  1. Subwoofer is very powerful but compact, best of both worlds
  2. Further Information: Hi all, Selling my LS50W's as I have gone down the path of separates. Absolutely no issue with them at all. More than happy for you to audition at my place. Located Petersham (NSW).
  3. Hey guys, I had a great setup of the Arcam FMJ A19 with the KEF LS50's. Looking to upgrade to the LS50 Meta's. Does anyone know if an amp like the FMJ A19 will still hold up well with the Meta's? My existing KEF setup has a dud speaker, got the speaker cone replaced (KEF authorised repairer), but didn't test it out for a while and the repair didn't work ( 3 month warranty by the repairer) Any help or suggestions would be greatly welcomed! Additionally any other speakers that also pair really well with the FMJ A19 would be welcomed too. Thanks all!
  4. I am selling: 2 x KEF Q300 bookshelf speakers in black. 2 x KEF Q100 bookshelf speakers in black. 1 x KEF Q200c centre speaker in black. 4 x speaker stands with custom made black gloss perspex mounting shelves (to fit bookshelf speakers). I am selling this as a set but would consider selling separately. I used this as my hi-fi and home theatre set up running off a Marantz receiver. I truly loved using this setup, but my current home does not accommodate or suit this kind of speaker set up. I’d always hoped to use them again, but that seems highly unlikely, so it’s time to send them off to a new home. The pictures show how I had it all set up immediately before I wrapped them up and stored them. The most striking visual feature is the Uni-Q driver that is unique to KEF. You definitely want to use them without the grilles to showcase that stunning piece of industrial design. I expect that if you are looking for something like this, you know that KEF offer bang for buck and this series racked up a number of awards for best bookshelf speakers from many respected magazines. Right now, if you were to buy the equivalent and current KEF speakers brand new the RRP via KEF is $3,500 made up as follows: $1,400 for a pair of Q350 bookshelf speakers - https://au.kef.com/products/q350-bookshelf-speaker $1,000 for a pair of Q150 bookshelf speakers - https://au.kef.com/products/q150-bookshelf-speaker $1,100 for a Q250c centre speaker - https://au.kef.com/products/q250c-centre-channel-speaker I do not have them connected, but if you wanted to bring your own small amplifier to test them, I am happy to allow that.
  5. Further Information: Used and in good working condition with minor scratches only on back side. Wall plates and Desk stands are included
  6. Further Information: Brand new in box. Received as gift
  7. Hi all, My local hifi store is offering me a pretty good package deal, but I'm having trouble making a decision between receivers. Wondering what everyone's thoughts were? For reference, the 5.1 speaker setup I'm looking at is: Towers: Kef Q950 Centre: Kef Q250C Surrounds: Kef Q150 Sub: Kef KUBE 10 Biggest disadvantage I'm seeing is that the 505 cannot adjust crossover frequencies for individual speakers, but I'm honestly wondering if that is such a big deal (as I've never had a proper 5.1 setup before so will be learning when it comes to calibrating the speakers). There seems to be some strong opinions against Pioneer AVR in general, whilst the Denon is a crowd favourite. But what has me stumped is how much the store person raved about the Pioneer and strongly suggested it, especially with the extra power. Plus Dirac Live seems to be a solid plus for the Pioneer. So yeah, anyone out there with a similar speaker setup as me? What AVR did you go with? Cheers!
  8. After much research I ended up auditioning some KEF LS50W speakers. They sounded good but weren't set up properly - no speaker stands and only bluetooth audio connection available. Right next to the KEFs were some Dynaudio XD 200. These were set up properly on stands and sounded better than the KEFs, but at a substantially higher price. After some more research looking at Dynaudio LYD 48. They are professional monitors but can be compared directly to the KEFs price-wise. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to audition the LYDs, but it looks like the formula they use isn't a million miles off from the XDs. Is there any reason I shouldn't explore using pro monitors for home use? Is there a reason the XD is twice the price of the LYD? Also I don't see any mention of the XD series on the forum, is a reason for that? Hopefully someone can shed some light for me at this confusing time!
  9. Have you always been able to get the KEF LS 50 for under $2k new? Seems a few on special at the moment. Is there an updated version on the way? Or ? At $2500 I wasn’t interested but at $1500 I am quite tempted. https://melbournehifi.com.au/products/kef-ls50 https://www.lifestylestore.com.au/kef-ls50-mini-monitor-speakers.html https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/products/kef-ls50-bookshelf-speakers https://www.digitalcinema.com.au/kef-ls50-premium-concentric-bookshelf-speakers-pair.html
  10. Item: KEF LS50w ii Price Range: too good to be true Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: Hi all, wondering if there is anyone on the forum close to Corindi Beach NSW that might be able to check out a pair of KEF LS50w ii's for me. Found them on Facebook at a price that seems a little too good to be true. I'm in WA so obviously can't pop over to check them out. If you are up for it, I'd be happy to buy you a bottle/crate and pay for fuel. Please pm me and we can swap numbers. Thanks in advance for even considering this request! Brendon. Please don't forget to report your post as FOUND when possible. (You can now delete this text).

I have: KEF XQ Five mains in graphite.
  17. Hello everyone, So i have stumbled accross some KEF speakers and I was wondering if anyone recognizes them. I believe I have seen them before but the model eludes me. Box size 940h x 440d x 470w Photos are attached below. At first I believed they were concerto but I have seen so many variations I have no idea. They have the original KEF QA tags and model numbers on drivers. Drivers SP1003, SP1032 (T27), and SP1044. Data sheets on these are at http://www.kef.com/html/en/explore/about_kef/kef_drive_units/index.html Any and all help will be greatly appreciated! thank you very much. I appologise about the horrible photos, some are distorted in size, these are all the person selling them has given me. Wondering what would be a decent price to pay for these. $300? $400? I owned a pair of KEF 2way bookshelf speakers a number of years ago and I recall they were immaculate condition and I sold them for $300 but they sounded absolutely amazing even on my Cambridge Audio A1 Integrated amplifier. Could these have been custom speaker enclosures with a kit that included all the kef drivers and crossover? http://www.hifiloudspeakers.info/Anatomy/KEFDocuments/KEFGermanGallery/pages/p32.htm This is also has all the exact drivers http://www.hifiloudspeakers.info/Anatomy/KEFDocuments/KEFGermanGallery/pages/p14.htm
  18. This is kinda a big deal! http://www.stereo.net.au/news/kef-ls50-wireless-sneak-preview
  19. I have been doing some downsizing/simplifying with audio gear recently and ended up with a nice sounding little system. The Kef's are such a great speaker for a little over 1k. Great detail and nice bass for a very small speaker. I was listening to some pretty intense electronic music on these and the timing was excellent with great layering separation. The Kef's have a nice relaxed sound as well. I'm actually not utilising the streaming feature in the speakers as I have the Auralic Mini, which sounds great and has the Lightning DS app. Next step is to possibly add a USB isolator between the Auralic and the speakers to hear how that sounds.
  20. Hey All Query to those who will know or have done what i am wondering might work? Current Set Up is 5.2 Marantz SR 6011 9ch Kef Q series 950/650/350 and x2 SVS SB2000 Subs Due to the design of the room, I have wall mounted the "side" surrounds but they actually sit behind me, not ideal I know, but i have calibrated them as such that they are effective - i've increased the db a little above the Audyssey setting using my own sound level and there is still plenty of effect and headroom - I am happy with this as it is now after much tweeking! This week i am going to grab a set of Q50's and implement them as an upfiring atmos speakers to sit ontop of the 950's as part of the front configuration but it got me thinking, can these be used as a side surround also? They have dual key hole wall mounts on the back of them for use as front heights and due to the angle of the speaker would potentiall be firing in an angle exactly as i need them down toward the couch - if used as a side surround. Then the Q350s would be the rear speakers only and probably overkill for the rears? Maybe i can replace those with Q50s too and use the 350s as bookshelfs somewhere else LOL So, that said, I would love to expand the system to a 7.2.2 by adding another set of surrounds to the actual side walls but due to a window on one side and and a door on the other this is not an option for the size of the Q350's and the bracketing needed, stands are also no option as it will close off acess to the couch etc on each side... however the Q50a speker would fit. Yes, I would also love to add atmos to the rear too but due to my speakers being close to the ceiling there is no way i can do that, i just dont think the effect will be there and all i'll achieve is a speaker facing the ceiling and doing nothing close to its reflective intent. Ceiling fitted speakers is not an option.... I guess I am not sure if the speakers designed for atmos are ideal for a genuine surround or multi channel speaker thats all but im sure someone here will have tried or knows the answer - i am confident they wont be as impactful as the Q350's thats for sure. Some pics and spec of the Q50 below and also some pics of my room so you can see what i mean by the rear and the side room.... thanks all ModelQ50a DesignTwo-way Closed Box Drive Units130mm (5.25in.) aluminium Uni-Q 25mm (1in.) vented aluminium dome HF Frequency range free field(-6dB) 96Hz-19.5kHz Frequency Response(±3dB) 105Hz-18.5kHz Crossover Frequencies2.5kHz Maximum Output106dB Amplifier requirements10-100W Sensitivity(2.83V/1m) 86dB Nominal Impedance8 Ohms (min.4.6 Ohms) room looking to the rear (which are actually set up as the side surrounds! a view of the space to ceiling which is why i am not thinking atmos upfiring will work at the rear now a view from the middle seat in the couch to each immediate side where i am wondering if a Q50 will suffice as a side surround (and now got me potentially thinking as a rear too to replace the Q350's) To Right hand side To the Left hand side
