A complete valve beginner's start-up package! This is a sweet sounding EL34 based push-pull integrated amplifier, bought to try out valves as I dipped my toes back into hifi as a hobby in late 2020. I am hooked on the glowing bottles, so have upgraded. This is 15 months old, a grey import from China Hifi. It is very well made, with point to point wiring, sturdy chassis, decent transformers (weighs 16.5kg), and excellent fit and finish. It makes a fine starting valve amp, or is ideal for a second system, and in as-new condition (I look after my gear!). It features easily adjustable biasing and switchable Triode/Utralinear mode. 4 and 8 ohm output. Comes with upgraded valves all round: Electro-Harmonix EL34s and NOS preamp valves (a collection of 17 spare tubes - see the photos below). Plus the originals. EH power valves have done about 83 hours, originals about 38 hours, so plenty of life left in both. With EL34s, output is 18W per channel (Triode); 35W per channel (Ultralinear). Ok, a word about the preamp tubes. Unlike many amps of this kind, it doesn't use the standard 12AU7/12AX7 tubes. It uses 5BK7As instead. So, your tube rolling options are a bit more limited BUT these tubes are available, and usually at very reasonable prices on eBay. Also, you have a few options with the power valves: KT77s, KT88s, or even KT120s (apparently). See this thread for a long discussion about rolling options with this amp: https://www.stereonet.com/forums/topic/337600-tube-rolling-with-5bk7as/ As a Chinese market amp, it runs on 220V, but included is a stepdown autoformer to run it at the right voltage and keep the tubes in spec. Also included is a valve tester with extra socket set up for 5BK7A valves so you can test and match tubes you buy as you roll. This is a complete valve amp beginner's set up package, and priced very generously (equivalent Aussie marker model is more than double my asking price). I prefer local pick up just for convenience, but I have the original double shipping boxes so it can go anywhere in Oz. Shipping charges are extra to the price. Happy to audition for local buyers.

Further Information: I'm selling my Little Dot 1+ headphone tube amplifier with 2 x LDH 408A tubes. It works perfectly well, but it turns out three headphone stacks is too many for one man. If you want to get into the tube scene, this is a great, cheap way. This unit would have less than 10 hours on it. I bought it at the same time as a Schiit stack and decided that cold, emotionless solid state amplifiers suit my Nordic heritage. Not a lot to say about this one. Works ✔. Has a 1/4" jack ✔. Has a volume knob ✔. I drove Audeze LCD2s & AKG 712s on it and it worked great. Comes in the original packaging with power cable and RCAs. Will ship anywhere in Australia for $20. Get some.

Further information: Beautifully built Bottlehead crack with speed ball upgrade, winged C power tube and Alps blue volume pot. I built this a few years ago with the help of a medical instrument/audio engineer friend of mine. All wiring and soldering done perfectly. I checked that it still works and it sounds great. Beautiful lush tube sound which adds warmth to any dac and high impedance headphone combination. I've moved to solid state as I have limited space in my bedroom setup but still love the sound of this amp. Unfortunately not using it enough and could use the funds. Volume pot upgrade gets rid of channel imbalance at low volumes and I believe the wing C tube sounds better than the General electric standard tube which I will also include. Wood is stained and varnished and looks really nice in person, hopefully that comes through in the photos. The grain comes up beautifully in certain lighting. Metal top sprayed with clear coat to prevent oxidation. This amp was never certified by an electrician so the usual caveats apply for a diy product, although work is impeccable and followed all instructions exactly. Can include a right angle or straight power cable. Headphones and RCA cables not included.

Further Information: A quick blurb I bought this on a lark two-and-a-bit years ago from the original owner (see the ad here) thinking 'I've got cash, and I've never heard tubes, so I'll take a punt'. Being pretty spec-focused at the time, I assumed I'd be unimpressed and move it on, happily continuing on the path to .000000000000001 SINAD or whatever I thought was ideal back then. Instead, this amp became the guts of my primary system for 2 years. It's hard to see the audience at first. Valve aficionados see pentodes and say 'pfft, it's a guitar amp'! To which I say, 'great, guitar is awesome'. Measurement heads say 'it's a harmonic distortion generator'! To which I say, 'if that's true, it turns out it's either benign, or beneficial'. And cheapskates say 'I can get that for half the price from supercheaptotallynotafirehazardtubehifi.com'. To which I just sort of smile and nod. If you're reading this, you know what it is. It was more expensive than the asking price to me when I bought it, even more expensive than that when new, and they now retail for $2495. AND you have to wait quite a while because Earle makes these himself, one by one. I ran my NS-1000Ms with the Topaz and it was the best system I ever owned. I could just sink back into my chair and turn it up until everything else fell away. Why sell it then? Well, the NS-1000Ms were very big, vintage, fragile, and, honestly, a bit scary in terms of the responsibility. I also have a super hyperactive 5 year old and so not only am I time poor, I'm also living with a tiny agent of chaos. Tubes and vintage stuff just don't mix with that. So I've decided to sell a bunch of gear and shrink my system back to something more manageable. More headphones and DIY, less massive bespoke tube goodness and 40+ y/o Japanese unobtanium. The deal The deal is you come to Bendigo and put cash in my hand and take the amp and enjoy. I can't bring it to you because I don't want to drive 200km for you to say 'gee, it doesn't look/sound/smell/taste quite as good as I expected, what's your best price?'. If you want to demo it that's more than okay, but, as stated, I no longer have speakers good enough to do it justice, only good enough to prove the amp is in working order. You are welcome to bring your own 6-12ohm bookshelf speakers to demo, as long as you accept any responsibility if you drop them in my driveway. That's pretty much it. FAQ Has it been modded or serviced since new? No and no. Does it have a sub or pre out? No and no. Does it come with the pictured manual? Yes! It contains all care instructions and I strongly encourage you to read it. How many hours on the tubes? No idea, but for me the amp was a special system than only got a run once every other week. Which is part of the reason I'm selling this stuff - I don't use it enough. Tubes seem good to me. What tubes are they? Earle's preferred Electro Harmonix 6CA7EH and Tung Sol 6SL7GT combo. Not sure the brand of the rectification tube - some Russian thing. Earl could answer that one. It can take EL34s and KT77s (?) also, I believe (consult the manual).

The Stereo 100's tank-like build quality, vividly neutral dynamic sound, and timeless styling make it a worthy successor to McIntosh's most adored classic." "In my view, the Stereo 100 is everything – sonically, mechanically, aesthetically – that we could hope for in a 21st-century tube amp," Everything about it screams 'End-game tube amp, long-term keeper!'" - Herb Reichert, Stereophile October 16, 2018 "My time with the ST-100 was one of the most musically enjoyable in recent memory… It earns my highest recommendation in regards to sonics and value. It is virtually maintenance free, aside from periodical tube biasing. As with all the other Rogue products I have had in house, it was 100% reliable." - Andre Marc, positive-feedback.com, Issue 70 "The Rogue Audio Stereo 100 power amplifier is a GREAT product. I have heard no other amp under $15,000 that has comparable levels of control, clarity and consistency of tone. It was a pleasure working with Mark O’Brien and Rogue Audio on this review, and I look forward to listening to music every day with this fine amplifier in my system. Of course I purchased the review sample. It was one of the easiest buying decisions in my seemingly endless quest for great sound." - 10audio.com, June 6, 2018 Photos:
