  1. Further Information: I have had these since brand new, they are not yet run in having only been used a little. They are the current series of the Emit line. They are not the previous model with the "M" as "Emit M30". They are the "Emit 30" as you can see by the smaller grille and curved top baffle. Impedance is 4ohms and are easier to drive than the previous model with a steadier impedance curve as well as having an improved crossover. The current model also features upgraded woofers, magnets and the tweeter is improved/from the Evoke series. Original spikes for the feet and rear port foam bungs included. I do not have the original boxes so they are pick up only.

  3. Further Information: Up for sale are one pair of black Emit 20 bookshelf speakers in immaculate condition purchased new in Jan 2023. These play like full range speakers with impressive, solid bass along with a wide soundstage. They carry over the Cerotar tweeter from the Evoke series to present detailed, sweet treble that is never fatiguing. Also well reviewed for their size: https://hifiplus.com/articles/dynaudio-emit-20-stand-mount-loudspeakers/ Comes with original packing box and materials. Pickup from Leura NSW
  4. In a quandary folks. My main system is a pair of single driver Audiospheres powered by a PP EL84 amp. Main source is a Garrard 401 with alloy bodied DL 103r feeding a MF VLPS and VPSU. In moving house, we want music on the verandah, out the back, when cooking, as background when dining... I was contemplating ceiling speakers in zones, but even a basic multi zone setup will be mega dollars. Out of the blue, my wife suggested a mobile system on a trolley. So, I contemplate the following: PS Audio Sprout 100 (100w into 4 ohms) with a macbook pro as source (where all our iTunes is) and a good pair of bookshelf speakers in the 1-2k range. Early shortlist options are Dynaudio Emit 10 or 20, or Sonus Faber Venere 1.5. We listen to everything. 80s and 90s dance, jazz, female vocal, blues, rock, metal, pop etc Any thoughts?
  5. After much research I ended up auditioning some KEF LS50W speakers. They sounded good but weren't set up properly - no speaker stands and only bluetooth audio connection available. Right next to the KEFs were some Dynaudio XD 200. These were set up properly on stands and sounded better than the KEFs, but at a substantially higher price. After some more research looking at Dynaudio LYD 48. They are professional monitors but can be compared directly to the KEFs price-wise. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to audition the LYDs, but it looks like the formula they use isn't a million miles off from the XDs. Is there any reason I shouldn't explore using pro monitors for home use? Is there a reason the XD is twice the price of the LYD? Also I don't see any mention of the XD series on the forum, is a reason for that? Hopefully someone can shed some light for me at this confusing time!
  6. **WARNING - Non Directional Rantings ahead** Part One: Pithy Gushy Superlatives of a Man in Love Not sure if this belongs more in the review section or here but figure it may take twists and turns and be updated...and obviously happy for others to contribute so I guess it will live here for now... I finally have my contours home with me. It has been another very favorable experience with Denis White AV on Unley road in ADL, specifically with Marek there. It all began several months ago when i noticed they were clearing the S1.4s at a very generous discount and that they had secured a supply for quite a few pairs. Curiosity lead to an (the first of many) audition...OOPS...and of course an audition lead to desire, temptation. Much like Oscar Wilde - resisting temptation is not one of my finer qualities and so i commenced down the slippery slope of justification. And so a lay-buy was setup and between then and now i had the privilege of many extended listening sessions in store and now finally, at home. So here's my thoughts - disjointed and often from a memory that is hardly infallible Every well known brand has it's Fanboys (and girls) and I am probably at risk of being in this category with Dyn's - possibly partially to spite my father who is both feet firmly in the B&W Brigade In fairness however I have always loved the craftsmanship of Dyn speakers and from when i first heard them the tonal characteristics they present across the whole range had me. I have lived very happily with a pair of X16s from their excite range and didn't really think i would move on up anytime soon. Firstly, the craftsmanship is astounding. My Excites are a solid, well engineered Standmount speaker and hefty enough at 9.0kg a piece. These are next level... 12.6kg each, solid metal baffles, magnetic grills and an exquisitely lacquered timber veneer. Ah, that finish - for weeks i flip flopped between oiled walnut and lacquered Bubinga. Both are beautiful - I was 'this' close to deciding on the Walnut as it's smart, very Scandinavian looking and classy yet understated. That said the Bubinga is a highly polished jewel. Forget furniture grade this is god only knows how many coats of glass-like clear on some of the most exquisitely grained timber I have ever witnessed. I love the look of these, Majestically tall and lean, sitting atop their own plinth that is neatly recessed in on all sides. The plinth houses the binding posts and the crossover is also mounted to this (or so I`m told). Interestingly, I am finding in situ they look quite handsome with the grills snapped into place (which is lucky as i have two dogs who seem not to know where their tails start and end...) but the perverted nerd in me loves to see `em nekid and I imagine this is how all critical listening will occur, although right now they are being `broken in` and sound absolutely luverly behind the veiled mask.
  7. Hi guys / gals I am acquiring the above speakers and my research thus far causes me to feel pretty confident that neither of my integrated family entertainment focused amps (Yamaha RX V773 and Onkyo TX NR737) will be up to snuff. It will live in an apartment living space approx 4 m x 8 m (or less likely a 4 x 3 - but my Elacs 243.3 seem pretty happy for bedroom duties, and are driven comfortably by the same Yamaha - to my ears anyway). Any suggestions for suitable amp budgeted at $1500 second hand (max.)?
  8. New range from Dynaudio. The Evoke 10 costs £1250, the Evoke 20 is £1800, the Evoke 30 and Evoke 50 floorstanders are £2900 and £3900 respectively, while the Evoke 25C is priced £1100. Thinks this range replaces the Focus series.

  10. Hi all, Ill try and make this quick Room - odd shape due to open living plan. Small / Medium size, tiled floor, pretty light and airy (Pretty much the worst kind of listening environment, however were only renting Want a system to use along side new Panasonic plasma. Want to be able to watch TV and blurays. More importantly i want to listen to music, jazz, classical, easy listening, nothing to heavy. I dont want more than a 2.1 setup. I'm having trouble figuring out which is the best way to power a system like im describing? I auditioned a pair of dynaudio dm 2/6 hooked up to a NAD receiver the T775 i think. I found the listening experience very appealing. However, i only wanted to spend $1700 on 2 decent fronts and something to power them. It seems like im paying for a whole lot features im not interested in if i was to buy i big 7.1 receiver. What are my best options?
  11. Hello all, I would like to inform every one of the Sydney Audio Club’s upcoming meetings for anyone who may be interested in attending. Each month I will post a copy of our newsletter highlighting who will be presenting at our next gathering. See post below. All are welcome, so please post here for more info, or see our website for calender dates, www.sydneyaudioclub.org.au/ You don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound. Hope to see you there. Potential Presenters: I’ve been a member of the Sydney Audio Club for over a year now and love it and have recently joined the committee in the role as Events Coordinator. This is a joint role with another committee member whose career background is in Pro Audio. Together we source and organise Home and Pro audio equipment from Distributors, Retailers, Direct to Market Companies, Representatives and our Members, to showcase their gear for the enjoyment of our members and guests at our monthly meetings held at Dence Park Creative Centre in Epping. The Sydney Audio Club offers companies an opportunity to present and demonstrate their equipment to the club. It could be a single piece of kit or an entire system, something new to market or an old favourite. Also we have recently updated our website to list our presenters over the last 12 months in the public area. Anyone interested in offering and presenting any gear at our future meetings, feel free to contact myself for further discussions. Meetings are on Sundays and openings are available from Feb 2013.
  12. Hi Folks, just wondering if any one can recommend a really hi end audiophile powered speaker that is not D class? thanks
  13. Hello Guys I am looking for a replacement woofer for a Dynaudio DM 2, 7 book shelf speakers- i found a link for them in the USA but the shipping and woofer was more then the speakers are worth, does anyone have a unit i could buy or know if i could use a replacement woofer from a 3rd party or another brand , i think they used the same unit in the bigger floor standers just more of them and also in the centre speaker, am tempted to buy the centre speaker for sale in the home theatre classifieds but the size of the centre console to ship to Perth will again blow out the cost. Also i think an Air a6 woofer could be used but i am not sure., Any help appreciated, thanks Adam
  14. Hi All, I'm currently building a system and have a pair of dynaudio dm 2/6 speakers, I was just wondering what would be a good amp to match these? I'm on a bit of a budget so the two I was considering was the Marantz PM6004 or the Rotel RA-10. Does anyone have any views on these or is there something else I should be looking at? Cheers
  15. I've recently set up a pair of Dynaudio Focus 160 standmounters and have been running them through a Denon receiver. Although they sound great, the receiver is just not doing them justice. I'm looking for either a good integrated or pre/power setup to drive them and I have been told that the Dyns like a lot of power (rated at 4 ohms and 85db). So here are the main requirements: Integrated or pre/power combo Min 150W into 4 ohms (or a pwr output able to drive these guys) Should have >3 analog inputs (phono and digital inputs not necessary) Aesthetics not a major concern but great if it is available in black Budget - I'd like to keep it under $3k I have a preference for new or demo model as I would like to retain warranty etc. My shortlist (based on internet research) so far: Roksan Kandy K2 integrated Parasound P3/A23 Any thoughts and ideas about other suitable amps I should be auditioning would be appreciated.
  16. So I purchased a new pair of Focus 160s from Douglas as a Christmas present to myself in 2011 and I've been thoroughly enjoying them since pairing them up with my Plinius Hautonga earlier this year. Now I've come across a pair of S1.4s selling for cheaper than what I paid for my 160s and I'm seriously considering upgrading. My question is, would the S1.4s be a step up from the brand new Focus 160 line, considering the 160 utilizing newer hardware? Also I'm unaware of how old these S1.4s are, would it be worth going from brand new pair of 160s to older speakers?
  17. I've been looking at ways to best clean/protect the piano gloss finish on my C1 Signatures as I'd like to keep them scratch free and glossy for many years to come. They are finished in a wood veneer with high gloss lacquer. After reading through many online posts, I'm getting mixed feedback on this topic. Some have recommended Turtle Wax Ice Liquid or Meguiars Next Tech, some furniture polish and others have suggested not using any products at all. I did ask a piano vendor and they just suggested furniture polish, however I'm reluctant to use abrasive polishes as this will wear down the lacquer over time. Does anyone here have any experience with this?
  18. Has anyone heard the Dynaudio Contour s1.4 LE speakers yet? I don't have any shops nearby where I can audition a s1.4, neither the old one, nor the newer LE one. I have heard the Dynaudio Focus 160 and Confidence C1 Signature, so it would be great if someone could compare against those. I liked the 160, apart from a slight edge on the treble one a few songs, but on most songs this didn't happen. This is slightly under budget, but I'd have bought it if it wasn't so ugly. The C1 didn't have the issue at all, and is breathtaking in the mid range and treble, and digs deep in the bass, kicking hard. It's too expensive though. I love the look of the new s1.4 LE, so if it has what the 160 has without the treble spikes it would be great. I listen to almost all kinds of music, so it's important to me to have an all rounder. If someone hasn't heard the C1 or 160, maybe they could compare against one of the ones below: Speakers that sounded good on my amplifier (the one I'll likely run these on): Dynaudio Confidence C1 Signature Vienna Acoustics Bach Grand SE Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grand SE Linn Majik Isobarik ATC SCM 11 ATC SCM 19 PMC Twenty.23 Jamo D830 Spendor SA1 B&W PM1 Speakers that sounded OK on my amplifier: PMC Twenty.24 Dynaudio Focus 160 Dali Rubicon 2 AudioPhysic Classic 20 Spendor A5 Spendor D7 B&W CM9 B&W CM10 Sonus Faber Toy Tower Speakers that sounded bad on my amplifier: Proac Response D18 Linn Majik 140 PMC Twenty.22 Naim Ovator S400 Sonus Faber Cremona Spendor SP3/1R2
  19. Did quick search and found this thread from 2014: Kind of answers my query but I'm still a bit confused - if someone here can rephrase it slightly? Basically I picked up an identical twin sub from crap converters for a ree dic you lus sum of money - 90 bucks and no that's not a typo. A Sonique Thunderbox 1200 in far better condition than the one I currently have.... The second sub now sits on the other side of the LH speaker below the waterfall photo. I've daisy chained it from existing one via a 5m RCA interconnect - line out to line in. I think I've managed to blend the two pretty evenly, mucked around with the 0/180 phasing and found it sounds best when both of them are an exact match.....why this is I'm not sure. I set the crossover rolloff fairly low, about 50hz give or take (because I'm sure this isn't an absolute drop off, it's simply the point where the sound starts attenuating). And because I'm now running twins, I've dropped the overall volume on both to compensate. The improvement was immediate. It's simply fattened everything up but not at the expense of sharpness or imaging. Sound simply pours into the room completely free of stress. My question: Is there an alternate way to hook them up? My preamp has dual preouts but one is already fed directly to the power amp, the other is for sub duties. I didn't want to run a Y-splitter from the pre to each sub as it would reduce the impedance each sub receives.
  20. Would appreciate advice on whether there are any foreseeable problems in driving a pair of 4 ohm rated DynAudios from a Denon AVR2310. I have been running them as a 2 channel system off a Yamaha A-S700 but I am considering adding a DynAudio center speaker and hooking up to the Denon as a 3 speaker system. Getting mixed responses as to overheating and music quality issue. Very small listening area and rare to take things up past about 30% of capability. I have another set of DynAudio Excite 12 speakers (also rated as 4ohm) as an option. All comments most appreciated. (PS: should have added the Denon VR is rated at 6-16ohm).
  21. Hey guys. Im looking at upgrading my centre channel speaker from a crappy old jvc speaker to a dynaudio excite x24. Currently my left and right channels are dynaudio dm2/8 being powered by an emotiva basx a-300 and being fed by a yamaha rxv-1079. The dynaudio centre channel is 8 ohm and 85 db sensitivity and can be acquired for around $600 which just falls into my budget. My questions are whether this centre channel speaker would lack the power from yamaha receiver and whether it can be bi-amped sufficiently from the receiver ? Massive room at about 400 cubic metres but sitting distance is approximately 4.5m from a 75 " bravia. Would you discourage me from having a mix of 4ohm and 8 ohm speakers even though the L/R are being driven independently ? Your thoughts would be appreciated
