  1. Hi, Sorry if this is covered somewhere but I couldn't find a thread. Recently down loaded some .DSF files onto the Onkyo player onto my iPhone. Playing these files through a Chord Mojo lights up the DSD light so assume it working correctly. So today in the car though I would try feeding it into the car's sound system (thought the UBS) and the files played, sounded good but this is a good recording anyway. Given the car has DAB radio is it likely that these files played as 'proper' DSD though the car? Has anyone else tried this?
  2. Hi Folks, Just a quick note, just went for a walk with my phone playing thought my Chord MOJO. I have just noticed the signal light has illuminated in white. This indicates the DAC is receiving a 1 bit DSD signal. Had a quick google and there is something about Spotify trialing hi res or something? Anyway, if you are interested. P.S. listening to Moog - I Feel You Now.
  3. I discovered on the weekend I have the capability of enjoying multichannel DSD files at my fingertips! This is without resorting to very expensive dedicated multichannel DACs. I’m sure they are very good but definitely out of my price range. I use my Panasonic 4K Blu-ray player ($300 at the good guys). I use a USB or SSD attached storage formatted in fat32 to supply the DSF files. Thr 4K player is connected via HDMI to a Marantz AV receiver which does the DA conversion. the Panasonic reads DSD64 and DSD128 in 5.1ch and DSD256 in 2ch. My Chord Mojo with Audirvarna definitely had a deeper more detailed sound stage in DSD256 2ch than the above setup but the 5.1 files are very impressive. A side note: nativedsd no longer sell individual DSF tracks unbundled from albums. Don’t despair channel classics does!!!!
  4. Hi Guys, I am looking to experience the DSD music. I got a Klein ll want to use the DSD through the DAC. Can anyone help me how to play a DSD through PC. Do we need any special player to play DSD files? Any specific sites for sample DSD download? I am new to DSD and any help much appreciated. Thanks
  5. Hi there everyone. I'm in the market for an integrated amp and turntable, anyone know of any hifi stores doing great Black Friday deals?
  6. Hi are there any websites where you can download some dsd files, without having to get a ghost vpn? The only ones I know of are Blue Coast (very limited artist range). I know eclassical have sacd but do not offer dsd downloads. I want to try and play around with some files and compare dsd to hi-res and 16 bit. Thanks
  7. Stumbled upon this, hope useful for folks searching the same resources http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue65/DSD%20Database%20-%20Sheet1.pdf DSD_Database_Sheet.pdf
  8. there are lots of OS Websites offering high-res audio downloads ('DSD', FLAC etc) but there are "restrictions" preventing us from purchasing/downloading them from here (downunder Aust!) has anyone found any 'local' distributors or can recommend a workaround to this problem? why is our access to content so heavily restricted?
  9. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/301397942069?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 I was wondering what people can tell me about this little device. The specs sound good and I like that it has what it looks like an i2s HDMI output. I am interested to know if it would be possible to use an USB DAC for HD movies with JRiver. High Res DSD doesn't seem to be that different except for the format.
  10. With the computer becoming more common as a digital source, and all the USB DAC's that pop up everywhere, the wait is for the first wave of multichannel DAC's. HDMI is now the only option for multichannel HD audio, at this point, except for some professional sound cards, unless you like to use your PC as an analog source. I came across a couple of reads and possibilities which really uses the strength of the PC to it's benefit. http://www.whatsbestforum.com/showthread.php?13352-The-***Unofficial***-Multichannel-DAC-Thread Home Theatre http://www.acousticfrontiers.com/201366how-to-replace-your-home-theater-pre-pro-with-a-htpc/ Stereo http://www.computera...usb-dac-review/

  14. Further information: Selling my Ayon Audio NW-T/DSD Vacuum Tube Network Transport (RRP $8395). I am the first owner and bought this unit in January 2020. The NW-T is the only vacuum tube based, Pure CLASS A Network Player in production anywhere. It has a warm analog tube sound, it is perfect for any digital file listening. It has the DSD upgrade Kit fitted. The unit has a small scratch on the RH, the rest is perfect. The NW-T network playe is a new outstanding design which includes a Network-Transport with its “tube buffered digital output stage” and an Analog/Digital converter (ADC). The Network-Transport can be connected with any external DAC or CD-player with a digital input (DAC section). Furthermore its built-in ADC can be used to convert analog signals (e.g. of a phono-stage) into digital signals or into FLAC files respectively and to store them afterwards in an NAS. Special attention was paid to the tube-power supply and the digital output signal, because this digital interface is significantly involved to achieve "analog-magic" sound properties in the external DAC to a large extent. The NW-T was designed to maintain all advantages of a tube (in the power supply as well as in the digital output stage) in combination with streaming. The NW-T uniquely unifies both and offers a new dimension of sound far above its class. I'm the 2nd owner. This DAC hits way above the price point. Excellent resolution and detail with a plethora of inputs. Can be compared to a Swiss Knife considering all the options included. I use my ARCAM CD-92T CD player (With DCS Ring-DAC) and enjoy it more than this. (Probably one of those very few people who listen to CDs more than computer audio) . Its heavy and build like a tank with brushed Aluminium case. Unfortunately there's no box or manual since this is the same way I received it when I bought it, but will pack properly and ship if required. The DAC is in mint condition with zero cosmetic damages. 21. Item: Mytek Brooklyn DAC (Silver) Location: Melbourne (Currently on loan to a SNA member) Price: $1850 Item Condition: Very Good Reason for selling: No longer required Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: The unit is currently on loan to an SNA member in Melbourne so my preference is for pick. I am the second owner of this well-regarded DAC which will process PCM, DSD and MQA. I have used it on and off for around 18 months. I had a brief try of DSD which sounds nice but to be honest, I can't be bothered with setting up the computer and running HQ player. I would rather just use my streamer. I also have a couple of SACD players with good internal DAC's so I really don't need the Brooklyn as well. The Brooklyn will also function as a phono, preamp and headphone amp (I have never tried using the phono or headphone section) The unit comes with its box, original USB cable and Apple Remote. The DAC software is updatable by the users and is a simple process. I have stolen a couple of images from a previous Brooklyn that was sold on SNA (I am not currently in possession of the DAC) but I should be able to get some images in a couple of days of the actual unit. http://www.digitalaudioreview.net/2016/07/the-host-with-the-most-mytek-digitals-brooklyn/ https://mytekdigital.com/hifi/products/brooklyn/ Pictures:
  22. TEAC is the parent company of the world famous ESOTERIC brand known for their ultra expensive DACs and transports. The UD-501 is a fantastic DAC that has DSD capability, it is "strongly recommended" in the review done by Absolute Sound http://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/teac-ud-501-digital-converter/ This unit sounds incredible. Better than some DACs I’ve had costing more. 23. Further information: I bought this few months ago for $700. It is an excellent DAC at this price range with clear mellow sound. But I decided to sell it because I miss the MQA sound. 24. Item: Topping D10 DAC Location: Princes Hill Price: $90 + postage ONO Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: I just wanted to see what it was like. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: I bought this DAC from Topping via Alibaba about two weeks ago just to try out upsampling PCM to DSD using roon. The DAC, for the price, is amazing - lots of detail, good bass control and quite a nice top end. The build quality is also very good. Given the price I was extremely impressed. The DAC uses the power from the USB input so no external power supply is required. I was driving it using a Raspberry Pi and it worked well. The DAC comes in its original packing and is in excellent condition. It was only used for about four hours. There isn't much information available on the web but here is a link to the manufacturers website: http://www.tpdz.net/en/products/d10/index.htm Now my experiment is over it's time to move it on.
