  1. Just added this to replace a Denon MCD 38 to play music from my iMac.. Superb sound, more in a detailed review later on... 2. Hello everyone After spending a lot of time and money getting my system sounding great I decided a couple of weeks ago that it was time to turn my back on all that hard work and change things up. My motivators were wanting to simplify my setup, make it more wife friendly and have a dabble with some new tech that might assist overcoming my less than perfect Hifi room. Oh, it would also appear I wanted to spend some more money! ?? My previous setup was: ps audio p15 power - Antipodes CX/EX - ps audio DSD - ps audio bhk pre - ps audio bhk250 - Spendor d9.2’s. The setup was sweet and I really liked it - so much so that when I was dismantling it last week I was thinking WTF am I doing!?! My new chain looks like this... ps audio p15 power - Antipodes CX/EX - ps audio DSD - ps audio bhk pre - Dutch 8c’s. My plan - while probably a little silly & expensive - was to run the 8c’s for a week or two and either sell them if no good or sell the old gear to recoup funds (and stay married ). As I mentioned I had serious buyers remorse when I was pulling my system apart and plugging in the 8c’s. It took me about 3 hours & 6 beers to get everything done. I switched it all on and got an instant wow. An hour later I was so impressed I decided to start listing my spendors, bhk250 and some other bits and pieces for sale. Amongst a thousand low ball offers and silly tyre kicking - they all finally sold. Not for the money I wanted but enough to allow me to still sleep at night. I’m sure the new owners will be very happy with their new equipment. ? I’m now a week in and am very impressed with the 8c’s. My biggest fear was the bass. This concern has flipped and I can honestly say bass is the biggest strength of the 8c’s. The bass is clear, solid & impactful. My wife thought I had my HT sub connected. Its not and I have no intentions to do it. The roon compatibility is still coming for the 8c’s. They’ve been saying ‘soon’ for a long time and I’m not holding my breath. Once the firmware arrives I’ll probably sell my BHK pre & DSD but right now they are useful as the preamp offers HT bypass which is something I need. The biggest things I’m finding with the 8c’s is clarity, a wonderful immersive sound stage and the ability to tweak easily via the onboard DSP which is easy to use and integrates seamlessly with REW. I haven’t got any negatives but here are my neutral comments. 1. Roon integration. Wish they’d hurry! 2. The onboard dsp / REW integration feeds a parametric eq which is not as good as convolutions via roon. I’m going to get Thierry at Home Audio fidelity to make some filters for me. I sent him measurements tonight so hopefully will have them back tomorrow. These filters which are loaded on the roon DSP were a game changer on my old system and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do with the 8c’s. Stay tuned for an update once I get them. 3. The control is via a browser. Works fine. Haven’t had any hick-ups or problems but an app would be nice. 4. Only takes one input at a time (either AES or analog XLR). A control box like the Kii’s would be nice. 5. No speakers grills Perhaps not the best for those with little people who like touching things they shouldn’t!! ? Re the Kii’s - don’t get me wrong, they are great speakers but I’ve never really fallen in love with them on the odd occasion I’ve had the chance to listen to them. My impressions so far tell me the 8c’s are warmer, bigger and punchier. The 8c’s are also heaps cheaper!!. All the things I like but acknowledge different horses for different courses. Anyway, put this post up in the spirit of the community. Will provide more updates if people are interested. Also happy to answer questions if anyone has any. Lastly - thanks to @Geoff@HeyNow Hi-Fi for another good buying experience. Highly recommend him. Great guy & great service. Thanks, John.
  3. I have not been as active as I would have liked on SNA lately. Been working 7 days a week and a few other things, my apologies for those that have been trying to be in contact with me etc. Anyway A friend of mine has a pair of Beolab 9 speakers she wishes to sell. I offered to assist her in the process. There are historical posts here on SNA and elsewhere on the web, but I thought I would ask again, especially re: who are using them - and feedback? what they would be worth? how easy it is to connect to a TV, without lip-syncing issues? Any feedback will be appreciated.
  4. Trying to simplify set up and avoid hassle of speaker vs amp matching hence started looking into active bookshelf speakers... And looked into various models and brands such as Dynaudio, Quad, Klipsch, Fostex, Genelec, JBL etc etc.. And after reading many reviews with hours and hours spent, found that KEF LS50W is the most reviewed and majority of them are very positive except terrible mobile apps that comes with. Is there any other active speakers that match KEF LS50W in terms of sonic quality and user friendliness in the marketplace at present? If you know any other brand or model that you experienced that is same caliber as LS50W, please do share. Thank you in advance.
  5. Item: Considering a pair of KEF Wireless LS50 or LSX to work with my Roon in home office Price Range: Fair price for condition, plenty LSX have been selling new for as low as $1595 and possibly lower from retailers Item Condition: new to used Extra Info: Not to fussed about colour but in saying that some colours do look cooler. Would consider with or without some form of floor or desk stand.
  6. Hi all, I'm looking for a pair of active speakers to use on desktop stands for nearfield use. This will be for 99% music enjoyment and maybe 1% guitar monitoring, no professional use. My shortlist so far is the following: Buchardt A500 Kef LSX II or LS50W(might be too big) Genelec G Four or Five ( the Five might be too big) Neumann KH 120 JBL 4305P or the upcoming 4329P Studio Monitor (definitely too big) Devialet Phantom II - not ideal feature/connectivity wise but looks interesting Might also look to add a subwoofer down the line if needed with a mini DSP etc. Any thoughts and opinions will be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
  7. Further information: Speakers are in excellent condition and will come with their original box and receipt for warranty, of which I believe there is 2 years remaining. These are active speakers with 2x50W amplifiers per speaker. I previously owned passive X12's which were used in conjunction with a high quality amp and these are certainly comparable. Any questions send me a message, including if you would like a quote to send them. Thanks. Price was $600 (YU4) + $130 (stands), now the speakers itself grows up to $700! YU4 Deniswhite homecinema SP9 Desktop Stands The colour is bamboo which is the best among other colours IMO. 10. Further information: I'm 1st Owner. Used in a Karaoke system with excellent result. No shipping box but can arrange with agreed cost. Prefer local pickup. 11. Further Information: These active speakers are a great solution for a desktop system with the stands ensuring that the tweeters are at ear height for best performance. I've also used the speakers as "main speakers" with a low-pass to an active subwoofers. See https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/neumann-kh80-dsp-monitor-measurements-3.14637/ for some amazing measurements. The speakers have on-board digital EQ but I've just done EQ via convolution within Room. Preference given to local buyer.
  12. Further information: Dynaudio Focus 400XD 1 and a Half years old (approx) and in perfect condition. These speakers are fantastically accurate and precise. They allow high fidelity recordings to sing and the junk gets found out. General specs 3 x Drivers per cabinet Each driver has its own 150 watt amplifier Crossover is DSP 450 watts per cabinet Located in Brisbane Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  13. Further information: With limited space for speakers, amps, etc. I'm a huge fan of active speakers. Shortly after buying these, I was able to buy the bigger and far more expensive BeoLab 9 so these have been unused (other than testing that they work perfectly). These are an amazing design that looks very sleek and sounds bigger than it looks. Generally, a fairly neutral sound, but still musical and enjoyable (not a studio monitor). Able to be used with an RCA input from a preamp or DAC with volume control or with B&O's PowerLink connections. Retail price was about $6,000 when new. I can arrange to ship these, but it will likely be expensive due to size and weight so pickup would be preferable. I could also arrange to meet somewhere halfway-ish given suitable timing. Finally, the bases show some minor marks that are only visible up close (and might clean off given some gentle attention) and the top caps have some minor marks on the back edges - once again not visible unless inspecting up close.

  17. Further information: Non functional on one side, maybe due to bad connection or cable, the amp side work and is in excellent condition. I did not have the equipment or time for proper diagnostic, chose to upgrade. Broken side does not hiss when connected. Photos:
  18. Further information: Stunning Nocturne Edition of the original KEF LS50W. (Wireless). I have had this since new, originally purchased from Addicted To Audio. There is so much flexibility with this speaker system and its ability to go very loud is well known. The sub out feature is fabulous and works well with the app, allowing you to EQ to the space/room it sits in. Also, the Wireless 2 has lost the RCA inputs, which was another reason I went for this KEF. Add a turntable, CD player very easily. I need to fund equipment in another direction. Local pickup only please as I no longer have the boxes. https://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/kef-ls50-wireless-nocturne-active-loudspeaker-system
