These speakers popped up on Facebook marketplace for $25, they say they're made in Aus but I've googled and can't find anything about them. Does anyone here know anything about them? Is it a legit brand or are they white van speakers?

Hi all, I have a pair of XQ40 speakers both with distorting tweeters. They were originally not working at all, after dismantling I had found wires from the diaphragms had broken at the solder joint. After resoldering they sounded fine for a while but now distort. I replaced the ferrofluid but that hasn't helped. I found new diaphragms on eBay that supposedly were to suit these speakers but the voice coils are too short so they don't enter the magnet enough (if at all) and are very quiet. I contacted the Australian Kef distributor but they don't have any spares. Part No: XQ MK2 SP1570 Does anyone know where I might find some replacements or know of another model that has compatible tweeters instead? I've noticed some of their in wall speakers look like they have an identical tweeter. Does anyone know? Thanks, Byron

Further Information: Dad bought these back in the early 80s and i've had them for 10 years. They were refurbished when i got them but recently the tweeters stopped working. Would love to sell them to someone who can get the most value out of them, drive them with the right amps etc.

They are not the previous model with the "M" as "Emit M30". They are the "Emit 30" as you can see by the smaller grille and curved top baffle. Impedance is 4ohms and are easier to drive than the previous model with a steadier impedance curve as well as having an improved crossover. The current model also features upgraded woofers, magnets and the tweeter is improved/from the Evoke series. Original spikes for the feet and rear port foam bungs included. I do not have the original boxes so they are pick up only.

Great bass, smooth mids and the new tweeter is very nice, transparent but not sharp or bright at higher volumes like some "high end" speakers tend to do. I am now moving my system to a smaller but separate room that I can have to myself away from the kids and not in a shared space. I am now looking at a bookshelf/stand mount option. The speakers presents in good working condition as per the photos. Of note is that there are no speaker grills nor original packaging. The floor standing speakers and centre speaker can be powered to use in-built subwoofer. With all speakers powered up, you can get Dolby Atmos 5.5.2 set up. A90 are modular atmos speakers that can be added on top of BP9060 and BP9040. With addition of extra A90 speakers, one can get 5.5.4 setup. My home theatre receiver (Arcam AVR390) only had 7 channels of amplification, so could not add additional A90 speakers without requiring additional amplifier. I do have the original boxes for all the speakers, so can ship if required, but it's going to be quite bulky. Prefer a local pickup. I can supply a full set of Wireworld Stream 8 speaker cables (1.5m for front/centre/atmos and 5m for surround) with banana connectors (if required).
