Further Information: This is a pair of lovely Harbeth Super HL5 speakers, with the matching Skylan stands. They were manufactured in the UK in 2011, and are the 30th Anniversary version in premium rosewood finish. They are in absolutely first-rate condition, having been used in a non-smoking, pet/child-free house - the stands have a few tiny scratches at the base. The drivers and veneer are all pristine. They have been boxed up in storage for the past 5 years. I am the second owner - they were imported directly into Australia by a gentleman in Sydney (there being no rep in Australia at the time). He decided very quickly they were not to his taste, and I bought them (via Stereonet) in as-new condition. These are large BBC-style stand-mounted speakers, using an 8 inch poypropylene cone in a ported box, in the classic "2 foot x 1 foot x 1 foot" format. I love them for their fidelity to timbre, particularly in vocals and acoustic instruments, and their ability to convey the music beautifully at moderate volumes. Plenty of info, reviews, etc on the internet. The Skylan stands were the recommended stands for them back then, manufactured in Canada. I have the original boxes and paperwork for the speakers, but no packaging for the stands. Please note: These are not the later versions of the SHL5, which have the suffix "+" or "XD" - which go for considerably more money.

Further Information: The Harbeth SHL5 were bought new from an authorized distributor in mid 2014. Both the speaker cabinets and all the drivers are in excellent condition. I bought a Wilsenton R8 tube amplifier recently and decided to pair it with high sensitivity speakers instead of the Harbeths.

I was having an issue with one of the voice coils intermittently rubbing due to the cone sagging. They are ready for many years of trouble free enjoyment. I have the paperwork and original factory cartons for the replacements, plus the original woofers. The sound is glorious even without the new woofers being fully broken in. I'm already regretting selling them, but it's better for someone to enjoy them rather than sitting in storage while we're on the road. The condition is excellent. There are a few marks on the bottoms of the cabinets but there are no scratches, nicks or bumps elsewhere. No fading of the finish. A big part of the reason is the tailored, fabric covers which are always in place when not in use. The Skylan stands are in excellent condition. Not quite as immaculate as the speakers, but nothing generally noticeable. They include carpet spikes. I am the 2nd owner. I have the original shipping cartons and packing for the loudspeakers but not for the stands. I am not in a position to arrange shipping. I could potentially arrange to meet someone a reasonable distance, but in that case audition is not possible. I have for sale my beloved pair of Harbeth M30.1 in Tiger Ebony finish. These are 35th Anniversary Edition, with Ultra-Pure OFC wiring. They're in excellent condition and come from smoke, pet and kid-free home. I'm the first owner and bought the speakers six years ago directly from Harbeth. I looked after them, dusted off regularly, and as per Harbeth's recommendations never used oils or chemicals when cleaning them. The veneer looks great, like new. I also never removed the grills, they fit very tight. My M30.1's had very easy live as I listen to music a few hours a week and always at low volume. So they were never driven hard. It's a very reluctant sale, but as I'm planing to move overseas I would prefer to find them a new good home here, instead of shipping them to the other part of the world. I'll also include my DIY stands. This can be the best Ikea hack ever, they fit speakers perfectly. But I could've done a better job with painting them. They are quite low though, and put the tweeters at around 78cm from the floor, which works for me. I have the original boxes, but would prefer a local sale and pickup at this stage. I'm in Lindfield (2070) and you're off course welcomed to audition and inspect the speakers before buying.

The stands are Skylan, seem to be of solid PDF with partial filling in the vertical corners, and look to be specifically designed for these speakers - they fit perfectly in any case, and bring the speaker to the right height. interested in getting some opinions So I am looking to upgrade my front speakers to get a bit more enjoyment from 2 channel music. (I have a range of musical tastes - not big on dixieland jazz or zydeco) I really plan on trying to listen to as much as I can, but I am eyeing a set of VAF i66mk2's - would like to get some views on how they might compare to speakers like the ATC SCM40's or Harbeth HL5's. I am unlikely to be able to audition the i66's, but I have owned a pair of DC-X speakers many years ago, and was pretty fond of them. Happy to get other options - the i66's are probably the limit of how big I want to go

Item: For sale are my much loved Harbeth 30.1 speakers and matching HiFi Rack speaker stands. Both the speakers and stands are in excellent condition and have been meticulously looked after. The speakers are in Eucalyptus veneer and the craftsmanship / finish is amazing - a statement piece. There are many glowing reviews on the musicality of the 30.1's. I am the original owner and purchased the speakers approximately 12 months ago from Audiotech in Canberra - these were ex demonstration speakers and had been very lightly used before I purchased. Not only was it a first time for the StereoNet group to organise a very successful show, it was a first for Melody Valve Ltd to exhibit all of their new amplifiers. This month we are very lucky to have Melody present at the club. Established in Melbourne by the founder and chief designer Mr Allen Wang, the company has grown by investing in their own factory in Shenzhen China. It features a modern assembly line, a transformer production line, a vacuum processing plant and a variety of self-built high-end testing equipment. Their current line of amplifiers consists of eight models. Melody will be demonstrating two systems from their Everest amplifier range. The equipment will consist of a 28watt Class A Integrated amplifier, and a Pre/ Power combination. The first model the "Everest 845", uses a Western Electric 845 tube per channel, as well as a pair of 300B driver tubes. The second system will be a pair of mono blocks - "PM 845 EVO" -- each running a pair of 845 valves in Class A mode with a combined output of 70 watts each. The "WE2688 Signature Pre", is a real highlight with its implementation of a WE 416 tube; planar triode, used for microwave telephone systems, that looks like a round metal relay. The two systems will use the same pair of speakers, the Harbeth 40.2. This reference monitor is a 3-way stand mount model that houses a 12" Bass driver with 6.5" Mid and matching 1" Tweeter. Harpeth's top of the range speaker is modified for the domestic audio market with a different bass driver, but still retains the same mid that is used in their studio monitors. If you haven't experienced Melody's presentations at the past Hi Fi Shows, you will see why they get the award for "Exhibitor who tried the hardest to impress".
