The September 2016 meeting of the Sydney Audio Club sees us meet once again for an afternoon of fine music, great sound and amicable company. Each month the Sydney Audio Club presents an excellent high end audio system for our members and guests. Feel free to bring along your own music to test the capabilities of the system or to just share with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. For September, we are very pleased to have Dr Rod Crawford of Legend present (refer to http://www.legendspeakers.com.au/). Legend has been designing and crafting excellent speakers in Australia since 1995. Rod will present the large Big Red Active (BRA) speaker and the smaller Kanga 8s and Kurre 8s. The Kanga 8s are smaller speakers from Legend’s Monitor range and offer great value for the money. They were initially designed for home theatre. Refer to http://www.legendspeakers.com.au/kanga.html. Hypex NC122MP amplifier. In Rod’s words… “Class D OEM modules that are only just coming off the production line. They are built into the BRAs to drive their mid & treble that also have a BASH 300W class H amp for the bass/sub. I have these same modules built as separate amps to drive the Kangas and Kurres.” Refer to http://www.hypex.nl/ DEQX HDP-4 preamp processor. The HDP-4 will be used as a full processor for the active BRAs and also in bypass mode just as a DAC for the passive Kangas and Kurres. Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music on CD/SACD/DVD-Audio. (Sorry, no vinyl again this month.) All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others. Feel free to come and hear the capabilities of the system, or to just share the experience with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound. They have a very transparent sound signature and are very dynamic. I bought these Legend speakers from a Stereonet member a few years ago. I was still new to all of this and didn't appreciate the difference between the watts written on the stereo box and current. Needless to say, these little speakers need a fair whack of current. My Yamaha RN-602 had no chance. I recently purchased some more efficient Klipsch speakers which are singing. Interestingly, I took the Legends to Lifestyle Audio in North Parramatta to do a listening test with the Klipsch speakers. Obviously, a proper amp was used. For the first time I understand why these Legend speakers were so special. It wasn't until "rockier" music was played that the 20 year newer Klipsch taught the Legends a lesson. To be honest, I was already sold on the "bronze" speaker cones of the Klipsch. I wanted them. and hence the Legends are for sale. I believe (but do not 100% know) they are Kurre's of approx 1998 vintage as it's very tricky to research. I think its excellent buying if you have a decent amp. No point testing at my place as my amp can not drive them properly (unless you bring your amp). If you buy them and they are not what you want, just bring them back within 3 days (in same condition) and I'll refund your money. It's stupid to keep them in storage thinking I will use them one day. I need to start letting go of items. Maybe I'll move onto some of my records soon (way to many double-ups. I can't help myself). They are in good 2nd hand condition with normal minor scratches but nothing serious (BTW the George Benson vinyl is not included. Just there to reference size). Pick up is North Rocks (between Carlingford and North Parramatta). I am often in Manly (NSW) if this helps. BTW - before any smarties suggest the speakers are upside down - they are designed to have the tweeter at the bottom! Kind regards, Kierin

PLUS more Purchased 2013 from distributor - Activehifisystems - have receipt. 10 year warrantee on speakers. This is a very reluctant sale however I've come to realize this system has far more potential and depth than I do it justice. The DEQX unit alone offers so much opportunity to tweek and modify to the experienced enthusiast or beginner who's willing to spend the time. The possibilities are endless. The system is working perfectly and will stand up to any test. Speakers are in very good condition - there are some very minor marks which are unnoticeable in normal conditions. The amp and DEQX are in perfect condition. Microphone has been used once and reboxed. Interconnects are custom made Silverwire. Speaker cables supplied by Legend. Excuse the photos however piano black is very hard to photograph. I have all original boxes and manuals and remotes. I hope someone at SNA appreciates and finds a home for this system before it's offered to the outside world. Any questions answered and more photos on request. The Tikandi system was purchased at the start of this year from a Stereonet member 10 year warrantee on speakers from 2013 - which Legend will honour (I have checked with them..). Although a reluctant sale, I'm a realist. After years in a loud industry, I don't have the ears that I used to and this system is wasted on me. The DEQX unit allows adjustment to room acoustics, and is currently setup with a recently acquired file from DEQX - their support (even to a second hand owner such as me) has been first rate. The system is working perfectly and will stand up to any test. Speakers are in very good condition - there are some very minor marks which are unnoticeable in normal conditions. The amp and DEQX are in perfect condition. Microphone has been used once and reboxed. Interconnects are custom made Silverwire. Speaker cables supplied by Legend.
