  1. Allo allo allo... wot 'ave we got 'ere then ?? Quite possibly one of the very rarest and certainly the most comprehensively featured amongst the legion of premium Technics direct drive turntables, this 240V Australian delivered FULLY automatic SL-1600 MK.II is a highly sought after collectible model. Fundamentally identical to the venerable and virtually bullet-proof SL-1200 series, it builds upon that core platform with additional convenience features which were intended to place it at the top of the category, with no concessions to absolute fidelity or reliability whatsoever. The platter alone is a substantial 2kg mass damped affair. The total combined weight arriving at 10kg's. Furthermore it incorporates a double isolated suspension system to provide acoustic isolation, with an elegant fully cast-aluminium outer chassis and an independently supported inner base made of non-resonant "TNRC". The arm queueing automation is aided by means of infra-red led's, which determine the size of record placed on the platter (7", 10" or 12") and auto-cues the tone-arm to the appropriate diameter, as well as self-returning (and can also auto-repeat a side if desired !). Manual queuing is possible at any time. The tonearm has adjustable on-the-fly VTA , the motor is a very high torque and near instantaneous start-up & stop with pitch being adjustable within a range of +-6%, totally under quartz control and aided by LED indicators. All front panel controls are effected with soft-touch switches. Rotational accuracy and signal to noise ratio are amongst the best obtainable, wow and flutter are a minuscule 0.025% WRMS, rumble an inaudible -78dB DIN B. Unlike virtually every other automated turntable which employs a complex arrangement of prone-to-vibration mechanical arm linkages, plastic cams, gears and other susceptible to failure and often difficult to source/repair components, the SL-1600 Mk.II principally relies upon a single, easily sourced and low cost rubber belt in order to physically engage the microprocessor controlled arm movements, which is then disengaged whilst playback occurs. This belt has been newly replaced to ensure decades of further use without concern. In addition the deck has been comprehensively serviced by a highly regarded audio specialist tech. whom also individually tested & replaced capacitors on the internal circuit board, thus further ensuring absolute speed accuracy and operational reliability for the foreseeable future. Being a fastidiously cared for single-owner turntable, it remarkably presents almost as new as the day it was purchased and functions accordingly, which is to say that it sounds superb (subject to the employed cartridge of course !) and operates extremely smoothly and silently. Purchaser will receive the Factory Brochure, Technical Bulletin, User & Service Manuals. The cartridge seen in the attached photos is NOT included, the original Technics EPC270C cartridge however IS included !
