As the group buy is in full swing (just picked up mine) an owners thread is in order Please put all thoughts, concerns, problems, setup info, comparisons and anything else you can think of relating to this years x100 range projectors. First up, I bought the wireless model but wasn't planning on using it at all. While waiting for a hdmi cable i was playing around with the wireless and was mightly impressed. It does take about 10seconds to lock onto a sorce, but once locked on it was rock stable. I know i will be using this for connecting my laptop. For $100 extra on the 9100 i really think its quite good value. Then its just a matter if you can live with the white or want the black! The white for me fits in nicer with my room, but would likely be happy with either

I need to replace the old projector after moving in a new place with the following set-up. The screen size of 120 inch (2.4m wide and 1.8m high) with an aspect ratio of 4:3. The distance between the screen and the projector (hang at 70cm below the ceiling) is 4m. I am considering the below projectors given my budget. Epson EB-U32, EB-U130, TW5300 or BENQ TH670 or W1090. Which one is best suitable for my setting? I check the throw ratio for them but all the numbers are based on 16:9/10 ratio which is not very helpful or clear. See below Epson EB-U32 (throw ratio: 1.38(wide) - 1.68(tele); native aspect ratio 16:10; Zoom 1-1.2) Epson EB-U130 (throw ratio: 1.38(wide) - 1.68(tele); native aspect ratio 16:10; Zoom 1-1.2) Epson TW5300 (throw ratio: 1.22(wide) - 1.47(tele); native aspect ratio 16:9; Zoom 1-1.2) BENQ TH670 (throw ratio: 1.15 - 1.5; native aspect ratio 16:9; Zoom 1.3x) BENQ W1090 (throw ratio: 1.5 - 1.8; native aspect ratio 16:9; Zoom 1-1.2) Really need helps to make sure that I order the correct product given my current set-up. Your helps are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Does the throw distance effect quality?
Puresilk posted a topic in Televisions, Projectors & Screens
Reason for asking is that I'm down to 2 options of how I want to set up my lounge for a projector setup. I have already a thick, bleach white curtain in my lounge that I wish to use a projector on. It would allow an image size of 105" at the 16:9 perspective. I had planned to get the Epson TW5300 and have it at 4.5m away but, after doing the throw calculations this projector will not allow a view size of 105" that far away. My other option is to bring it forward and make a cabinet for it so I can get it the right distance but I would rather not have to do this. Roof mounting will be too messy, the ceiling is concrete and my wife is dead set against having it displayed on the roof so this isn't an option. My question is, if I spend more on a projector that will allow a throw distance of 4.5m, will the picture quality be much the same as using the tw5300 closer? Only just starting looking for a projector that would allow such a throw it seems it'll cost me at least 3 times the amount. The specs of the projectors that would allow such a throw distance have much better specs as far as contrast/lumens/features etc.... but does this diminish the further away and more zoom I use to get the size I'm after? I was really hoping for the 3-chip idea as the rainbow effect from single chip designs would drive me crazy. I edit/reconstruct images alot and one thing I can't stand in a picture is chromatic aberration which after viewing a benq at a showroom a couple of weeks ago it reminded me when I saw it of this. -
Hi All, Just picked up my new 9100W and really love the image its producing. One problem the image it produces is not square. Not using any keystone just V & H lens shift. I can line up the top, left and right sides of the screen perfectly but the bottom doesn't seam to be straight. I can mask it out with a bit of zoom but should i need to? Below is a sketch of what its doing. Its basically a 50mm difference from left side to right side of the screen. Only had the projector for 2days so would it be worth going back to the supplier to swap over the units? First projector so not 100% about these things as yet Cheers Link to sketch of whats happening http://www.dtvforum....2

Hi All My wife is keen on hiding the screen in our living room. I'm considering a Screen Technics manual pull down screen and am researching projectors. While our living room will be high light during the day (lots of windows), we primarily watch tv/movies at night, and we live out in the bush so when the lights are off it is very dark. The wireless capability of the Epsons appeals to me and my budget could probably stretch to a 9100 or 9200 but is the additional cost over a 6100 or 8200 going to be worth it in a non-dedicated room? What are the chances i'll have a watchable picture on the occasion that the kids want to watch tv during the day? Any advice would be awesome because i'm new to projectors. Thanks

Well luck would have it with much thanks to matt at TCC I ended up with a JVC x35 to check out over the last queens birthday long weekend. As some would know to really appreciate something am a strong believer in checking out for myself and where possible demoing at home to experience in my own system to come to my own conclusions. Thought I'd post here as my impressions and experience with it might be of interest to some and also some comparisons I can make to my own epson 9000w the x35 is pretty much out of box and with 4 hours on the clock. when I picked up from the store the quick spin they gave it for me had good contrast, sharpness and brightness but the colour balance and skin tones to my eyes looked a bit over ripe ! not that bothered me too much as was sure at home could give it a bit of a tweak. Plus also keen to check out what might be like in my own setup with your typical lounge room with white walls and ceilings light carpet and furniture/furnishings vs say the blacked out surrounds of the TCC demo room screen size is a 92" 16:9 so not massive but and am viewing from 2.9m which is bang on thx recommendation for immersion and is well within the distance for visual acuity to resolve 1080p so should do justice in appreciating the detail and immersion with a projector. so without further ado lets get on with it... JVC in da house ofcourse wife noticed it straight away it is a big projector and BLACK unlike the lounge room friendly white epson. But yeah I reassured her it was just a loaner and just for the long weekend I use the peerless mount PRG-EXA wall mount and to mount the jvc you need to remove its feet meaning long screws m5x25mm are required to secure to the mount bracket. this is unlike with the epson where dont have to take off its feet and can use the surface mount screws the peerless comes with. but anyways a quick trip to buntings soon had that sorted. It is a narrower but deeper projector than the epson meaning I had to use full extension on the prg-exa to make sure it had clearance on the back. But yeah was soon easily mounted squared / leveled up with the peerless no probs. Hook up was pretty simple just the same as with the epson. I downloaded the jvc manual for a quick peak to familiarise myself, but the remote and everything appeared pretty intuitive so off I went with switch on. Easy enough in use, the menus on the jvc and remote pretty straight forward. In alignment with vertical/horizontal shift and zooming these beign motorised is pretty handy on the jvc vs the manual controls on the epson. the focus for instance can pretty much stand at the screen and get just right in adjusting vs with the manual control on the epson have to stand at the projector and try and do it manually. The controls for focus zoom and image shift are quite fine in resolution so easy to use, however strangely I did notice just in one direction ie in upwards vertical shift the jvc is a little coarse in movement ie jumps/steps upwards but coming downwards is quite smooth. odd just meant took a few goes to get just right OK on to watching something onscreen !

So I have a few questions as I cant seem to get this projector doing anything I want it to.. First issue - I have a Seagate wireless media player full of movies. I was under the impression that the wireless projector and the media player would be able to talk to each other without fuss. On the projector it manages to find the Seagate wireless signal but thats it. It doesn't read the media player as in there is no menu full of movies. Ideas? Second Issue - Mirroring. I can mirror images from my phone but when I try to load the netflix app, I can read the menu but on pressing play, the title of the show is there but no picture. Third Issue - Just bought a cheap DVD player that is just supposed to connect to anything via HDMI. I'm getting Source:HDMI, No Signal. Arrgh! Would be very grateful if anyone could tell me where I am going wrong? Thanks

Further information: For sale: Epson SC-P600 A3+/13” professional quality photo printer, in excellent condition with all original packaging and a complete set of replacement ink plus a second spare Matte Black cartridge, as well as the ink that's in the printer currently. The cartridges new would be about $500, though these are past their 'use-by' date I've never encountered a problem with them. See screenshot below, showing current ink levels in the printer--the extra set of cartridges is in addition to the ink that's in the printer already. I’m only selling because I’ve upgraded to a larger size printer—the prints from this have been super impressive, including framed photos that have withstood 5+ years of sunshine, without fading, on my wall. Price includes GST, tax invoice/receipt available if desired. Pickup preferred, from Surry Hills NSW (right near Central). From the Epson website: “…delivers professional features including high-capacity cartridges, networking and wireless connectivity, plus advanced media handling. Epson UltraChrome® HD pigment ink, combined with Epson's innovative MicroPiezo® print head, enables the SC-P600 to produce gallery-quality black-and-white output, plus vivid colour prints with breathtaking blues and violets. The Epson SureColor SC-P600 is setting new benchmarks in A3+ professional photographic printing, delivering the highest D-max to date and unsurpassed black and white photography along with outstanding colour exhibition quality prints. Ideal for amateur and semi-professional photographers the SureColor SC-P600 is also perfect for any business that has a regular requirement for high-quality colour presentations.” See the site for more details, measurements etc. https://www.epson.com.au/products/inkjet/SC-P600.asp From the reviews: “This printer has an all-new ink set with new colorants, new resin encapsulation and a higher D-max. The greater black density…can be seen. It’s visually a small difference, but definitely there. That’s with the Photo Black ink...the real knock-out to my eyes, and also a couple of knowledgable observers who I showed prints to is the increased D-Max of the Matte black ink. According to an Epson rep their Matte black ink has not been updated or upgraded in many years. Now it has been, and the difference is immediately visually apparent…” Photos:

Further information: EDIT: Dropping the price a bit as I'd rather sell on here than Ebay/Gumtree if possible Just over two years old and has been mounted in a (clean, no smoking or pets) theatre room since purchase. Never been removed from the mount since install, so it’s in pretty much perfect condition. I’ve had zero issues with the projector, it’s been fantastic, and I’m really only upgrading because a), I’m an idiot, and b) I recently got a bonus from work and feel like splurging. It has been professionally calibrated but I guess that’s calibrated to my room (pretty much pitch black) and screen. Regardless I won’t factory reset it unless you want me to. Almost 3000 hours on the lamp so will need a new one soonish (around $129 new). Lamp is rated to between 3500 and 5000 hours) just bear that in mind. Any other questions or pertinent info I’ve missed, just hit me up! I’d much rather pickup (we can work around the virus and stay safe), or if you’re close-ish I can deliver, just because it’s a bit of a pain in the butt, and a little risky, to post a massive projector, but I’ll do that if need be.

EXPIRED: FS:Epson EMP-TW700 projector
Aze posted a topic in Stereo, Home Cinema, Headphones Components
Hi all, Having just gotten a new (to me) projector its time to move the old one on to someone who can use it. As above it is an Epson EMP-TW700 720p projector, no issues that I know of, 361 hours on the globe so should be fine for a long time still. Great for someone just starting out, or as a second pj for kids etc, although not full hd it still gives a very watchable image and has great flexibility in placement with its 2.1 zoom and high adjustability. Pick up preferred eastern suburbs Melbourne, and it comes with the box and remote. Photos of images on a 110" screen can be sent via sms or email if interested, just pm me details. Looking for $250. Thanks, Aze -

Further information: I'm selling this projector as I got a TW-9400 not long after this. Epson TW-7100 bought from Epson as "seconds" only a few months ago. No idea why it was classed as seconds, as it presented as new. This is a fantastic projector for the price, with Epson's 4k e-shift technology that shifts the image by a pixel, to effectively create a 4K like image. Basically it is an upscaling of any non 4K content, which is not what I thought beforehand and was a pleasant surprise. If your source has upscaling too, the result is similar. 4K content looks much the same as true 4K devices. Also has many of the latest video standards. I have only used this for around 15-20 hours, so you have many hundreds of hours of lamp life left and the projector still presents like new. This projector is great in it's flexibility. You don't need to connect to an amp if you don't want, or only for watching movies, as it has stereo speakers. You can also place it just about anywhere as it's not massive and has lens shift. I will give the receipt to the buyer so you can claim warranty if needed. It has 9 months remaining. Includes everything that it came with (remote, instructions, original box etc) and hasn't been registered with Epson, so you may be able to get a bonus by doing so. I can arrange pickup or delivery in the Sydney area or between there and Mudgee, or will ship at buyers cost. Shipping will be around $50 - $100 with insurance. Further information: Hi, selling my Epson 9300W projector due to upgrade. Nothing I can really say here to recommend this projector more than the myriad online reviews available, other than to say I'm genuinely sad to see it go - really hoping it finds another owner here who will appreciate is just as much as I have. Only reason I'm upgrading is simply because I use it for gaming as well as cinema - and thus with the new Nvidia graphics cards being released, I finally have need of the 4K60 capabilities offered by the 9400. Please note that this projector is still capable of 4k movie watching (4k30, eshift), has full BT.2020 colour and produces genuinely excellent HDR images. It has been ceiling mounted and kept essentially pristine in my home since purchase. Lamp is still in excellent order, and sale will also include the wireless sender. A year ago I needed to have the plastic slider that moves the cinema filter replaced, which I had done by the great people at Components Plus. Any queries, happy to answer, especially with current COVID circumstances, shipping queries, etc. Cheers! Further information: I'm looking to sell my superb Epson TW9200W projector (also known as the 5030UBe in the states and other countries) which I have loved using for movies and gaming. If you are not familiar with Epson projectors, then you know that it is a premium product. This model was the top of the line when it was released. In 2020, you are still getting an amazing image for the price and the contrast and colour blows many current offerings out of the water. It was sold at digitalcinema for $3,500 https://www.digitalcinema.com.au/epson-eh-tw9200w-3d-hd-thx-home-theater-projector.html. Comes with 2 pairs of the original 3d glasses, original remote control and power cable. It is still on it's first lamp which is under 1000 hours, which shows how little run time it has had. Plenty of time on the lamp which last for 4000hrs or 5000hrs on Eco mode. This would suit someone who is looking to dip their toes in water with projectors. The level of immersion is incredible when compared to TVs. It has been ceiling mounted for all of it's life after being installed professionally and has lives a comfortable life pet and smoke free. I would prefer a local pickup but will certainly accommodate shipping if necessary. Features: - Excellent sharpness and contrast ratio 600,000:1 - Wide lens zoom and shifting means you can have flexibility mounting - Wireless transmitter. No need to run hdmi cables, but will still need a powerpoint near the projector.
