Further Information: Relisted noting comments from other values members. This sublime power amplifier is being sold as new. It has been sitting on a shelf as part of stock . I have assembled and cleaned it. The valves are still running in with about 40 hours of use so far I am running it through my Quad EL57s. It is matched with a CARY SLP50 pre amplifier also listed for sale separately. ( I will consider a package) The amplifier when new had a rrp of $7800. If no sale I will definitely consider keeping. Any shipping is via pack and send and entirely at buyers risk and cost. Happy to demo in my studio South of Sydney about an hour away . Can ship but suggest pick up or could deliver within reasonable distance.

Further Information: For your consideration. Originally sold for almost $2700. This pre amplifier is currently matched with the CARY CAD 2A3 power amplifier also for sale on this forum.(Will consider a package price if interested) Like the power amplifier it has been sitting on a shelf for a while untouched. It has around 20 hours of use as I evaluate it for sale. My friend is moving OS and has asked me to help. Bottom end power and sound stage are all second to none as I listen via my EL56 QUADs . At the head end is currently a Sony CDP3100 broadcast CD player running via a Eastern Electric tube DAC. I love it and will be seriously considering buying myself if there are no interested parties..

Up for sale is my Italian beauty. The Unico Primo is a Unison Research's hybrid valve / class A integrated amplifier. Made in Italy, with plenty of power and kick that you would expect from a Class A MOSFET output and then the fun and sweetness of a Class A Valve input stage which allows you to play with different tubes for different sounds. It aslo has the lovely phono stage installed... so full retail is $3,499. I have swapped out the original tube for this Mullard 12AX7, I still have the original for you to try too. Check out how this beauty is built, but maybe this guy can tell it's story better than I can. Recently serviced by Kimil Electronics in Sydney (he is the Unison Research specialist in Australia) Technical characteristics Output power: 85W RMS on 8 Frequency response: -0.1dB @ 10Hz, – 0.5dB @ 100kHz Input stage: Pure A Class Tube stage (1 x ECC83/12AX7) Output stage: Dynamic A Class POWER MOSFET complementary pair Inputs: 5 line unbalanced (1 phono optional) Line Outputs: 1 tape, 1 sub (volume controlled) Outputs connectors: 4 + 4 bi-wiring Power consumption: 340W max Dimensions: 43.5cm x 9.5cm x 43cm PM with any questions. Thanks.

Please recommend a "High Quality" valve amp for Wilson Benesch SQ2
Guest posted a topic in Stereo Amplifiers & Pre-Amps
It has been 3 years since I started my 2 channel sound system. Old system - Budget ~$1000 each component Rega P3-24 (with mods added piece by piece over 2 years) Soundsmith VPI Zephyr Moving Iron High Output cartridge Sutherland Ph3D Battery Powered Phono Stage Audio Space 6IRE KT88 push-pull Integrated Amplifier Castle Knight 4 3-way Floorstand, upgraded to B&W CM8 3-way Floorstand after a year In the last 12 months, I have been slowly upgrading my system piece by piece. The latest acquisition is a pair of second hand Wilson Benesch Square 2 from the wonderful AudioAddict* 3 weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with the speakers. I am very happy now I have a very good analogue setup, for what I can(barely) afford, and I have enjoyed the journey tremendously. I enjoy listening to the music each time I put a record on. I am satisfied with what I have now, with maybe one more component I would like to change. A powerful valve amplifier to match with the WBSQ2. Although the Audio Space's match well with the WBSQ2, I know they are not getting the WBSQ2 to sing as well as they potentially could. A few people have given advice that WBSQ2 works best with a powerful solid state amp, but this is a sentimental choice, I have always wanted a turntable and a tube amplifier, so I will stick with a tube amp. I was also advised to speak to Elson who makes the beautiful Cymer amps but due to my recent expenditures on audio gears, I am broke! I won't have any extra fund for audio for quite a few months and I have a small budget. I am not sure how much a $3000 budget can get for a custom made valve amp, so at the moment I just want to see what other options I have, before I'll do anything. Current system - Budget ~$3000 each component Rega RP8 Shelter 7000 MC + Apheta MC Low Output Cartridge Simaudio Moon 310P Phono Preamp (considering adding the 320S power supply in a far far away future, might also try the drop dead gorgeous Fosgate Signature II Phono Preamp when I get a pay rise!) Audio Space 6IRE KT88 push-pull Integrated Amplifier (to upgrade) Wilson Benesch Square 2 2-way Floorstand Down to the last component, I think it's a little bit trickier now and I would certainly like to choose carefully. I am out of my depth in amps/speakers matching department and have no clues. I tried to read some technical info but I couldn't understand it with my chicken brain, all I can fathom is the impedance and sensitivity of speakers affect the performance. So I need recommendations and the purpose of starting this thread is to get a list of valve amps which will get the juice out of the WBSQ2, get the system amp configuration right, at the same time possibly a valve amp which is aesthetically pleasing, an object of desire to my eyes and within my budget. Only if such amp exists? So if you could, please recommend a valve amp which meets the criteria below, I would appreciate if you could attach a picture if it's your amp, or just something from the internet, I love looking at valve amp porn, especially when they display their tubes: 1. $3000 & under new, preferably used but in great condition for better value. 2. One that would bring out the WBSQ2's full potential. 3. Tubes to be proudly on display, not hidden, no complicated cage. 4. Aesthetically pleasing to my taste, an object of desire. (Simple and clean line, no brutal looking giant amps. Please see pictures for reference) My dream amps for style reference (When I win a lottery...) 1.Audio Note UK Gaku on 2. Airtight AT1S 3. Shindo Corton-Charlemagne80 4. McIntosh 275 5. Ayon - Spirit 6.Audio Research VSi60. 7.NAT- Se2se 8. Traformatic Experience Elegance Australian amps I love. 1. Cymer - 300b 2. Supratek - Mondeuse 5. Preferably available within the Australia (prefer to spend the budget on the amp, not on shipping cost). There are a few amps I have been considering which have been appearing in the classified sections but unfortunately they are not in my preferred styles. Weston Time Machine, JTLi, Mystere, Melody, Icon Audio. What I have in mind, questions and confusion: 1. Should I get a power amp and not an integrated? So it goes Moon phono pre > power amp so I am not doing double pre? I would prefer a simpler setup with less boxes. So if Moon Phono Pre + Integrated is a good setup, I won't be worried about changing it. 2. Should I get a passive volume control/line stage + power valve amp? I would need one power amp with a volume control since the Moon phono pre does not have one. I have only seen a volume control on a higher end valve power amp, it's unaffordable and I have limited the choice and spread my budget on 2 components? 3. Which of the configuration work best? 4. If I were to get a power amp, should I get a mono block? What are their benefits over a single power amp? Is it just more power? 5. Since I am quite happy with the Audio Space, is it more economical to just upgrade the internal parts (i.e: capacitors) like a SNAer suggested to me a few months ago? What specification should I upgrade it to so the Audio Space could drive the WBSQ2 effortlessly? 6. Which type of valve amp should I consider? I would love to experience with other tube amps but it seems push-pull KT88/KT90/KT120 are the more powerful ones so I should forget about EL32, Single Ended 845 etc...? I am not all for the power, I enjoy delicate music too. A balanced system is what I am looking for. Music I listen to: 1. Doof doof electronics - Underworld - Second Toughest In The Infants 2. Quiet electronics - Nils Frahm - Felt 3. Heavier Indie Rock - Arctic Monkeys 4. Beautiful quieter Folksy Indie Rock - Volcano Choir - Repave 5. Melancholic Alternative Rock - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - The Boatman's Call 6. Some classical - Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi, The Four Seasons 7. Little Jazz & prog rock 8. No rap or heavy metal *I would like to thank Mr.AudioAddict here not only for the fabulous speakers, also for being such a kind and generous gentleman, making the desision so much easier and the experience breezy and enjoyable. Also thank you Juiceter and Houdinifangs for your generous help.) has any one any experience with the new Little Bear Preamp on EBay - the one that sells for about $85 not the $45 one? I have bought one and am still waiting for it. It will be going between my Cambridge Audio CD player and my Emotiva UPA 500 power amp. I want to listen to the power amp and thought this would be the fastest way. The Linkwitz LXmini's have started construction which is why I have the Emotiva This is the preamp http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/301321354737?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Hi Everyone, I am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. I recently was given a awesome vintage Audio Research SP-6 Pre-Amplifier. One of the resistors on the board was fried, I removed it and now am trying to replace it. I have included some pictures below along with a video. If anyone knows which resister I need it would be really appreciated. Obviously I am a noob and just need a bit of guidance. Thanks allot. Oh I have the schematics but have no idea what I am looking at. Thanks in advance Simon
