Item: Quad ESL57 Electrostatic Speakers Location: Len Wallis Audio, HQ Price: $1750 Reduced to $1450 Item Condition: Very good secondhand condition Shipping: Not available for this product, pick-up only* Payment Method: Credit Card, Cash, Paypal, Bank Transfer, ZipPay Extra Info: These rare and iconic Quad ESL57 Electrostatic loudspeakers in very good, original condition with matching serial numbers. These where the first Electrostatic Speakers from Quad, and the first Electrostatics put into mass production. From Quad: The use of Electrostatic technology goes back towards the early 1900s. It was first used by a scientist from the UK - Lawrence Frederick Richardson, who was developing its use for underwater object detection. Through being used for scientific research, and then later adapted towards the 1920s for condenser microphones, it was yet to be used in loudspeaker design until Peter Walker’s curious approach to loudspeaker development led to the ESL. The ESLs cult following and iconic status is not just because it was the first to use such technology – like all projects led by Peter Walker, this was to quench his thirst of reproducing sound originally as it was recorded. *Why no shipping on this product? Due to the delicate nature of these speakers, we're not offering shipping on these due to the risk of damage from couriers.. Photos:

Manufactured in the USA, these are the most desirable model, the fullrange Spectre 33. These electrostatic speakers do BASS. Item: Acoustat 2+2 (4 panels per side) with Bryan's (Lansche Plasma Guy) modifications + frames, does not include transformers or DD Amplifier. Location: Melbourne, North East Price: $2000 Item Condition: very good Reason for selling: My better half sat me down for a talk yesterday…….. it did not end well! Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, bank transfer Only. Can ship at buyers expense however pickup is preferred Extra Info: VERY VERY RELUCTANT SALE. I located the panels in the US and had them shipped out after hearing Bryans amazing setup. I sold my new Magnepan 3.7s and began the journey. I just don't have the funds for the Direct drive stereo amplifier to run them to their full potential. The panels are in frames with 4 per side. All wire modifications are made (I have left the wires long to allow for varying panel setup). They include the speaker wires made to suit the high voltage needed. I am currently running them with a modified 2+2 transformer power supply's on loan from Bryan. Here is some interesting reading on Bryans modifications and Steve M's impressions: http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/topic/61877-best-speaker-in-the-world-just-got-better/?hl=acoustat Pictures:

Item: Martin Logan Summit Speakers Location: Gosford NSW Price: $6750.00 neg Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Potential upgrade Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: I have the opportunity to upgrade to the "X" version of these speakers, so I'm seeing if there's any interest in this pair. If not, I'll happily keep them as they pretty much do everything I'm looking for in a speaker. Active bass down into the low 20Hz region, full, seamless and transparent electrostatic goodness for the rest of the frequency range. Not obtrusive and work well in my smallish room. Equally at home with good valve or solid state amplification. Lightning fast, revealing and fun. Pickup greatly preferred, although I could help out with transport to Sydney, or to a local Pack & Send. Pictures:

Item: Acoustat 6 Speaker with Roger Modjeski Direct Drive Amplifier Location: Gosford/Sydney Price: $6000 Neg Item Condition: Speakers good, Amplifier brand new. Reason for selling: Not used Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal if buyer pays fees, COD Only Will be making a donation to SNA upon successful sale. Extra Info: I need to face reality and accept I'm never going to have the time to finish this project, so I may as well let someone else enjoy it. The Acoustat speakers originally have 8 panels per side. 4 of them have been removed and sold in preparation for building the "Best Speakers in the World", as per this thread http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/topic/61877-best-speaker-in-the-world-just-got-better/?hl=acoustat#entry1051940 As they stand, they still function perfectly and to be honest, I can't hear a huge difference without the other panels. Power supply, frames, stands and transformers are all there and functioning. I also have assorted brochures and paperwork to go with them. I won't carry on about the sound here, suffice to say once you've heard these, you'll find it hard to go back to other speakers. The Roger Modjeski Amplifier is still with Roger in America. It can be shipped immediately it's needed. So there you go, a state of the art system as it stands, that can be made into a world beater with basically labour only. That stage of the project should not be undertaken lightly though. You're dealing with potentially lethal voltages here (4000v upwards) so, unless you're thoroughly familiar with something like this, don't attempt it. Pay someone else and reap the benefits. Also, be aware these speakers are just on 8 feet tall, and about 2 feet wide. So you'll need a decent sized room for them. http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/topic/56698-the-best-system-i-have-heard/?hl=acoustat#entry964891 There's plenty of information both here, and on Roger Modjeskis forum regarding this project and I'm happy for anyone here to chime in on this thread, with advice or opinions if they've heard Steve's System or Rab's.
