Hey guys, I don't know if this is the right category for my question but if it isnt please move it, Everyday on my way to school I like to listen to my music out loud with my friends, I used to do it with my phone but it ends up hard to hear especially with traffic and such, I made a pair of logitech ls11 speakers portable by powering them off batteries and putting them in a cardboard box, They were alright volume(About as loud as my phone) and had a bit more quality than my phone, But they ran out of batteries within an hour of use and that was getting inefficient and expensive. So i've decided I want to undertake a project where i'm going to use a 12v sealed lead acid battery and use it to power some speakers and a sub. So heres what I need. *Speaker, Preferably a full range car speaker of some sort *Subwoofer, Needs to provide good bass at loud volumes *LOUD, Most important bit, Needs to be quite loud that can be heard easily over traffice with good quality and bass *Portable, Needs to last for atleast 2-3 hours a day and be light. * Size, Needs to fit in my schoolbag with a bit of room to spare. *Rechargeble *Enclosure for all the speakers This is my schoolbag, It's a Nike one its not too small but its not very big eitherhttp://sportitemsstore.com/product/nike-backpack-bag-sand-blue-athletic-school-gym-travel-laptop-bags-ba4378-414/ I can build my own enclosure. So does anyone have any tips or anything? I was thinking 4 inch car speakers and a 6 inch sub? It needs to be around $100-120 And available in Australia Cheers

Hello! I've got a Woo WA22 that's got balanced XLR inputs, and I want to take advantage of them. So I'm split between the new Project Phono Box RS:- http://www.project-audio.com/main.php?prod=phonoboxrs&cat=boxes?=en The Violectric PPA V600:- http://www.violectric.de/Pages/en/products/ppav600.php And the PS Audio GCPH. I'm auditioning the Violectric and the GCPH, anyone heard the Project? Opinions would be great on the use of the balanced use of these phono stages. Thanks

Item: Project 1Xpression turntable, Speedbox Mk II speed controller. Turntable bought new 2004, speedbox bought new 2008(?) Location: Brisbane Price: $250 - SOLD Item Condition: Plenty of use, no abuse. Turntable lid has the usual marks. Paint has been worn off the plinth where the front corners of the lid touch it when the lid is closed. Three very small marks to the paint on the platter (see photo). Speedbox is pretty much immaculate. Reason for selling: Upgraded Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This is a great starter turntable. I've got a lot of pleasure out of this table over the years, and will be sorry to see it go but better it gets appreciated by somebody else than gather dust. This is the first version of the Project 1Xpression, which was an upgraded version of the Project 1.2. The carbon fibre arm is fully adjustable (inc. VTA, Azimuth etc) unlike some of the other Project arms. I upgraded this with a Speedbox II controller, which improves the sound considerably (and makes life easier for lazy people like me who don't like moving the belt manually to change speeds). Also includes optional heavier counterweight (cost me $60 I think), so you have both the light and the heavy weight, meaning you can use pretty much any cartridge you like. I was using a Benz cartridge in recent times. It currently has its original Ortofon OMB10 cartridge reinstalled. I am happy to leave this installed for no extra cost, however it will probably need a new stylus (can't remember how many hours it would have had on it, but I certainly used it for quite a while before swapping it out). If not needed, I'll have it back to use on another table I rescued from an unloving home. I'll chuck in an Ortofon alignment template. I bought this when I still lived in England, so the power adaptor is a UK one. I will include an Australian adaptor. Still have the instruction manual, however while I do still possess the box, it got water damaged when stored in my shed (the box was empty when that happened, just to clarify - the turntable was inside the house, busy playing records!), so while you are welcome to it if you want it (still has the packing foam etc), I will not post this one. Hi all. I am looking at maybe making a passive preamp/attenuator, and was wondering where the best place to get a good quality cabinet to house it all is? I intend to surround it in a nice timber at some stage, so it's more about the general quality. I imagine I'll eventually put a front and sides in timber, possibly with cutouts around the various controls. I've seen many on eBay and so on, but no nothing about what exactly to look for once I know the side I need. Cheers, Mat
