  1. Hi Everyone, Well I've finally decided to go ahead and get a wired data network installed in my house. One of the main reasons is so that I can stream to my PS Audio DSD and eventually another DAC/Streaming device. I use JRiver but am considering Roon later on. I'm also going to have Ethernet jacks installed for Televisions, PC's, Printer, apple TV's, Blu Ray, & NAS. All the Ethernet cables will end up in the sever rack (Garage) that will house the patch panel and Netgear JGS524PE network switch. There will be about 14 Ethernet ports all up wired with either Cat6 or CAT 6A ethernet cable. I have spoken to a qualified installer about the job and it shouldn't be a problem at all. So is there anything else I need to add or think about? I have a fair idea about networking but not the finer details. Cheers John

  3. Further information: Wireworld Starlight Cat 8 Ethernet Cable 1 Meter long. This cable is uses 23 AWG Silver- clad OFC. Can be used as a regular ethernet and i2s connection. This cable is more extended sounding at the high and low end compared to the Audioquest Vodka and Diamond ethernet cables. It has a good midrange presence and did not find to be annoying in terms of brightness. Its ability to retrieve high freq details is outstanding. Photos:

  5. In my search for the ultimate multi channel/zone HTPC I came across Dante Network Audio. They make use of the existing Computer Network to send and sync audio up to 512 channels and more. The latency seems very low and it can send and synchronize clock signals between multiple devices. They have a virtual sound card (64 channels) which uses your existing network port https://www.audinate.com/products/software/dante-virtual-soundcard They have a physical sound card (64 - 128 channels) with word clock synchronization https://www.audinate.com/products/manufacturer-products/dante-pcie-card And a bunch of other products https://www.audinate.com/products And a bunch of other Dante enabled products https://www.audinate.com/products/dante-enabled This is all for Pro Audio at the moment, but if I would to have a crystal bow, it probably will show this. For me this all makes perfect sense, and it creates many possibilities for our future digital life style. In some way, this already exist in Sonos like systems and in some way in wireless speakers, but none give you the freedom and flexibility that Dante could provide. Anyone else just as exited as me about this?

  7. Hi all. Please see my other thread; http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php/topic/103650-choosing-a-dacstreamer-for-my-main-2-channel-audio/ but I though perhaps asking this in a separate thread may clean things up a bit. Basically, I'm setting up a wired and wireless home network. I have a Consonance Suzanne DAP on a little dock as my digital player. It's plugged directly into ethernet>router>modem. It's also got a hard drive with lots of music directly plugged into it via USB. My router (ASUS) has 2 USB ports, and I believe I can add have drives here that computers on the network should be able to access. Whilst moving slowly towards a NAS, I'm keen to get the network usable via ipads/iphones. The Suzanne DAP is a bit of a pain to search for music on. Ideally, I want to grab an Ipad, access (wirelessly) my drive (either plugged into the Suzanne or into the router) of music, pick something, and play! I plan to likely use Roon down the track, but will hold off until the various issues I've read about with QNAP and Synergy NAS's have been ironed out, and their prices fall a bit. So what do I do? I believe some sort of UPnP app in needed? There's one XP desktop, 2 apple laptops (one newish, one old), 2 ipads, 2 iphones, 1 ipod touch. Man, I think I've put Job's kids though college..... All the best, Mat
  8. Item: SOtM iSO CAT6 Audio LAN Signal Filter Isolator Cat 6 Location: Melbourne Price: $300 total with FREE POSTAGE Australia wide Item Condition: Excellent. Purchased new on 10th Sep 2016. Reason for selling: I used this between a very noisy router and my NAS, when my NAS was my USB audio source and this LAN isolator worked fantastically. I've since gotten a microRendu as my USB audio source, which has inbuilt LAN isolation at it's ethernet input, so this is no longer required, otherwise I would have double isolation which isn't required. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: - I have the purchase receipt - Includes a short SOtM Cat 6 ethernet cable Pictures:
  9. Item: Blue Jeans Cable Cat 6a ethernet - various lengths - Belden 10GX Cat 6a Location: Melbourne Price: See below for prices, pickup. PM me if you're interested in a postage option or if you had any other questions. Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Used at my larger previous place with multiple HiFi setups. I've since moved to a small apartment and only have the one setup now. So I've been selling alot of unused cables here the past few weeks. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: See here: http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/data-cables/index.htm Belden brochure here: https://cdn2.hubspot.net/hubfs/282305/New Belden.com - Master Resources/Category_6A_10GX_System_-_Brochure.pdf Blue Jeans Cable Cat 6a ethernet cable is made by BJC in the US using the Belden 10GX series cable and has a floating shield design - the cable is shielded but the shield is not connected to either of the end connectors, so the path for groundloops through the shield is broken. Below are the lengths for sale and prices, pickup: 1 x 7ft (2.1m) = $20 each 1 x 10ft (3m) = $25 each SOLD 3 x 16ft (4.8m) = $30 each PM me if you're interested in a postage option or if you had any other questions.
