Testing 3 different speaker cables over the weekend 1. Kharma supreme reference 2. Analysis plus big silver oval 3. Chord Company Sarum Kharma has a nice musical sound with brilliant 3D depth I have never experienced before. Analysis plus were nice, neutral but plain I found. Chord Sarum had incredible detail, wide sound stage and perfect timing. Can be harsh though Depending on speakers & equipment. ** Is there a speaker cable anyone has heard that has the pros of the Kharma and Sarum cables combined without the brightness?? The bass punch on the Sarum was incredible where the Kharma’s bass extension was deep and elongated. The new bananas on both ends are authorised reterminations from The Analysis Plus distributor in Sydney, a couple of years ago, after I punished the original spades in long-term use on my VTL monoblocs. I bought these cables new from Audio Connection. I look after all my gear. I have been experimenting with other cables and these have been lying around in a dark cupboard, getting fat. Time to move them on. "After many computer simulations, Analysis Plus found that a hollow oval cable was the best design due to its minimal change in resistance with frequency, plus other benefits. The company chose a flexible, braided conductor rather than the conventional solid conductor, which is susceptible to kinks and deformations with resulting signal degradation. I found them to be a very good ‘all-rounder’ high end cable with terrific bass and percussion reproduction capability, quite transparent, and with a neutral to slightly warm sound overall (the way I like it). I consider them to inhabit the top of the 'middle range' of speaker cables (or maybe the bottom of the top range?). I have used them between a variety of amps into Martin Logans and Magnepans, with pleasing results.
