  1. Further Information: **open to negotiating a price for a serious buyer** An opportunity has presented and as a result, I need to sell my Luxman. I only took delivery of this beauty on Saturday 30th March after a 5 month wait. This one is not easy to part with however, it’s necessary. RRP $18,499 This is the latest flagship integrated amplifier from Luxman and it sounds tremendous! Please refer to the following link for all the tech specs: https://www.luxman.com/product/detail.php?id=45 Purchased from a local dealer in Melbourne and complete with box, papers and the balance of the warranty. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
  2. Further Information: Practically brand new 3 months old and lying in its box. . I bought this year from Addicted to Audio. Will have 2 year warranty unlike the models they’re dumping. Have boxes etc…. RRP $2950
  3. Hello guys, I currently own Focal Utopia, Hifiman HE1000 V2 & Campfire Audio Cascade. I currently use an A&K SP2000 & A&K L1000. I don't really know much about amplifiers as I use IEMs more often. Focal Utopia - 80 ohms & 104dB/1mW HE1000 V2 - 35Ohms & 90dB Cascade - 38Ohms & 100dB do I really need a desktop amp?? thank you.
  4. Hi I have a second hand NAD Stereo Integrated Amplifier C 326BEE that's not working properly. The amp powers on nicely and I've managed to get it working but only through the 'MAIN IN" channel, which is just directing the input straight out of the speakers. Any input connected to the MP, CD, TUNER, DISC, AUX, TAPE channels isn't amplifying, so there must be something out of place. Confidant the power and speaker output are working fine, and the lights on the front display are all lighting up. Has anyone had this issue before or any idea of what could be causing the problem? We took the case off and I've got no idea what I'd even be looking for... If you don't know how it could be fixed any comments on the quality of the amp / recommendations of repairs would be welcome. Cheers.
  5. Recently I started looking into amps in a Brazilian marketplace and I stumbled with this amp. Never heard of the brand but I really like the design. The sale description didn't have any information about specs, so I decided to do some research hoping to find something about it but to my surprise, nothing. I did find something about the models 4808 NF and 4808 A, but nothing about this one. The company website (https://www.cairn-ezo.com/) isn't online anymore, and even going through the Wayback Machine nothing turned out. And the SL isn't because of the color, because the components inside are different. It isn't that cheap and I have some 4 ohms speakers at the moment so I don't want to risk burning it, I hope someone has any information.
  6. I am looking to replace some class A amps, not because I don’t like them but for practical considerations. But, having been spoilt by them, am struggling with where to go next. The issue – we have one living space that is used for listening to music, watching TV/movies but also provides background/ambient music during the evening. It is the later that causes the issue. Being class A (well first 50 watts) they produce a bit of heat, and while they don’t get overly warm to the touch they do heat up the room over time. As summer approaches again (in Perth) we have found that we are turning the stereo off, and only using it for more critical listening, and this somewhat defeats the purpose – particularly as off means no music! So I am seeking some thoughts on alternatives, I am looking (hoping) for that liquidness in the highs one gets with class A, but without so much heat. Have tried a class A/B amp but it is not quite as good – although I would probably be happy with it I had not owned the others . Are there class A/B amps that people would recommend in this regard and what about class D - or is that a step to far?
  7. Hi, I'm very new to audio. My current experience is related to headphones. I recently got some HD6xx (HD650) and a JDS Labs Atom and I love it. My only problem is that now my other audio equipment sounds awful in comparison. I have borrowed some speakers from my Dad who no longer uses them. As the title suggests they are Canton Karat 300's. The specs that I found online are as follows- Manufacturer: Canton Model: Karat 300 Production Years: 1986 - 1987 Produced in: Deutschland Color: Black, White, Walnut Measurements: 310 x 500 x 290 mm (WxHxD) Weight: 13,8 kg Technical Data Form: 3-Way closed, Compact loudspreaker (aka Bookshelf speaker) Chassis: Woofer: 260 mm Cone Midrange: 38 mm Dome Tweeter: 20 mm Dome Loading: 90/130 W (RMS/Peak) Sensitivity: 91,2 dB Frequency Response: 25 - 30.000 Hz Crossover points: 850 / 4.200 Hz Impedence: 8 Ohm I have been trying to figure out what kind of amp I should use to power them. They won't be in a massive room but I don't want to underpower them and cause damage (I've read that under powering can cause damage, please correct me if I'm mistaken). Can anyone suggest an amp that would do these speakers justice without driving price up very high. I'd prefer to be spending $400 or less if possible (I've got a feeling that this might not be possible). I can't figure out what kind of power I need and whether I should be looking at using my atom as a preamp. Essentially I'm confused and the more reading I do the more confused I'm becoming about what is needed. Haha! Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks for your time!
  8. Further information: Selling my Cambridge Audio CXA 60 as I have moved to pre and power combo. Bought Feb 2020. Really great amp and would love to keep it but spent more than expected on recent purchase. Preference to local pickup in Perth. Can post as have the original packaging. Contribution to SNA upon successful sale. What HiFi magazine in awarding the CXA60 "Product of the Year" in its category 2 years in a row ratified how much they thought of this amplifier.Their words from their review........"Delivering in every aspect, the CXA60 remains the most exciting and competitively featured package out there. It looks smart, has a wide spread of connections and delivers a solid competitive sound that manages to be exciting and easy to listen to in equal measure." 9. Further information: This is in perfect condition. No longer used, so I'd rather see it go to someone that could use it instead of it just sitting around. Donation will be made to SN once sold Photos:
  10. Further information: Item: FS: ASR Emitter II amplifier Was asking $5500 originally) Extra Info: Purchased in late 2012. Have the upgrade kit to take it to 2014 spec (requires someone who is an expert solderer). Too big to take with me so letting go for way less than what I paid for it back in 2012 ($12.5k). I was using this beast to drive a pair of Rockport Avoirs and the sound was just awesome (ask Ed Kramer). Has 2x balanced inputs (not standard I believe) plus a sub out and a direct mode if you only have 1 component attactched to it. Always gets fantastic reviews which are well deserved. This is just way too big to ship overseas so it has to go. I have the original boxes so shippinh should be fairly easy (but not cheap I would guess). I think the combined weight is around 90Kg. 11. Further information: This C500 from Audio-GD is a dual mono class-A parallel amplifier. It is rated at 250W@8ohm per channel. The build, as always from Audio-GD, is exceptional. It contains only audiophile grade components, including DALE resistors, WIMA caps, custom order NOVER (UK brand) caps, all audiophile grade input/output sockets and gold IEC sockets. The chassis is also very impressive with heavy heat sink. Input sockets: RCA x2; XRL x2; CAST x1 The build is reflected in its weight. The shipping weight is 39kg in a big box 48CMx44CMx19CM. I still have the original box. As far as sound is concerned. Audio-GD claimed that it is “very neutral and neuter, truly delivers the sound of source and doesn't add any colour”. Personally, having used it for some 8 years, I found it very similar to my age old Audiolab 8000C/P with the exception that the C500 has a slight edge in imaging, bass and of course sheer power. This amp is discontinued from current production. But its design is still very much alive in its current line of amplifiers. The one closest to this amp is the Master-10 which retails for US$2180 excluding shipping. The two even look the same externally. The amp also comes with a remote for channel and volume control. This is very useful. It negates the need to get up from your seat and change it at the amplifier. BONUS: A China-made power cable and a pair of speaker cables The power cable has US style plug. The original spec can be found here: http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/amp/C500/C500EN.htm The Master-10 here: http://www.audio-gd.com/Master/Master102019/Master-102019EN.htm Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  12. Further information: I bought this Emotiva XPA 5 Gen 1 amp several years ago for my multi channel system which was retired years ago. Great amp in working order - see comment below. This five channel amp provides 200 watts @ 8 0hms and 300 watts @ 4 ohms all channel driven. Note: one of the RCA inputs is broken and needs to be replaced should single ended inputs be used. I've listed the price to reflect this. Emotiva is able to supply replacement RCA plugs or aftermarket RCA jacks can be fitted. All XLR inputs are fine. Photos:

  23. Further information: Feel free to get in touch with any questions $1340 RRP From Osborn site: https://www.osbornloudspeakers.com.au/a2-and-a3 Brand new from Consonance, at my request comes a 2 channel (A2) and a 3 channel (A3) power amplifier, for use in Home Theater systems. The amplifiers are the same amplifiers as used in the power sections of the R150. These are real power houses, and test in excess of 150 watts per channel. Their sonics are streets ahead of any amplifiers found in Home Theatre amplifiers. Using an A3 to power the centre and front channels, will make a significant improvement in clarity, detail, imaging and spaciousness of your system. There will now be sounds all around you, instead of the usual, "something at the front"," something at the back" sound given by most Theatre systems. The ideal is an A3 to power the centre and the rears, and an A2 to power the side effects speakers in a 7.1 system, and an amplifier with absolutely stunning sonics, such as the Cyber 100 15th anniversary model to power the front speakers, making the system truly spectacular for both Home Theatre and for music . A combination of an A2 and an A3 powering a 5.1 system will result in a stunning improvement of the experience of true surround sound in a 5.1 system. A great way to start the ideal system is to replace the front 3 channels with an A3, and at a later date, when finances have recovered, move the A3 to the centre and rears, and buy something really special to power the front speakers at a later date. David Wurtz, who was the Australian Editor of "Secrets of Home Theatre and High Fidelity, the World's largest Internet Hi Fi Magazine, tested all the amps made in Australia up to $12,500, but found that all of them were easily out performed by the A2 and A3, so he returned the large, expensive amplifiers and bought the Consonance at 1/6th the price of the next best sounding amp. The A2 is an excellent power amp when teamed with a suitable pre amp. Easily outperforming other popular amplifiers at 10 times the price. Rear of A3 shown. (A2 is same, but 2 channel.) SPECIFICATION: Power output: A3 -120W +120W + 120 at 8 Ohms (Tests at 150W/ch) Power output: A2 -120W +120W at 8 Ohms Minimum load: 2ohms speakers can be connected. Input Sources: 4 selectable inputs switched by gold plated relays Input Terminals: Gold plated Phono/RCA Output Terminals: One set of gold plated speaker terminals each channel Frequency response: Less than +/- 0.1 dB deviation 20Hz-80kHz Phase response: Less than 2 degrees deviation 20Hz-80kHz Signal-to-noise ratio: More than 100dB Crosstalk: Less than -100dB Distortion: Less than 0.04% @ 20W 80hms Inter-modulation: Less than 0.01% (19kHz + 20kHz) Damping factor: More than 800 Remote Control: RC-5 compatible IR system 36kHz modulation Dimensions: 12cm x 43cm x 32cm (HxWxD), 18kg shipment weight.
