  1. Hi folks. Just wondering what Beyer cans you're using and what peripheral gear you have had good/poor results with. Any suggestions on an amp for the T1.2? I'm curious about amps to try with my Beyer T 1.2 so any suggestions welcome. Going by the Audio Science review of these hp I should have sold them years ago and rinsed my ears out but I actually really like them. I find them very detailed and easy to listen to. Plenty of bass and very open with decent imaging as far as hp can image. Quite comfy too. Positioning over the ears can effect the sound considerably with these hp. Other headphones I have at hand are HD650 and Hifiman HE400i the earlier one with removable cable. Amp wise I'm currently using Darkvoice 336se which sounds pretty good but curious about others. Also have an SMSL SP200 which is good with the Senns and HE400i but a little lean sounding with the Beyers. Speaker wise if it matters I have Kef 3.2 reference series floorstanders and Genelec 8330 with sub. Feel free to ad anything else you want on Beyer or other headphones you have compared to. Or if you have compared any HD800 versions to Beyers. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/beyerdynamic-t1-review-v2-headphone.20192/ https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/hifiman-he400i-review-planar-headphone.18544/

  2. Further Information: Selling as I'm downsizing and moving out of Perth. Pickup is desirable, can be auditioned during the day (~9-5).
  3. did some what I found really useful headphone comparisons at the tivoli gtg last night. they had the HD800 and HD 700 hooked upto the hdvd800 dac/amp and the HD650 and HD 600 hooked unto the HDVA600 amp. sources were digital. listening to fleetwood mac rumours which is a nice punchy track with good detail vocals etc. the contrast between these headphones was ready apparent. and in some cases re enforcing my previous experience with these. I've owned the hd800 and HD650 before and own currently the hd580s which in all terms is similar to the hd600 first up some back to back comparisons between the hd800 and the hd700. both are very comfortable to wear, light and neither clamping excessively or tiring to wear. In sound I found the hd800 a very smooth easy listen, though to my surprise the hd700 was more punchy and dynamic /richer sounding. next up listening to the hd650 and hd600, this time with the hdva600 amp and wasn't surprised with what I found here, the hd650 the punchier sounding harder hitting vs the smoother sounding hd600. For me while have heard some headphones in isolation and owned say either one time, first time have had the chance to hear the hd700 and first time to be able to hear all these headphones back to back in the one system. the surprise for me was the hd700. its got the hd650s sound but without the head clamp the 650 has. and reminder for me again the hd800s are more in line of sound to the hd600. definitely pretty thankful for tivoli and sennheiser for setting up the comparison all in the one spot. definitely was an excellent means to evaluate them. as an aside they also had a couple of stax electrostatic systems there for listening too. while with different music, they were a very nice listen too. more laid back, relaxing kind of listen. a very lush sound, have owned some stax years and years back and can understand too their appeal. these had a retail of $3.5k for one and about $7k for other so some serious headphones but pretty nice too anyone else got a chance to listen to these as well ?
  4. So. I couldn't resist the uber cheap price of the HD700's. I auditioned them out of a Burson Conductor SL, and briefly, a Woo WA6. Yeah, a GREAT headphone!!! It's the mids with rock/metal that got me amongst other things.. it had a lot of grunt in that area that got my toes tapping, along with female vocals. (I'm a bit of a fan of Bjork/Portishead etc. More impressions to follow when my JDS Labs C5D arrives, so I can drive them better then my iPod Classic.
  5. Here's a pic showing the difference for anyone interested, I'm not sure whether the actual copper is larger diameter or not (anyone keen to lop the ends off and look?)
  6. With the rise rise, and rise of computer audio I decided it was time to return to headphone listening. I'd given up 3 odd years ago, having exhausted all of my CDs and my old and humble Sennheiser HD590s slowly wearing out. Well I've rejoined this club and boy it's good to be back. The HD590s went walkabout which I was initially dismayed about. No biggie - cue eBay. I'm now the proud owner of some HD560 Ovation IIs from 1993/94. Mint condition, the previous owner had the pads replaced. And they comprehensively tear strips off my previous pair. Dare I say it these (with appropriate amplification) could easily keep pace with anything costing up to 500 bucks today. They are gorgeously neutral, just letting the music waft through. The soundstage is typical Sennheiser, deep and wide. I don't know how else to describe the sound without being overly analytical with my language, because the 560s are anything but. Warm but not lush or sticky, incredibly detailed without taking a surgeons scalpel to the recording, low bass extension without boom or thump? If I had to summarise, take your favourite recording that you know inside out back to front. Give it the longest most thorough intricate buff and polish you thought possible. Then sit back and enjoy You just can't put a stereotype on the sonic signature, because there just isn't one. In a word: linear If there's a caveat, they need a lot of juice.... I didn't think 300ohms would prove tricky to drive, although my old pair were less than half that at 120. They're powered by an Audioquest Dragonfly V1.2, fed into a Perreaux SXH-1 Sillhouette class A. Considering at some point upping the DAC to a red as the voltage is much higher. Oh, and the source (before I hook them back up to my main Rotel setup) is Tidal HiFi Masters. At the moment however - I is pig in detritus
  7. Deals for the extra 10% end today and not sure about the iem reduced price but the ie800s seems like a decent deal. Not sure if they top tier or compare well against something like the Sony ier series but someone might be looking for some at a decent price.
  8. Further information: Here is the information on all Items included (the Sennheiser 569 is a bonus :) Drop + THX Panda Excellent condition – Using the final firmware release and the battery is excellent. Some small scuffs on one of the pads (see pics) but no need to change it. Comes in original carrying case with original power cable. Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250 ohm Brilliant condition (cabled modded) – Used for short editing periods mostly. The pads are still mostly fresh. It is modded for a female TRS connector so you can attach any cable you like Sennheiser 560s brilliant condition – not used very often, mainly for testing and editing. Still on stock pads and they are still firm with no defects. Comes with cable. Sennheiser 569 (Bonus) Great condition. Average signs of wear but overall, light scuffs, no defects and no damage. New leather pads and comes with cable. Sennheiser 280 Pro V2 Body in Great condition. Was used mainly for editing and mixing. Clamp force is still pretty high, so there’s a lot of life left in it. Everything else is in great condition, However, one of the pads has a tear in it but it does not affect performance at all. It can be used as is, or with a little tape or glue if you desire and of course the pads are replaceable. Drop + Hifiman HE-4XX Great condition. A few scuffs around the body. The leather headband is completely fine. It uses non-stock pads that are soft and comfortable. Comes with cable. Blue Sadie Great condition. The switch works perfectly fine and the battery is excellent. There are some scuff marks on the pads but overall the pads are in great condition. Very firm. The mechanisms in the headband work like new and the only real issue is that the padding on the headband is a bit more scuffed. Chord Mojo 1st edition Excellent condition. This is the original Chord Mojo. The battery holds charge very well since it was mostly used without the battery plugged in as a desktop dac. All the ports and buttons are working as well and the body is in excellent condition. Comes with USB cable and original box. Suca Audio Tube – T1 Excellent condition. Almost like new. It will come with the power cable but no tubes. 12. Hi all, Due to a general lack of time to enjoy my audio collection, I have decided to move on my ultimate headphone setup. This comprises Sennheiser's incomparable HD 800 headphones, a Lehmann Audio Black Cube Linear headphone amplifier, and a PS Audio NuWave DAC. These three components combine perfectly to produce a headphone listening experience that I am yet to find a better alternative. Located in Melbourne, Victoria. I am happy to discuss interstate shipping at the buyers cost. Price for all three as listed is $2,400. For anyone wishing to purchase all three together, I will consider reasonable offers around that price point. ** Special ** - buy all three at my asking price of $2,400 and I will include 2 x pairs of Chord Chrimson RCA interconnects valued at over $300 for no cost. I strongly recommend purchasing all three components together, as I invested a significant amount of time, money, and efforts in finding the ultimate system at a reasonable price point. Any new owner would not be disappointed These are three main components, including individual price, manufacturer's links and review links where appropriate: 1. Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) - PS Audio NuWave DAC If you don't feed the headphone amplifier and headphones with a pure analog signal, you will never achieve the best possible performance. The NuWave DAC connects to your PC or Mac via USB, and produces the best sound you can imagine. Optical inputs are also available and the sound is equally impressive. New cost: $1,200 Yours for: $750 Manufacturer's description: The NuWave DAC is an affordable high-end digital to analog processor. Based on our acclaimed PerfectWave series, the NWD accepts inputs from any digital source including USB (up to 192kHz 24 bit asynchronous) from your computer and connects to your system’s preamplifier with either single ended (RCA) or balanced (XLR) connections. The NuWave DSD will transform your expectations of what’s possible in an under $2,000 DAC. The added detail and space produced by the NuWave DSD on good old Red Book CDs alone is worth the price of admission. What makes the NuWave DSD so great? We’ve taken the lessons learned from one of the world’s best DACs, the DirectStream, and applied them to a smaller-scale, lower-cost unit. Like the DirectStream before it, the NuWave DSD produces a seamless 3D soundstage from even normal CDs. Hand-tuned and personally voiced by Paul McGowan, the improvement in sound quality over other DACs is astonishing. The NuWave DSD accepts inputs from any digital source including I2S and USB from your computer and connects to your system’s preamplifier with either single ended (RCA) or balanced (XLR) connections. Used with music server software like JRiver, Bit Perfect, Amarra or Pure Music and an iPhone or Android app, the NuWave DSD becomes your entry into the world of high-end digital audio music, both PCM and DSD. Performance is superb at anywhere near the price and there’s good reasons why, as you’ll soon discover. In fact, the NuWave DSD is one of the best sounding products we have produced in our 23 years of building DACs. Sweet, spacious and effortless, this device will bring the life back into your music and all at the touch of a finger. http://www.psaudio.com/products/nuwave-dac/ Final notes: I have boxes for all the components.
