  1. Hi Everyone, I'm Picking up my Audio Research Reference 150 this Tuesday. I'm picking it up from the Courier Depot in Brisbane as I'm going to be down there visiting friends. Before I leave I want to know how big the box is to see if it will fit in the boot of my car or if I have to take the bigger car. I would have asked the shop I bought it from but only just thought of it today and will be leaving tomorrow and they will be closed. So if any REF150 owners could help me out that would be great. Thanks

  4. Item: QED Reference Audio Evolution Interconnects (1M pair) Location: Canberra Price: $110 + Postage Item Condition: Very Good Reason for selling: No longer needed, have moved to XLR. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Direct Deposit. Extra Info: I've been a fan of QED interconnects for quite a while. They do a lot right and very little wrong for a realistic amount of money. Build quality is very good, and value is excellent. The QED Reference Audio Evolution is probably the best value interconnect in QED's range, providing most of the performance of their top offering for less than half the price. Shielding is very good, so these are excellent in systems where power cables cannot be kept away from signal cables, or where switch mode power supplies are used. RRP in Australia is $249. Original packaging included. Review here: http://www.techradar...n-929601/review Pictures:
  5. Further information: I auditioned many loudspeakers in $15K-$30K range and landed with $15K Tannoy Kensington Prestige which was a clear winner. I was pleased to find that my choice was validated by Patrick Turner, acclaimed Australian tube audio amplifier designer / technician, who said that Tannoy Kensington was "the best sounding loudspeakers I ever had in my workshop". Later, I auditioned Osborn Reference Epitomes Tower Elite. They left me speeches. My beloved Tannoys Kensington Prestige, in direct comparison with Osborn Reference Epitomes Towers Elite, suddenly became very disappointing, sounding flat and dull. I had these Epitomes for 3 years, they still under 5 years warranty. Just upgraded to Osborn Reference Grand Monument Loudspeakers are in a brand new condition, cosmetically and sonically 10 out of 10. From smoke, pet and small kids free home. I listened at low volume, very rarely at moderate volume. Beautiful unique finish, special order Antique Brown color in Piano Gloss. Pick-up only in Melbourne (Frankston). Reference Epitome Tower Elite Specifications: SPEAKER DIMENSIONS: 36 x 49 x 156 cm WEIGHT: 105kg each EFFICIENCY: 91db for 1 watt at 1 meter FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 20 to 25000 Hz Tweeter accuracy throughout operating range +0/-1db. Usable bass to 8 Hz. CROSSOVER POINTS: 125 Hz and 3500 Hz @ 12 db/Octave MINIMUM IMPEDANCE: 4 Ohm REC. MAXIMUM POWER: 200 Watts R.M.S per Channel REC. MINIMUM POWER: 10 Watts R.M.S per Channel “Very few loudspeakers at any price can match the transparency, detail, dynamics, weight and sheer power of this combination". This fidelity is possible due to the fine tolerances and light weight of the driver weight and voice coils. Features heavy lead lining to all exterior surfaces. Heavy bracing is used and all areas between the bracing are covered by a unique sandwich lining. Heavy acoustic felt is used to separate the heavy lead sheet from the cabinetry. A further layer of heavy acoustic felt is placed over the lead and the entire sandwich is stapled to the walls of the cabinet. This result is what is effectively a box within a box. Wrapping the outside of the speaker is similar to knocking on a brick. This totally inert cabinet construction results in the ultimate sound reproduction.
  6. Further Information: A bit over 1 year old and sparingly used - cosmetically and sound-wise like new. I may ad a bonus: set of four spares Russian NOS 6Н6П. Due to very heavy weight, packing and safety, pick-up in Melbourne (Frankston) is preferred. According to legendary Lampizator designer Lukasz Fikus (you may Google his article), 6Н6П (there are two English transcripts : 6H6P and 6N6P) IS THE BEST SOUNDING TUBE for small to medium gain circuits (which are used in preamplifiers). The Silver Edition uses a square section pure silver with 24 carat gold wiring in all crucial signal paths and in the umbilical cord from the power supply. This quite substantial Preamplifier is an upgraded version of the quite stunning AM RT-2, which evolved from the Stereo Knight Magnetic Enigma. This is a minimalist in operation, but no effort spared, quite over the top, nothing to degrade the audio, everything previously learned Preamp. It was needed to to drive AM's Crowning Glory. The Nothing spared, whatever it takes to achieve the absolute in music reproduction. It is a stunning piece of design and engineering. The multi selector 33 step volume pots are painstakingly constructed in house for the ultimate in quality. Many years of research and development has gone into these pots. They operate multiple windings on transformers, which are also constructed in house, and give the first level of amplification, the same as the extremely impressive R-S Transformer passive preamp. This then drives the nothing compromised, nothing spared tube amplifier section, with a simply humongous power supply weighing about 25kG. The monstrous transformers have a bandwidth exceeding 15hZ to 122KhZ. The Preamplifier works in Pure Class A, Single Ended mode using two 6H6P as the drivers, two 6H6P valves as the amplifiers. The preamp is a dual mono design, so that the transformers, power supply and voltage regulation are completely separated, so avoiding noise and cross talk. They use a large number of high value U-Cap copper foil capacitors, which were carefully chosen for their natural, analytical sound. The output transformers bandwidth can extend to between 15 HZ to 120KHZ. The remarkable level of performance has been achieved with an all new audio and power supply circuit design. This new audio circuit is all tube, Class-A, with zero feedback, utilizing a total of four long-life tubes (2 6H6P as the drivers and 2 6H6P as the amplifiers). The Magnetic R-T3 is a direct upgrade from the AM reference version of the magnetic passive preamp, which already delivers an exceptional performance, by utilizing both tube amplifiers and output transformers. One great advantage of this magnetic feature is that it is capability of optimally matching with any amps and interconnects, while accepting input from any sources, at various impedance levels, with the least possible interference to the signal. The power supply is divided into two separate parts: The main power transformer, which is used to power the audio circuit, and MOSFETS, that are used for both the voltage stabilization and for a constant current supply. This enhances the reliability, and makes the tube amplification as linear as possible. With its great build quality, very carefully selected audiophile grade components, versatility and the ability to musically transform every system, not only does the AM R-T3 deliver striking clarity and detail that presents instrumental timbres and textures in an unmatched amazingly lifelike way, but it also represents great value and great reliability. Virtually all wiring is gold plated silver wire. *2 Transformers for volume attenuation with 33 steps. *Transformer output. *Independent regulated power supply. *The left and right channels are a completely independent design. *Pure tube, Class-A, with a zero feedback audio circuit. *Versatility to match all kinds of amplifier and interconnects, based on a fully magnetic or transformers implemented design. *MOSFETS for voltage stabilization and constant current supply. *U-cap capacitor in signal path. *Detachable IEC power cord. *High quality gold-plated AM custom binding posts and RCA jacks. *A fully machined aluminum alloy chassis and exceptional build quality. Specifications: Tube complement: Two NOS 6H6P as the drivers, two NOS 6H6P as the amplifiers Frequency response 20 Hz ~ 100KHz Input Impedance 47k ohms variable depending on the source Volume control: 33-position volume control Output Impedance: 600 ohms .
