  2. Item: Musical Fidelity A1 FBP Fully Balanced Preamplifier Location: Carlton, Victoria Item condition description: Near new condition. Reason for selling: Excess. Price: $1,200 + postage or pickup free Payment Methods: Paypal, Cash - Pickup. Extra Info: This pre-amp was purchased last Jan 2012 and I'm the first owner. It comes with manual, remote controller and original boxes. Pick up is welcome. Manual instruction can be found at: http://www.audioadvi...pdf/MFA1PRE.pdf Review and info can be found at: http://www.referenceaudio.se/ImageUpload/Tester/A1%20FBP%20Review%20HiFi%20World.pdf Fully-balanced layout: seen only in very high-end preamps due to high costs associated, is designed to give the preamp wide bandwidth, low distortion and low noise. Two-box design: the external power supply keeps electromagnetic interference from the transformer and power supply circuitry away from the audio signals in the preamp. Four-stage choke filtering: further condition the AC power before it gets to the preamp. Remote control: for volume adjustment, input selection etc. Balanced I/O: two sets of XLR inputs and one set of balanced outputs Built-in USB DAC: computer audio system ready and future proof Built-in phono stage: high performing MC / MM stages Home theatre bypass: can be integrated with surround sound system
  3. Item: Musical Fidelity M1 HPA Location: Canberra Price: $640 + postage. Item Condition: One small mark on top edge (shown in photo), otherwise perfect. Reason for selling: Need some cash and the MF is an optional system component. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Bank Transfer. Extra Info: I purchased the Musical Fidelity M1 HPA last year from Miranda HiFi to use primarily as a preamp with the Weiss DAC2 and W4S Monoblocks. Its inclusion in my system massively improved on the sound I was getting with a direct connection from the Weiss to my power amps. The class A MF M1 HPA is clean, powerful and detailed, but has a subtle sweetness that is very inviting. I haven't used it much as a headphone amp (I don't have high-end phones) so I can't comment on it in that role, though it reviews well. Similarly, I have never used its USB DAC but understand that it is fairly basic. When I purchased it it retailed for $1K but it looks as though it goes for $900 now. Here's a review: http://www.techradar...a-720752/review Prior to removing it from my system it was in completely immaculate "as new" condition. However, I clumsily managed to knock the top edge with a power cable while extracting it, and it now has a small mark which I have tried to capture in the photographs. I have all the original packing etc. Pictures:
  4. Further information: Plinius M16 Preamp. Made in NZ to Krell like standards..... in times when everything was aluminium billet and chunky! ( even the remote is CNC'd from billet). In excellent working conditon and presentation. Some general marks from use but all superficial. Includes remote ( ink has worn off a bit) and original manual. No box so local pick up preferred. 5. Item: Rega Fono moving coil phono stage preamplifier Location: Canberra Price: $150 Item Condition: Good one very minor mark on top of the unit Reason for selling: moving to valves Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (+fees), Direct Deposit Extra Info: Rega Fono moving coil phono stage preamplifier, second owner (bought from a friend), works perfectly, simple to use, RCA input, list price $550
  6. Item: Audile Solo Pre amplifier Location: Hillside. Vic Price: $1100 ono Item Condition: good Reason for selling: Too much unused gear/moving house & down sizing Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: I don't know a whole lot about this preamplifier but here is what I do know. The Audile Solo Preamplifier is a hand built Australian made, valve pre. They used to be sold through Secher Audio until early 2011 at a rrp of $3800. I bought mine from Secher Audio used (I am the second owner) but had it serviced by the maker (who I believe is retired and now resides in rural Victoria). I can't give you the specs, nor can I tell you what valves etc are used. I'm not one to pull things apart. I know it works and what it did to the sound in my system and that was enough for me. It compared very favourably to a couple of recent lower-end Audio research pre's. If anyone does know anything about these pre's that might be of interest: p.m me and I will update the ad. This pre was responsible for my switch to tube amps. I loved what it did to the sound of my solid state amps. I haven't used it for 12 months+ now as I found that it was too much of a good thing when partnered with some of my valve amps. It is perfect for those with solid state amps (even integrated amps with a pre out- which is how I got started) and speakers of low sensitivity, who have a slightly lean sound and want to flesh it out a little. I have heard it used to great effect with a Roksan K2 and even a Plinius 9200 behind it (not saying the plinius is lean- just worked well together). The Audile was my first upgrade from a very good first system and I haven't looked back. If you want more of a description as to my experience of the sound, send me a p.m. There a numerous inputs, even a 'monitor' switch which disables all the inputs for a more 'pure' approach. I only used the one input. It does not have a remote- that annoyed me when I was considering buying it, but in reality I didn't even notice. It won't: make your system sound like a 200k system, make you coffee, win you the title of 'world's sexiest man' (though I think it is pretty cool looking in a retro kind of way). It will: be perfect for those whose systems are a little lean and would like to try adding some 'valve' flavour, give you a class sound that is WAY beyond my price of $1100 require an audition to make sure that it is the right pre for you. If you are in Victoria, I am more than happy to try and arrange for interested parties the opportunity to trial it in their own systems, given that it is a relatively unknown brand. It is the sound that will sell, not the prestige of owning an 'Audile'. I am open to offers, particularly from those who may not have the luxury of being able to audition it in their system. I will do my best to answer any questions people might have. Pictures:
  7. Item: Wyred 4 Sound DAC2 (Black) Location: Canberra Price: $1180 O.N.O + postage. Item Condition: 10/10 (Apart from the dust it could be mistaken for new). Reason for selling: Have pre-ordered a higher end DAC and need to pay for it somehow. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Direct Credit. Extra Info: The W4S replaced a very highly regarded Weiss DAC2 in my system, and was more detailed, more musical, and had a better feature set. It was a complete bargain at its retail price, and is an even better at the above price. It has pre-amp functionality (for digital sources) with a remote, as well as phase reversal, a hi res USB input, and multiple other digital ins (including IS2). It is build like a tank (really really really solid), and was made in the USA. Sound wise it is highly detailed without being overly analytical, and has great drive and body. It is very neutral but isn't at all clinical. Reviews can be found here: http://www.positive-.../wyred_dac2.htm http://www.stereotim.../CD101410.shtml www.6moons.com/audioreviews/wyred4/dac.html http://www.avguide.c...nverter-tas-210 Specifications etc. can be found here: http://www.wyred4sou...0/117839/457975 Aus retail is $1950, but it can be had new for around $1750 depending on the exchange rate on the day (Deep Hz Audio are excellent in that way). I have all the original packaging, software, etc. And can include a W4S P1 Ultra power cable (US plug) which retails for about $150, for another $80. I am only selling the W4S because my most loved DAC of all time (more expensive than the W4S) has received an update and I have pre-ordered it. I need to sell the W4S to help pay for the new purchase. Pictures:
  8. Item: Wyred 4 Sound STP-SE Preamp (black) Location: Canberra, ACT Price: $1200 ono plus postage Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Need the cash Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This is a fantastic stereo preamp, definitely a high quality unit. Solidly built and is a fantastic control centre, with 5 inputs (3 RCA, 2 XLR) and 4 outputs (2 RCA, 2 XLR) with bypass option on all 5 inputs. It allowed me to use it as a control centre for my music/movie room which has an AV pre-pro, turntable, DAC and ipod dock as inputs, and run outputs to my amp for front speakers, a headphone amp, a sub, and an amp in a 2nd room (and still one output to spare). Reviews: http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/wyred2/preamp.html http://www.highfidelityreview.com/wyred4sound-stp-se.html http://www.stereotimes.com/amp082912.shtml As the review suggest it is as close to invisible as you could get, not altering the tonal balance and dynamics of my sources which are high end, including the PS Perfect Wave DAC and a ClearAudio Emotion SE II TT. If anything I feel it does present an engaging 3D soundstage with some subtle but notable air and space between instruments. I purchased this unit second hand from a Stereo Net member middle 2013 - originally purchased from Deep HZ Audio in late 2011. I've had change of circumstances and I need cash and I'm stripping back my system to bare essentials. Comes with original internal packaging and double boxing, plus owners manual and remote and 240V power cable. Pictures:
  9. Item: Melody SHW 1688 ii Tube Preamplifier Location: Lara, VIC, 3212 Price: $1250 ONO PRICE REDUCED: $1099. Item Condition: Excellent (There is a couple of faint scratch marks on the tube cage). Reason for selling: Lack of room, renovations, moving to headphones for the time being. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Bank Deposit, COD Only Extra Info: This is a 220 volt version and will come with a step down transformer. An absolutely beautiful looking and sounding preamplifier. Do a quick Google search and you will find numerous glowing reviews. I was using my Audiolab M-Dac direct to power amplifier before buying this and could't believe my ears once I included the Melody in the system. The soundstage opened right up and the separation between instruments was incredible. 2 sets of high level and low level outputs. 4 sets of inputs. http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/melody/1688.html http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/topic/5219-melody-1688s-pre-amp/ http://www.stereomojo.com/FSIreport2007.htm Also see my Bryston 4BSST2 for sale here: http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/topic/63088-fs-bryston-4bsst2/ And the Dynaudio Contour S3.4s pictured will be posted shortly. Pictures: Edit: For clarification: This is the MkII model.
  10. Further Information: For your consideration. Originally sold for almost $2700. This pre amplifier is currently matched with the CARY CAD 2A3 power amplifier also for sale on this forum.(Will consider a package price if interested) Like the power amplifier it has been sitting on a shelf for a while untouched. It has around 20 hours of use as I evaluate it for sale. My friend is moving OS and has asked me to help. Bottom end power and sound stage are all second to none as I listen via my EL56 QUADs . At the head end is currently a Sony CDP3100 broadcast CD player running via a Eastern Electric tube DAC. I love it and will be seriously considering buying myself if there are no interested parties..
  11. Further information: Original 230 V. Australian price $11,000. End Game reference preamplifier. Free shipping. Produce natural mid-range & live like vocals which are important for most sorts of music and is especially for home cinema. Due to advanced original Manley schematics (another Manley's genius creation is VTL), 300B sound - which is typically a bit muddy - is not muddy at all. How many iconic reference preamplifier makers claim truly original schematics?.. This model has very rare transformer-coupled output. They are hard to design and even harder to build, but produce amazing natural sound which most reference preamplifiers just don't. It has special headphone amplifier with transformer-coupled output as well. Preamplifier is called "soul of sound". What we hear is more preamp, and less - power amp. This Manley's gem can make "sing" almost any audio system, including systems with solid state power amps. Apogeeacoustic: "I have obtained a Manley 300B Neo preamp and I am amazed that more people don't use these. The hugest, most dynamic detailed soundstage I have heard in any preamp, with a large, sumptuous presence that makes my little Analysis Epsilon speakers sound like 12 foot high Sound Labs in an auditorium. WhatistheBest: "Some of the best SET amplifiers I've tried and auditioned are Lamm Audio, Kondo Audio Note, Cary Audio, Manley Labs, Aries Cerat." AudioAficionado: "The Manley 300B is by far the best line preamplifier I ever listened / owned. The 300B makes Music with the capital M. The 300B Neo Classic preamp is truly David Manley's Master Piece and one of the best kept secret in HiFi. I have no more needs for "fully balanced components". I found the "fully balanced SOUND." 12. Further information: 120V USA unit. Requires USA-AU step-down transformer ($70+). Many times described in audiophiles forums as "the best I ever heard". BAT is preferred hi-fi audio brand by many professional musicians. Free shipping. Few weeks ago I upgraded from original 6922 tubes (they been in OK condition due to lack of usage) to top quality NOS Russian tubes $350 (I have receipt) - big improvement. I am second owner, bought 1 year ago for testing in my home system. 6922 tube is used in many 25K+ preamps-flagships, including Audio Music RT-3, Conrad Johnson's GAT, LAMM, Audio Research Reference etc. Superseded model. Imported second hand cost 5K+ without guaranty. EXCEPTIONAL build quality. HARDLY used - remote control as new. Perfect technically and cosmetically. Photos of my actual unit before I upgraded all 6922 tubes. Many experienced users believe that 6922 tube is superior to 6H30 tube: "Unless I have missed my hunch here both units use the "Super Tube", which is the 6H-30 tube I believe. As someone who has owned over 30 preamps (yep, I am OCD in this area and I know it) I have a pretty good idea of tubes, and tube amps, plus I own over 800 NOS tubes. I have owned a lot of ARC preamps as well as BAT, and the BAT preamps from the early days where the 6922 was used as well as some 5881 or 6V6 tubes as rectifiers or in the power supply, those were fine preamps. I have owned two BAT preamps with the Super-Tube and sold them to get back to preamps with the 6922 and I could roll tubes that help bring out the best in the BAT. Of course, there are those who will say I am nuts, or I cannot hear, or my head has been relocated to another area on my body (or in my body) but I have never, EVER been happy with the 6H30" Users' reviews: http://www.audioreview.com/product/amplification/preamplifiers/balanced-audio-technology/vk-30.html Photos: PLEASE READ If you include any reference to pricing whatsoever in this section (excluding RRP), your ad will not be approved If you are advertising multiple items, you must post one bulk price only, or post seperate ads for each item If you don't include photographs of the actual item being sold, your ad will not be approved You understand that a reasonable donation for selling fees is expected upon successful sale of your item - if you have previously sold items and not made a donation, your advertisement may not be approved.
