might be a better option Any other viable options out there? Any advice at all is appreciated! Cheers, Mike
  4. Hey, So i have went out and bought a samsung radiant 360 speaker to add as a combination to my samsung soundbar which is currently connecting via the optical in cable to my older Samsung television. What i was wondering is if i could find a way to run both the soundbar and speaker in surround/combination as currently i can get the soundbar to work but as the tv has neither wifi or bluetooth i am struggling to connect it to the tv. I have looked at items such as https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/laser-wifi-adaptor-for-audio-speaker-system-sylwfadptr#!features , http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bluetooth-Transmitter-Sender-Aux-3-5mm-jack-Coaxial-Optical-Toslink-Audio-input-/111658526665?hash=item19ff5de7c9:g:FgIAAOSwA3dYgYb5#shpCntId and https://www.amazon.com/Nolan-Bluetooth-Wireless-Transmitter-Receiver/dp/B00IYUI0W8 Would any of these work and which would be best if so? Thank you.
  5. Hi My elderly parents who are in their mid 70's are in need of some decent sound from their TV. They don't want a full surround system and don't like clutter or cables visible. They are willing to spent around $1000.00 so I thought that the Yamaha YSP-2500 sound bar with wireless sub might be a good option? http://www.whathifi.com/yamaha/ysp-2500/review I am more into hifi gear and don't know that much about AV so am interested in others opinions? Is a sound bar a good way to go or are they better off with just some powered speakers or a basic 2 channel system? At the moment they turn there panasonicTV up really loud and I think its because they can't hear the dialog so I thought the sound bar option would help to bring dialog more to the front and give good separation of sounds and music so they can turn things down a bit! Obviously a full surround system will work better but they just don't want all the gear around the room. I am not sure of the TV model but its about 900mm wide and about 3 yrs old. Would appreciate others views. Cheers Doug
  6. Being new I’m not sure if I’m supposed to start a new topic or tag onto an old one, so here I am. We have a wonderful, if not old, stereo set-up with Rotel AMP and pre-amp, Yamaha multi CD player, an old turntable and Dali bookshelf speakers. I love using it, but the rest of the family just grabs the portable Bluetooth speaker and connects to their phones! In an attempt to use the digital technology and get a better sound than a portable Bluetooth speaker, I purchased an audio pro Addon C10. Much better sound – may need to get a second one! Anyway, the point of all this, apart from lamenting my old system, was to see if anyone knows of a sound bar for the TV that is compatible with audio pro gear. I cannot seem to find one. Audiopro have a gadget called a’Link 1’ but a person at one particular store was not sure it would connect to a soundbar or a TV. Any ideas welcome! Maybe it’s as simple as using the Link 1?

  14. Item: Bluesound PULSE Soundbar Location: Sunbury VIC Price: $1200 ($1799 RRP) - can courier Australia wide at cost. Item Condition: As new, with original packaging. Reason for selling: Was used purely for review (to be published next week), with the intention keeping it for personal use. Wife wants to go AVR and standmount speakers in lounge room now. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, EFT or Visa / Mastercard for known/long term StereoNET members. Extra Info: This soundbar was only released by Bluesound in October. Of all the soundbars I've heard, it's the most "hifi" in sound I have come across. In fact, I walked into a room prior to it's launch and was most impressed by what I believed to be the floorstanding B&W speakers that were flanking the TV. Imagine my surprise when I was informed it was the soundbar playing. I ordered one on the spot. For those that have already bought into the Bluesound multi-room platform, this acts as another discrete zone in your home. With Hi-Res playback ability and Roon integration coming before end of year, it's simply the best multi-room system around. There's also a matching wireless sub that will be released soon. I heard the Soundbar without the sub and I was already impressed. With the sub, I can only imagine this is all most people need in a living room. More information here: http://www.stereo.net.au/news/bluesound-announces-streaming-high-res-audio-soundbar And of course here: http://www.bluesound.com.au/bs_au/soundbar/pulse-soundbar/pulse-soundbar-black/c-36/c-1007/p-1559 Pictures: It's not currently in my possession as it is still with the reviewer, so can be picked up from Maribyrnong, Preston, or Sunbury. It's as new condition with all accessories etc. Stock images for reference.

  22. Item full name and model etc. – Sony HTCT260H Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer Location – Canberra, ACT Item condition description – Excellent - as new. Comes with original box. Price and price conditions – $300 (includes donation) Price reduction: $240 + postage. Insurance extra if required. Reason for selling – Bought as an interim cinema and makeshift bluetooth stereo device while awaiting delivery of my amp and speakers. The native sound from my Sony Bravia KDL-55W900A leaves a lot to be desired and coupled with renovations it was almost impossible to discern speech from the panel's rear-facing speakers. Extra Info – Quite impressed with the full sound this soundbar produced. After doing some research I realised this was the best bang-for-buck I could buy. The ability to connect via bluetooth device was very handy as well allowing myself and visitors to connect via phone and share newly discovered music. Streams well from the laptop (spotify etc). http://store.sony.com/soundbar-wireless-subwoofer-zid27-HTCT260H/cat-27-catid-EOL-Home-Theater-Speakers-Components;pgid=wQlQiXOlr2RSRpMWGtjpr_Rz0000TIm1QDKF Payment Methods: EFT, Cash – Pickup.
